Okay, started using this, interesting if a little tedious.
BUT, I have found an issue. This maybe intended.
This set of lines in the config can't be added to.
toolleveling {
# Adds a random bonus on these levelups if 'RandomBonuses' is enabled

If I want to set max level to something over 7, it won't allow for Extra Bonuses at other levels, it keeps resetting these lines back to default.
What I was going to do is set the max level to around 20 or so, But if I can't spread out those bonuses or add more of them, changing the max level isn't very useful cause the last thing you get is at 7.
whats the preferred materials path in this without steel? I have a bronze pick that's capped at redstone level, and i can't find anything that can mine obsidian?
GUYS, need your help. I can't add redstone to a shortbow/ longbow . Only redstone for a ranged weapons don't work. But some time ago it worked. No idea what cause this.
Can you please add some sort of feature to completely remove specified modifiers (or at least flux). I'm making an HQM and I want things like flux powered tools to be restricted completely to redstone arsenal so players are encouraged to make that stuff. Removing moss also might be useful to encourage it even more.
I dont know ia mod like that mod exists, but I would like the same thing for better progression, I use Minetweaker to achieve same results though, and disabled all ore from being smelted in the regular furnace. I would really like to have a campfire made of wood just to cook food, then a mid level "kiln" that could cook food and make clay products including bricks, then alas and actual "furnace" thats made with stone and bricks to finally smelt ores...
Anyways, if you haven't found a mod that can do what you speak of, PM me if you'd like to set up Minetweaker to do it, if on the other hand you HAVE found a mod like that, please PM me with the name/link, I'd like to check it out...But since you said you were just thinking of this mods other features I assume you haven't looked for a dif mod that does that...
Can someone plz tell me if I am doing something wrong ? I want to make stone tools unusable, and only be crated for cast purposes, I changed the config option:
# Stone Tools can only be used to create casts, but no tools [default: true]
B:disableStoneTools=true
Before I recall a tooltip saying it was only usable for casts or something to that effect, but now I can make tools out of stone and use them like normal even with above config. Why ? Also, in the restrictions file, I have wood tools set up only to be able to make rods and crossbars, but they too can make any parts/tools and use like normal. Its becoming quite frustrating, this was one of my absolute favorite mods in the past, and its an absolute must to preserve balance and progression for me with TiCon... *sigh* Any help here is appreciated...
I'm using version 2.1.4 of Tinker's Tweaks. I set the config for the leveling of tools to be 999, but it won't go past 6. As a matter of fact, none of the config changes I have made work. Any ideas on how to fix this issue?
How do I upgrade the head of a tool such as the mattock? It has multiple heads in the recipe for making it initially, and I have all three items in the tool station but it's not working
I came to this thread to ask about this, but ended up answering my own question before I finished making this post. As such, I don't actually need an answer for it myself, but for those who do need an answer: you have to replace one part at a time. It's not really intuitive, but that's how it works.
@boni have you considered adding a items and recipes for items like "mattock head"? They would be single-material tool parts that, if put in position for replacing parts of or building a tool that has multiple heads or "bindings" (I think mallet plates serve the same function?), such as a mattock, it substitutes for both parts. Also have you, alternatively, tried making it possible to do what I tried - that is, replace both parts at once by putting them in the tool station simultaneously?
Is this compatible with Metallurgy 4? Because every time I make a cast of some Metallurgy 4 metal and attempt to apply it to a tool/weapon, my game crashes.
Do you have the latest version of ExtraTiC? For some reason I can't read your log. I know that earlier versions of ExtraTiC did not support weapon parts.
the default progression seems to match neither the opening post nor the curse page. If I'm not mistaken the missing link is Redstone, but where is it involved in the chain? After bronze?
what's the easiest way to remove (by cheating means or otherwise) the auto-smelt modifier I wouldn't have put on my mining pickaxe if you paid me in real money? Should I break out my NBT editor? or is there a built-in command or something?
edit:used the mod spotlighted here to set the item's "lava" tag to 0, thus removing the auto-smelting modifier
edit 2: I also deleted the appropriate "effect" tag so the tool stopped rendering like an autosmelt tool.
edit 3: seriously though, if you ever use an NBT editor, you NEED to install that mod I linked. It makes things 9001 times easier. For one thing, you don't have to save and quit the map you're on to edit your own character's data, and for another, the editor can be opened on another entity (tile or mob) by simply pointing at it. No more needing to go into the world file and figure out what entity you wanted.
How do i mess with the config so that i can incease the max leval on my tools cause it only goes to master if you know how to do it reply to this
its a clitch with tinkers jus cheat it in no bigy just get rid of 8 couble as exchange
main.cfg - maxToolLevel
what is this thing where my tool goes weird and says what are you, a chicken? and i have to type a long thing in as a command?

Go to
# Tools that are excluded if the option to nerf non-tinkers tools is enabled.
put this lines inside (same for axe and hoe)
minecraft:stone_pickaxe
minecraft:stone_shovel
etc...
Than Stone Tools are nor useable.

After bronze is either steel/some equivalent or adding a diamond to a bronze tool if you have that option enabled.
