This mod adds various tiers of Solar Panels that produce Redstone Flux.
The inspiration came from CompactSolars for IC2.
I wanted the same but for Redstone Flux production so that it would work with Thermal Expansion. Then the mod evolved and I added new features (and I'll continue). Keep reading, you'll like it!
The mod comes by default with 6 different tiers (fully configurable).
Produces 2 RF/tick. Internal storage 50,000. Transfer 16 RF/tick
Produces 16 RF/tick. Internal storage 250,000. Transfer 128 RF/tick
Produces 64 RF/tick. Internal storage 850,000. Transfer 512 RF/tick
Produces 256 RF/tick. Internal storage 4,000,000. Transfer 2,048 RF/tick
Produces 1,024 RF/tick. Internal storage 16,000,000. Transfer 8,192 RF/tick
Produces 4,096 RF/tick. Internal storage 60,000,000. Transfer 32,764 RF/tick
Features
Number of tiers and their production/capacity can be fully configured to suit your needs. (from 0.6)
Many upgrades can be crafted to improve your solar panels. (from 0.6)
Height of the block can be changed in the config. From cover size up to full block. (from 0.2)
Solar Panels automatically share their energy when next to each other, no cables needed. (from 0.3)
Thermal Expansion recipes and automatic fallback on vanilla recipes if the mod is not installed.
Use a wrench instead of a pickaxe for the solar panel to keep its energy and inventory. (from 0.5)
Use a Furnace Upgrade to heat vanilla furnaces. (from 0.7)
Upgrades
Efficiency upgrade
Increases the amount of RF generated per tick.
Low light upgrade
Increases the amount of RF generated in low light environment.
Machine traversal upgrade
Distribute energy to connected machines.
Yes, all 9 pulverizers are receiving power without a single cable.
Transfer rate upgrade
Increases the amount of RF that can be transferred per tick.
Capacity upgrade
Increases the internal capacity of the solar panel.

Modpacks
You have my blessing for using my mod in any modpack you want.
First thanks a lot for your feedback!
"your cubes are ugly" is a bit harsh but its at least honest
But I heard you all and I think you will like it!
First, I got rid of the "ugly" textures. I hope you'll find them a bit less "disgusting"!
I also reduce the height of the blocks, they are now like the daylight sensor.
But even better, you can choose the height you want through the config file!
Make them extremely thin like covers up to the full block size.
so... how do i craft them? cool mod and i love the idea of not needing to use Extra utilities generator in order to go solar for RF. but i have no idea how to craft them.
I will rework the recipes and make them different depending on which mods you have installed.
For example, the 4th core needs silver to be crafted. In next release the mod will detect if silver is available or not and automatically adapts its recipes.
Might also introduce a hard vs easy recipes in the config.
Loving the mod so far, is there any information on how to use them? As an example, what are the cores for? How do they work? or what about he photovoltaic cells? what is the mirror used for?
(EDIT) slaps forehead, nvm I see they're part of the recipes. GREAT job
I just uploaded a new version of the mod (0.4)
This new version adds new recipes that use Thermal Expansion 4 items and blocks.
If Thermal Expansion is not found, the mod will automatically fallback on recipes using vanilla items
Of course, there is a config option to toggle Thermal Expansion recipes.

Wait. When it says it generates 2RF/t and outputs 16RF/t, does it mean it only sends out RF every 8 ticks?
Also, I have two suggestions:
1. Have an upgrade system just like Iron Chests. For example, if you have a Tier 2 Solar Panel and want to upgrade it to Tier 3, just craft an upgrade and shift-right-click it on the solar panel to apply it.
2. Rename the solar panels. I mean, it's a little inelegant to have lower case letters on block names. So instead of having "Solar panel III", you could have "Solar Flux Panel MK1/MK2/MK3..."
I think this mod is an awesome idea and here are some suggestions for the mod. The solar panels should use different tiers of gears in the recipe and here are my ideas.
1. The first one should contain tin gears.
2. The second should contain invar gears.
3. The third should contains gears called hardened invar gears. These are gears that you would have to come up with yourself. They would basically be an invar gear surrounded on the top, bottom and sides with hardened glass.
4. The fourth should be hardened electrum gears. The principal is the same as # 3.
5. The fifth should be enderium gears.
6. The sixth and final ones should be hardened enderium gears. See #'s 3 and 4 for more info.
I really hope that you take my suggestions into consideration as this is the best way of balancing the recipe I could think of.

It means the panel generates 2RF/t into it's internal storage, but from that internal storage it can output 16RF/t. If the panel is at 0 storage with something drawing power from it the most it will output is 2RF/t.
Wow this is actually pretty great, Super powerful but balanced because of expense, only questions i have is what are the cores for? i can only assume they are the original crafting recipe but im not sure
Nice mod. One feature that I do feel is missing is that, since this was made with thermal expansion in mind, it should have TE-style dialogue boxes that show you the R/t and the power level. Otherwise awesome mod, way better that the Extra Utilities Solar generator.
This is great! I love the idea of solar panels, and I was sad that thermal expansion never included them. Thanks for creating something so simple, but so awesome
Hi. I just solar panel mods for TE and found Solar Flux. I like how the thing works and that it is configurable. But I haven't figured out how to remove a solar panel without breaking it. Any hints?

Have you tried shift(sneak) + right clicking with the TE crescent hammer? I haven't tried it, but I would assume that would work since this was made to function with TE machines, I'd assume it would work the the TE tools.
Edit: Hm. Tested it, that doesn't work. I picked it up with a pickaxe fine?

I rushed a bit too much to have the new version, recipes are missing in 0.2
Version 0.2b has already been uploaded and should appear on curse within minutes.
Also, if you don't like the recipes I have implemented, feel free to suggest better ones
Here is the link if you can't wait: http://www.curse.com/mc-mods/minecraft/223548-solar-flux/2212192
