I've been away from MC since 1.7, but I came back to play 1.9 for the past couple of weeks, something was just off though, I couldn't put my finger on it, but something was missing from how I remember.
Then it hit me... The reverb in caves. I'm now subbed to the thread so I can't forget it again, and seriously looking forward and hoping for an update to MC 1.9.
Thank you for making this mod, it really does add something special to the game.

Yeah, I'll definitely be updating to 1.9!
I'm a little busy this week though, so it may not be for a little while.
Has the rear-speaker issue been resolved? There doesn't seem to be a changelog for previous versions. (Specifically in regards to the 1.7.10 version in my case.) If not, are there any plans for that?

Do rear speakers work with the vanilla game? What is the problem?

You noted the potential bug some time ago, but nothing else has been said. So I was curious if anything changed in this regard, or if you found a solution.

Oh I see... no, I haven't found a cause for that (and actually have no way to test it myself since I don't have surround speakers unfortunately).
Hi Tmtravlr, I'm experiencing a few weird sound issues with 0.9 for 1.9. I know you said that it was a straight update with no changes, but I don't remember having these issues previously when using Sound Filters.
The issue is, I'm getting very high and strong amounts of reverb in open areas that I shouldn't be, like standing near a building. In this first screenshot, I was standing on the block where I placed the patch of grass when I started getting reverb like I was inside a huge cave or at the bottom of a Ravine. Very very strong and loud reverb that I shouldn't be getting in a pretty open area, also the reverb weirdly faded a lot when I actually entered the building.
Screenshot of where I was standing:
I also got it here too, when walking in-between these buildings. I know there are blocks fairly close together to cause reverb, so you would expect a small amount, but the actual amount was again like being in a huge cave or ravine.
Screenshot:
So what do you think, is this a bug with all versions or just for 1.9?? Do you think it could be fixable, or is it just the limitations of what is possible???

Hey, are the buildings and ground made of stone or a stone-like substance (it's hard to tell with your resource pack)? If so, then that's not too surprising. It tries to pick up on if there are walls near you or open air (to detect if there is a cave), and also the size of space you are in. When you go indoors, then you're in a small space, so it won't reverb much.
If the buildings were made of wood, or there was grass around you, then it wouldn't reverb at all (since wood and grass absorb the sound waves).
I don't think it would be possible to improve that, since it's needed to detect caves... if it really bothers you, then you can place something sound-absorbing around like plants/wool.

Right, I understand. Yes, the buildings in those screenshots were made of sandstone and sand, so that explains it.
I just thought as there was so much open sky above and nothing on 2 sides, especially in the first picture, you wouldn't expect much reverb, but the amount I could hear was huge, like standing at the bottom of a Ravine.
Well either way, it's a small drawback in an otherwise awesome and in my book, essential mod.
Thanks again for the explanation.

You ever been in an area like that in real life? You'll definitely get reverb. Not huge reverb, but reverb nonetheless.
Hello, I'm experiencing problems with this mod in particular.. when added it causes periodic micro-stuttering! I thought it was a shaders problem at first, so I posted here but in the end I found out it is everything related to this mod in particular.. Please look:
Hey, does the spike happen about every 9 seconds? If so, that is probably when it checks the area for what blocks are nearby (for reverb). Go into the config file and lower the I:"Number of blocks reverb will check through:"=1024 to something smaller; see if that helps.
I recorded a video and tried to measure the span between each pick and if I set the beginning of the first pick at 1 second after 45 frames there is the second pick and so on (AE measures time in hours, minutes, seconds and frames). edit: I reduced that value to 512 and the spicks are less noticeable but still persist (less influence on fps but every 40 frames there is a spick)
I tried looking for details and discovered that cyan spikes refer to ticks, so there is a lag spike every X tick.. right?
Ah yeah, I forgot I changed it to every 13 ticks (instead of 9), so roughly every half a second is when it does the check, which is consistant with what you are seeing. If you count the cyan ticks, it is indeed every 13 ticks in your image.
Is it a serious problem, or just a bit annoying? There's really no avoiding the checks, which is why I made it a prime number of ticks (so it likely wouldn't stack with any other mods that do checks every 10 ticks and such). You can always disable the reverb by setting B:"Use Reverb?"=false.
First off, Awesome mod, i love this kind of stuff. i love mods that add in new features without changing the game. good job
but unfortunately i have run into a tiny little bit of trouble. i have had the 1.9 mod working before. however ive got a new computer and i cant seem to get the mod to work. the game launches but alas, no sound filters. is this a common problem?
EDIT: i figured it out. im just an idiot. i dont know why but my mods folder wasnt in my minecraft folder, sorry for the troubles xD
Finally, I've found this mod again

Well, let us know then, I'm looking forward to it
Hey people! Update time!
I have updated the mod to 1.9; nothing has changed from the 1.8 version (though I did tweak the reverb settings a little bit).
Enjoy the update!

Oh snap Thank you, sincerely.

Yes, that's what I said. A little, yes that's expected, but this was an enormous amount.

i don't suppose you could make this mod available without the need of having forge?
otherwise, it sounds great. wish i could install it
Variation is key.
Check out my old and outdated build screenshots here : http://imgur.com/a/p2YnB
I never realized just how much I needed something like this until now.

Hello, allow me to be the first(?) to ask if there are plans to update for 1.9.4.
I'm currently maintaining a 1.9.0 pack, and Sounds Filters is one of only a few that doesn't have a 1.9.4 release yet.
Thanks!
