Yes, you can give the villagers modded items, (If they are extremely normal esc. Like say... A pickaxe made of emeralds, that mined as fast as diamond) and 2, I highly doubt that it is compatible. They both edit the villager AI, and the villager model/skins. Not to mention the GUI that opens when you right click them. I would say don't try them together. They MIGHT work... (Possible MCA will spawn in their villagers along side the Helpful Villagers villagers...)

Hi, I have a problem. I tried the crafting option on a farmer and requested that he make me bread. He just goes in his guild hall and stood there. I have the chest and workbench installed and there is wheat in the chest, yet he won't do anything. Anyone know how to solve this problem?

LTserb, The bad thing about that is, every time I get this error it's always a different villager. I just keep restarting until it works. Then randomly it just happens again. It's annoying :(.
Edit: Seems it happens when the villagers return to their houses to unload their collections.

feature to set their home would be helpful, sometime its hard to organize them, and maybe breeding system can be changed because its kinda hard to make them breed
but its really great mod, feel like a boss giving order to the villager and reap their hardwork muahahahhahahahaha
i was going to teach him how to crafting anything. like axe or whatever. so i clicked the "crafting table" symbol, you know where it is.. and when i clicked it. it caused the crashing in the server. but not the client side. You may want to look in it. to find out why its causing the server to crash.
so i hoped that there will be a updated version with lot of problems fixed.
Suggestion:
you may want to make it options where i can tell miners which ores to mine.. when they see one ores or so.. thats in their area.. or in their view. for example, i can tell them to mine ONLY Gold ores.. they do all of gold ores.. and the other miners do one different ores.. like iron ores.. make it easier for organizing.
you can also try add in a option where if theres a limit of how much amounts of block they mined/chopped/harvesting/fishing.. and when they reach that limit. they can go to the guild hall and put the stuff in chest..
because i dislike that they will put stuff in chest only until their pocket is full. so I hope that my suggestion and feedback would help you improve this mod. in future.
EDIT: actually, forget the bug... i mentioned. my friend ran some test and said that there is a conflicts with a mod called "bibliocraft" and its the cause for why the miner is not doing anything.. or for me to use the "crafting table" symbol to teach them the recipe which can lead to crashing... it was a conflict. can you try fix it to make it conflict-free or is there anything i can do to fix that?
Just added this mod to my latest game, and looking forward to trying it. From reading through the thread, I have a question and an observation.
Q: What all can the farmer harvest/plant? I assume vanilla crops, so just carrots, potatoes, and wheat? What about watermelon, pumpkins, sugar cane?
O: Vanilla villagers was the main way I usually get emeralds since I can rarely find them mining. Now, I need an emerald before I can make a merchant guild so it seems almost like a chicken and egg thing.
it worked perfectly first hour, after that it crashes more often and often

Man, I get so far on any map and the entity ticking villager crash happens then never stops. I'm assuming this project must be dead since there haven't been any updates in a while?
For those of you that have success with this mod working past a few days, could you post which version of forge you are using along with any mods installed including the helpfulvillagers version. There has to be a reason the mod crashes for some of us with the "ticking entity"
Edit: Seems the ticking entity crash happens when a villager is near a chest after returning to their guild.
Roughly 95% of Minecraft
players hate Villagers and would be very happy if they were removed. If
you are one of the 5% who actually like villagers, copy this into your
signature and hope it never happens. ~EnderDude124
Hi, I am having some trouble with the mod. I built a building and put a bunch of chests, furnaces and crafting tables and later next to the the door I added the item frame with a hoe indicating that it would be the farmer's guild hall, however whenever I spawn a villager and change his profession to the farmer the villager goes inside the guild hall and everything and then after a few seconds he just stops moving and the game won't let me open any of the crafting tables, furnaces or chests and when I changed him back to a villager he just disappeared. After that, whenever saving and quitting back to title its stays on the screen that says "Shutting down internal server..." and I always have to force quit it. I am using the latest forge and minecraft 1.7.10. Thanks
Farmers are capable of planting and harvesting ANY type of "vanilla-style" crop. This includes wheat, carrots, potatoes, nether wart and any modded crop that uses this vanilla style functionality. They are also able to plant and harvest sugar cane, melons, and pumpkins as well, but due to the unique nature of these crops it might not always work. As for modded crops that share this type of functionality it is pretty much up to chance.
The emerald issue is intentional since unlocking the merchant could potentially give the player access to a large amount of items that would otherwise be very rare. So by making it a bit difficult to unlock the merchant it requires the player to play through the game more before "cheating" with the merchant. However, in a later update I will introduce a way for players to obtain emeralds a little bit easier.

Is there a certain version of forge 1.7.10 that is needed to be used with this mod? Random villagers crash from ticking errors when returning to their chest. I've tried forge 1.7.10 1240 all the way through the latest 1490 and it always crashes with a ticking entity.
Edit: More info on the problem I've been having. To allow me back in the game I used NBTExplorer to move my villager about 20 blocks away from their guild door to allow me time to run to it and block their door to keep them from getting in and near a chest then crashing the game. In the chest in their guild I found abunch of 3/4 damaged shovels. I quickly broke through the guild and patched the wall and went to the villager and clicked to view the trade to see what they had in their inventory. My villager Jill the miner had a stone shovel in the first slot in her regular inventory slot that was 3/4 damaged. I never gave her a shovel, she must of picked it up somewhere from a dead zombie or something. I removed the shovel from the inventory along with any other tools (other than the one in hand) then unblocked the door, she walked in and deposited her inventory without crashing. So it seems that if a tool item is in the inventory (at least in the first slot of the regular inventory slots) the villager tries to deposit it into the chest but causes it to crash, and every time trying to start up from the crash causes them to deposit one again and again and so on until it fills a chest with a duplicated item.
So again, i was getting a ticking entity crash and found it was caused by the villager having a tool in their regular slot and trying to deposit it in chests.
Edit again: Also seemed to happen when my miner gathered an egg.
Yes, you can give the villagers modded items, (If they are extremely normal esc. Like say... A pickaxe made of emeralds, that mined as fast as diamond) and 2, I highly doubt that it is compatible. I appologise if it is already posted on here, but I haven't searched all 35 pages yet.
Easiest fix is to open the world in MCEdit and delete her.
The problem is somewhere in the AI
Hi, I have a problem. I tried the crafting option on a farmer and requested that he make me bread. He just goes in his guild hall and stood there. I have the chest and workbench installed and there is wheat in the chest, yet he won't do anything. Anyone know how to solve this problem?
One of the best mods made for Minecraft ever !!! And I congratulate you for this masterpiece.
Are the breeding mechanics the same as normal villagers ?
LTserb, The bad thing about that is, every time I get this error it's always a different villager. I just keep restarting until it works. Then randomly it just happens again. It's annoying :(.
Edit: Seems it happens when the villagers return to their houses to unload their collections.
feature to set their home would be helpful, sometime its hard to organize them, and maybe breeding system can be changed because its kinda hard to make them breed
but its really great mod, feel like a boss giving order to the villager and reap their hardwork muahahahhahahahaha
Here's another report for a bug:
i was going to teach him how to crafting anything. like axe or whatever. so i clicked the "crafting table" symbol, you know where it is.. and when i clicked it. it caused the crashing in the server. but not the client side.
Thanks!
i cant dowloand this mod it doesnt pop up!
it worked perfectly first hour, after that it crashes more often and often

Man, I get so far on any map and the entity ticking villager crash happens then never stops. I'm assuming this project must be dead since there haven't been any updates in a while?
For those of you that have success with this mod working past a few days, could you post which version of forge you are using along with any mods installed including the helpfulvillagers version. There has to be a reason the mod crashes for some of us with the "ticking entity"
Edit: Seems the ticking entity crash happens when a villager is near a chest after returning to their guild.
How do you make a guild hall for the merchant?
Simply put an item frame above the door and stick an emerald in there.
I just took the Minecraft Noob test! Check out what I scored. Think you can beat me?!
To take the test, check out

Don't click this link, HE is haunting it...
I Think this Mod is Dead...
I'm having an issue. Villagers aren't spawning naturally now, do you have any idea what would cause this?
