I started doing more playing and designing and building, so it's prodded me to add some more content I want. A sample of what's coming in the next release:
candle holders? Nice, would work well for medieval builds and anyone wanting to make an Amnesia build.

Like most things in the "stuff" component, they'll be flexible. If they're not put on a wall, they'll stand freely as a candlestick or candelabra. If there's a chain above them, they'll hang like a chandelier.
I'm also adding the candles, so I'm also implementing a crop to provide the wax.
Oh cool, looks awesome! And may I say THANK YOU for doing this in 1.7.10! 1.8 gives my computer trouble and this is one of my favorite decorative mods.

Maybe implement compatibility with Pam's HarvestCraft? They have candleberries, which are a source of wax.

Though what I'm finding in general is no mod agrees on a common key for wax, so Pam's might be the only other one supported out the gate.
Yeah, I think all mods should agree on a common key for any item that is used by multiple mods, so that compatibility can be increased.

Alright, I'm sure I'll have to follow this up soon with a few fixes or adjustments, but you can get 1.7.0 now.
Added candelabras (freestanding, on walls, on lattice, on chains).
Added iron hoop (for candelabra-based chandeliers).
Added candles, wax, candelilla, candelilla seeds.
Added candelilla crop that generates in clusters in sandy/desert biomes.
Added candle as a light source for lanterns.
All the variations of the 3 basic candelabra blocks, with final models. The 3 "sizes" emit light levels of 13, 14, and 15.
Of course to craft these things, you'll need candles. And for candles, wax. After mulling on that forever, I've introduced Candelilla as a farmable crop. Candelilla is a plant native to southwest US and Mexico that produces a waxy coating and is sometimes used in candlemaking. Wild clusters will generate in the desert and other sandy biomes (can be disabled in config). Pam's wax can also be used to make candles.
Maybe the biggest waste of a block, but you can craft a wrought iron hoop, which you can attach the candelabras to for bigger chandeliers. Chains connect intelligently. The hoops are useless for anything else at the moment.
First bug: the large chains don't connect to the loop
Suggestion: have the lattices connect to the hoop by extending towards it, and then reaching outwards at 45 degrees down to the ring itself in a + shape as seen from the top, an upside-down Y as seen from the side (though I guess in practice it'd be more like a chicken's foot in 2D, but anyway), with the hoop at the tip of the two "branches" (but they'd be at the bottom). That way the ring could be put on the ground and have a lattice placed above it up to a candelabra (or whatever you want!), and it would also work as a stand base!
But this is a great update! I'd been wanting some more-aesthetic candelabras since playing with Witchery's, and what do you know, Jaquadro suddenly delivers And now of course even people without Thaumcraft can get nice candles in their lanterns Thanks for the great update (and mod in general)!
Incidentally, a lot of this has been driven by a large Witchery build I've been working on. And I don't have Thaumcraft in my world either, so no magic candles for me.
Time to ask again for compatibility with Growthcraft. That has new crops that don't seem willing to grow in tilled garden soil, a tree that would be nice to have in dwarf sizes, bamboo that would make a nice aesthetic extension of your mod, and now you have candles that could use GC's beeswax.
Also, request: could you make it possible to "double up" lattice so that when placed horizontally, it forms a solid barrier with holes too small for humanoid mobs to drop through? None of my other mods let me create a solid yet airy-looking ceiling like that, except for Growthcraft bamboo which doesn't look solid.

You want a farm, you grab a hoe. You want a boat, you grab some wood. You want a fireplace, you grab A FLAMING HELL-BOULDER BECAUSE THAT'S HOW MINECRAFTERS ROLL!!!

Is the tree you're talking about the apple tree? It's basically an oak tree, but I suppose it would be neat to have an ornamental apple tree.
And it sounds like the wooden posts would do the job for the ceiling, since they connect horizontally when not above a block. Unless that wouldn't be "airy" enough
You could also look into Horizontal Glass Panes if you want a straightforward solution!

I tried the latest Growthcraft community edition, and the hops and grapes seem to work okay with the tilled garden soil. The other crops are a little too exotic. I know the bee part has honeycomb, but I see nothing about wax. Not sure how the bee module even works.

Double lattice is somewhere on my roadmap.
There's only two crops that grow on tilled soil(including your garden soil): Hops and grapes. Your garden soil should be capable of being made into a garden soil variant of the rice paddy, simply by tilling it then right-clicking it with a shovel.

I don't plan on supporting that. Some of these more advanced integrations boil down to me fully reimplementing the mod block; renderer and all. It's not sustainable.

I'll end the night with this:
It would be a shame, of course, if they didn't do something interesting with the chain and lattice.

What about Forestry? I seem to remember its wax working in place of some recipes but I could be wrong.

could you make it so when cacti are placed in garden soil they render the same as when in vanilla flower pots rathen than as a whole block

can you make it so cacti can be placed in the window boxes?
