However, I'd like to be able to use shorter versions of the units or even not have them displayed at all, as well as be able to choose the accuracy of the speedometer. (I'd much prefer to only see 2 digits after the decimal rather than 4, because it just adds more clutter and the small differences aren't that useful to know about.)
This is awesome, but why only 1.6.4? I've been wanting one of these for like... well... pretty much since minecarts came out.
This is seriously awesome though!

Because I wrote this mod a long time ago and am only now releasing it. Will update it to 1.7.x soon-ish, though.
Changelog
- Added 'Show Units' setting (can be set to on, minimal, or off)
- Added 'Precision' setting
- Decreased default precision from 4 to 2
- Added the last jump info floating text option to the settings screen
Changelog
- Added a 1.7.x version
- Added support for the Version Checker mod (1.7.x only)
- Fixed 'minimal' unit display defaulting to on (was meant to be false)
- Fixed meters/sec accidentally showing meters/tick
Using version 1.0.2, I discovered a discrepancy in the config comment about units: it says "mps" is the abbreviation for meters/sec, but when I tried that by editing the config file, it kept changing back to blocks/sec. I found the keymapping for the in-game config and set it to meters/sec there, and when I looked at the config file, it was "ms" instead of "mps".

@squeek502 This mod is amazing! There are so many mods out there that have speed boosting properties that don't have some sort of unit of measurement to use to gauge the speed, an example being Superheroes Unlimited Mod. This mod needs way more attention than it is getting, I'm honestly serious. Here, I've decided to make a couple of signatures for your mod:
is this more accurate than cubes edge?both mods add a speedometer but im looking for an accurate one
It looks like Cubes Edge uses motionX/motionY/motionZ, which may not take all movement into account (for example, riding a horse). Squeedometer uses the actual distance traveled per tick to calculate speed, so no matter what, it will show an accurate speed.
Note: This mod is mostly intended to be used as a companion for Squake.

Nope. You could just multiply blocks/sec by 3600 though.
Whoops, will fix that.
