- ClassicalAlchemy 1.7.10-1.5.1, to fix a crash bug when loading with ArsenicAndLace 1.7.10-1.5.0, and
- ArsenicAndLace 1.7.10-1.5.0 -- finally ported to Simple Ores2 1.5.2+. Yes, Simple Arsenic and Old Lace is back; make metals with all those bones and rotten meat and slimeballs and poisonous potatoes and other junk you have laying around!
- Simple Cthon, Hadite Coal, & GoldenGlitter are all in testing.
- I'm not sure what to do with Steely Glint. Simple Ores' Steel is almost an exact duplicate of Low Steel, stat-wise, except that is is more enchantable and much easier to make. I'm tempted to remove Low Steel entirely, since it isn't a precursor to anything; OTOH, that would mess up people who have Low Steel stuff in their worlds already. Give it an enable/disable config option, maybe?
- I plan to add a recipe for Garden Stuff's Wrought Iron to Steely Glint; however, the planned recipe conflicts with the recipe for Pig Iron in TheOldOne's "Wootz, Pig & Gray" mod. I have considered checking if both Garden Stuff and Wootz are installed, and if so, ore-dictifying pig iron ingots into wrought iron ingots. Thoughts?
SteelyGlint is in testing, and that's the last of them. I decided to bump up the stats on Low Steel and let it fall between Fusion's Steel and High Steel as far as tool stats go, as it is somewhat more hassle to make than Fusion's Steel. Armor stats are about the same as Fusion's Steel.
Plans for the future:
- Make a "Compleat akkamaddi's Additions" mod that includes all the additions in one jar, for the convenience of those who want everything.
- Fix Pig Iron, Wootz & Gray and post a pull request to TheOldOne822 for it.
- move documentation to the GitHub Wiki, because they keep breaking forum software.
If I have updated to the latest release of Simple Ores, am I still able to use older versions of these addons or would I need to update them as well or watch things break? I can revert back (hopefully) to the previous one I had if I need to wait for Steely Glint. I've always had all of Akkamaddi's addons in my world since 164. I really like them. Thanks again for maintaining them.
Steely Glint is being re-tested, as there were some severe recipe conflicts with Alexndr's new fusion Steel; once I've got those nailed down, I'll be uploading Steely Glint (which is the last of 'my' additions to update). I will also need to update the documentation, which I am very, very slowly moving to GitHub Wiki because of this forum's propensity for breaking long posts. This won't stop you from using it, of course--just bear in mind that the SteelyGlint docs will be out-of-date for a bit. However, the NEI integration that Alexndr added for fusion furnaces works fine, so if you use NEI, you can sort out the recipes that will have changed.
You will need to update to the new versions of akkamaddi's Additions, as the old ones (and The Old One's old ones) will break with the new SimpleCore API. None of the necessary support classes are the same as they were in the old SimpleOres2.
Here's a cut & paste of my notes on upgrading to Simple Ores 1.6.0 + new additions, from the Simple Ores thread:
Converted my existing world over to new version, finally. For now, I'm sticking a regular furnace in my processing chain. I still want my mythril furnace back.
Notes on converting from pre-1.5.0 Simple Ores + Akkamaddi's Additions + Netherrocks + Fusion to post-1.5.0 etc:
Stuff that was in the fusion plugin will disappear, because the mod
name changed from "fusionplugin" to "fusion". Count what you have before you upgrade and be prepared to cheat it back in.
Mythril and Onyx furnaces are gone, period. Cheat yourself back a furnace plus the materials you used to make the special furnace. ETA: Alexndr just announced a new plugin that brings back the furnaces, so install that and cheat your furnaces back in.
Copper doors are gone, period, but we have bronze and other doors now.
Other bars and doors moved mods (from whereever to "aesthetics"), so they will disappear from your world. Make note of them and cheat them back in as necessary.
Armor, tools and weapons from Simple Ores and Netherrocks should be okay.
Everything from akkamaddi's additions should be okay.
Well updating all the ores has been put on hold. More pressing issues elsewhere stop the game from loading. I can revert back to an older forge version to play but as for the latest 1291, it is JUST out of my reach.
I'm sorry to hear that--which mod won't play with 1291? That's been the stable recommended version for a while now.
Kingdom Keys mod. It worked perfectly fine in 1231 but as soon as I updated to 1291, I got a Duplicate ID error and I think the issue is an Entity ID conflict which I have no clue how to fix. It doesn't even tell me what it's conflicting with.
Kingdom Keys mod. It worked perfectly fine in 1231 but as soon as I updated to 1291, I got a Duplicate ID error and I think the issue is an Entity ID conflict which I have no clue how to fix. It doesn't even tell me what it's conflicting with.
<checks KIngdom Keys mod thread> ...hasn't issued a new build since 1222 and "isn't designed to work with other mods"?? Um...
My personal policy is to make sure my stuff runs with the current Forge recommended build, because that's what most people are going to be using. It's not really fair to insist that either people use a really archaic version that all their other mods can't use anymore, or a bleeding edge version that their other mods may not be able to use. And I've seen both.
I had an issue before where the mod caused minecraft to think it was being played on a server and wouldn't let me play at all stating "lost connection" if I played offline. So they gave me a different version of the mod that wasn't posted about to fix that problem. I am using 0.7.0 PRE version right now and that didn't change from 1231 to 1291. I didn't update to the full 0.7.0 version yet as it requires Render Player API and I've seen some issues and have no clue of incompatibilities.
Updated several mods for minor configuration file issues. You will need to delete and regenerate your config files for the affected mods if you want the benefits of the fixes.
Cthon 1.7.10-1.5.2
fixed mix-up in config file between setting name and setting category.
Hadite 17.10-1.5.1
fixed mix-up in config file between setting name and setting category.
fixed bad default vein size (0) in ore generation. Please edit or regenerate your config file, or you will never find any hadite coal.
Simple Cobalt 1.7.10-1.5.1
fixed mix-up in config file between setting name and setting category.
Simple Tungsten 1.7.10-1.5.5
fixed mix-up in config file between setting name and setting category.
Steely Glint 1.7.10-1.5.2
fixed typo in config file ('Tungsten' vs 'Iron and Steel')
removed hard dependency on Simple Ores. It still requires akkamaddiCore, Simple Core API & Fusion plugin, though.
Minor re-write of SterlingAndBlack to remove hard dependency on OnlySilver. Now it should work with any mod that provides "ingotSilver" in the Ore Dictionary. Verified to work with Thermal Foundation's silver ingots.
Note that to get OnlySilver's special silver-only enchantments, you'll have to use OnlySilver. Otherwise, everything should work as before--werewolves take damage from Black Silver, and any "ingotSilver" can be used in the fusion furnace recipes.
So Forge has updated from 1.9 to 1.9.4, which helps me decide--yeah, no more mod updates for 1.7.10, and no more porting to 1.8.9. Going to port directly to 1.9.4 from here on out.
It's too much work to keep three separate, incompatible ways of writing Minecraft mods straight in my head. Git is great for keeping the 3 branches of code separate, but I don't have a Git for my brain, so, one port to rule them all, one port to bring them all and in the compiler bind them. Long live 1.9.4!
Also, Mojang has already announced the first 1.10 snapshot, so as far as I'm concerned, 1.7.10 development is dead and overdue for burial, and 1.8.9 is in the ICU.
- seriously consider making them one composite mod, with the ability to disable individual sub-mods in the config. This may actually come first, before releasing a port.
Just in case anyone is still interested in akkamaddi's Additions: I am finally working on porting them to 1.10.2/1.11.2! I've finally caught up all the SimpleOres stuff to that level, now I'm working on the Additions. Some notes:
"akkamaddi's Additions" will be a composite mod, like Vazkii's version of CharSet--all the modules are there, but you enable and disable the ones you want/don't want via config file. This should make it easier for me to manage on CurseForge, and for you to tell if there's a new version.
"Steely Glint" will not be part of the Additions that I am maintaining anymore; I've handed off to TheOldOne822 as it fits in better with his "Pig, Wootz, and Gray" and similar stuff than with Fusion's Steel and the rest of the Additions.
Even though I'm working on the port, don't hold your breath waiting. It will take a while, as the Additions haven't been touched since 1.7.10, so I still have to go through all that JSON model building crap.
They will be using McJty's CompatLayer for 1.10.2/1.11.2 compatibility.
Ignore last year's posts on my plans, because those plans are hopelessly outdated. However, I am working on a 1.12.2 port of Hadite Coal and may get around to the others sometime. Note:
Each of the Additions will have a separate CurseForge page now, because the way it was done before was very confusing for people trying to find the latest & greatest versions.
No particular schedule or plans for anything beyond Hadite Coal yet. Porting old 1.7.10 mods up to 1.12.2 is very nearly a complete re-write, so they will be done when they are done.
Does anyone know if TheOldOne822 is still porting his mods, or even if he's still modding Minecraft?
Understandable. So much has changed since then. Even the jump from 1710 to 1.8 was a BIG thing. I actually forgot what Hadite Coal did. Gotta go back and re-read the info for them.
Two uploads tonight:
- ClassicalAlchemy 1.7.10-1.5.1, to fix a crash bug when loading with ArsenicAndLace 1.7.10-1.5.0, and
- ArsenicAndLace 1.7.10-1.5.0 -- finally ported to Simple Ores2 1.5.2+. Yes, Simple Arsenic and Old Lace is back; make metals with all those bones and rotten meat and slimeballs and poisonous potatoes and other junk you have laying around!
