The "k" spamming was a bug testing feature I forgot to remove, but it should be gone now. And yes, extract both jar files to the mods folder. I'll put everything inside one jar sometime, but for now it'll do with two. The reason is that one of the files gives access to some fields and methods inside Minecraft, and the other file does everything else; fixes sounds, textures and handles configuration.
I've come across a bug while using this mod (v0.15) with Extra Utilities (v1.1.0k). I believe because this mod changes the rain particle texture it's causing the watering can from Extra Utilities to not render the watering effect. Disabling Better Rain causes the issue to go away. I have no idea if this is an issue that you can fix or not, but thought I'd report it anyway.
EDIT: I just discovered that the watering animation does work while it's raining in the world, but does not work when it's not raining. Hope this helps.
Hmm, that's odd. The mod does nothing but brighten up the water particles. Are you sure they are completely gone? Or maybe Extra Utilities uses the rain texture somehow and the mod messes it up as rain is less thick? Take a good look and see if there are no particles or they are just difficult to see. It shouldn't just disappear. Thank you for reporting this issue
EDIT: My bad. This is an issue from the mod's side. I just read your comment again and realized something. I'll fix this as soon as I can
Hi, Wirsbo. I like your better rain mod very much because of the low noise and control over rainstrength. Is it possible to make a mod to control occurance (and change sound) of lightning in a storm?

Hey Wirsbo, have you made any progress on this fix?
Awesome! I used to HATE rain. You literally couldn't hear anything else. You could always turn down the weather volume but this is a lot better. I like how it chooses from a few rain densities.
I love this mod. This is how the rain should be in vanilla minecraft. I love how the lowest level of rain looks. Just like real life. The only thing I have against the mod is how quiet the rain is in the higher levels of rain. I like the quiet sound for the low, but when its a full storm, I can barely hear it.
Perhaps add an option so that you can pick weather you want the rain to sound louder or not. Maybe a slider bar perhaps?
If I may, I would like to like to add this to my little mod pack with your permission of course.
Keep up the good work.
Hobbits out.

Is this mod dead? Haven't seen an update in months, which is a shame because it's one of my favorite and must have mods for any modded Minecraft environment.

WHY THE 1.6.4 VERSION DON'T EXIST?????

There is volume setting - config file.

You are doing everything correctly but apparently volume changing is broken in this version.
So, this mod is really dead?

This mod might be dead...
yes it is dead take a look at the main page
If someone would continue developing this mod in the place of the original author due to his studies than I would be absolutely stoked.
Dang... I hate it when this happens.
