I'm having a very odd problem with RIM. I built a stripminer, which I move via the template carriages, and it works perfectly, except that if I leave it running on the server and go to sleep, when I log back in next it's broken, all all the blocks, tiles, etc. are just gone, although whatever items were in them are still around. I'm not sure if it's a weird interaction with Mystcraft, or possibly one of the other mods, but I do know it happens every time. For example, last night I logged off at about midnight, and the stripminer worked perfectly fine until its sudden destruction around 8 in the morning.
I can tell from the server log about when it happens, because the world is unloaded. The log doesn't really give any useful information, though:

Well I just had a chance to update to 2.2.0 and lib 1.2, but I still have the same problem. entering peripheral.call("back","move",1,false,false) results in no motion on my server, but works fine in single player mode. I timed it right this time with the fml log below which contains only me booting up the server, trying that command on my CC terminal twice, and stopping the server. I looked through it but I don't know what I am looking for.
Nothing would be greater than to have this mod working on my server... I want to build a mobile mining rig!
I had previously built a mining rig back in 1.6.4 with RIM that used a CC computer. It turned out to be a bad idea, because at least at that point, a program running on a computer started a thread which wasn't closed when the computer was turned off by the carriage moving, and a new thread would be started when the computer turned back on, so the memory usage from all those unclosed threads would just go up, and up, and up....
I built a new one in 1.7.10 that's pretty similar to the 1.6.4 one, that uses BC gates instead, and it works a lot better- except for the weird sudden destruction bug I mention in my last post.
My stripminer uses RIM, AE2, Ender Chests, Buildcraft, Extra Utilities, Thermal Expansion, and Chicken Chunks. If and when TE brings back their cabling, it won't need ExUt:
These are the materials used to make it (there's also a full stack of speed upgrades in the energy transfer node): Each of the mining wells has a basic gate attached to the bottom of the gold pipe behind it, set to emit on the red pipe wire if the well has work to do. Under the tesseract on top of the gold pipe is one set to emit redstone if the pipe wire is on. The tesseract is set to high redstone signal, it's on when the gate underneath is emitting. The iron or gate under the chest is set to emit on the blue pipe wire if there are items in the chest or if the red wire is on. The iron or gate next to the timer is set to emit redstone if the blue wire is on. The timer is set for 2 seconds. The orange carriage behind it is only there to provide a chunkloader when the stripminer is moving, as a safety measure to make sure the chunks aren't unloaded before the one on the stripminer is done moving. On the stripminer is a third iron or gate that's set to emit redstone if the blue wire is on or off (i.e., always). The orange carriage timer is set to 5 seconds, the gates on it are set to either emit redstone if red pipe is on, or emit red pipe if redstone detected (from the iron or gate on the stripminer).

I was wondering i i can get some clarification regarding the carriage adapters. The documentation on them is extremely vague and doesn't actually tell me much. I tried a logical approach based on what was said about them. However whenever a carriage moves the adapter doesn't grab adjacent carriages. It just slides past it till it connects with the real carriage. Also the carriage engine will not move the adaptor as stated as a requirement. So i'm curious if this is a unfinished feature or a unintended bug. That or if i am simply just not understanding what i'm supposed to do. Cause your documentation also states i can link different types of carriages together with it. Which sadly is not the case if i again understand it correctly.
Has anyone here managed to get it too work?

Let me see... Seems like you released something wrong. Think of the adapters more like... Carriages Engines. You cannot connect them to the Gray Phantom blocks of the Template Carriage, but only to the Purple anchor block.

And I realized I did not put what version I wanted but you guessed correctly the one for 1.7.10. Thank you again! Keep up the brilliant work. Also I am sure you get asked this a lot. I have some knowledge of java and would like to find a good place to start learning how to make mods with mcp and forge. Any ideas where I should start?
Follow the Forge wiki tutorial for setting up a basic mod. If you have anything in particular you'd like to do, I'd recommend reading the source code of mod or vanilla things that do about what you want. (In my other mod, I made gravity bombs for dropping from frames based on sand and TNT.) If not, look around vanilla for inspiration in the form of hooks you can (ab)use. (I'd recommend against starting with RemIM - the original developer had a very unusual set of programming conventions. My other mod Gizmos is hopefully easier reading if you have syntax highlighting, and each component is far smaller in scope so there is less to read.)
I have a question/suggestion: Would it be possible to allow for longer movement than single blocks? I would love a fluid motion from one point to the other. Or am I just overlooking something? Thanks in advance for any help and thanks again for your great work!
Also I was wondering if there is a better way to move the carriage with the controller than just waiting with os.sleep(x). Is it possible to know when the carriage has finished moving the platform?
Right Click your Motor/Engine/Controller with the Screwdriver, they will then show one blue lightning bolt on the center of each side. The continuous mode has only 0.2 seconds of cooldown between the movements, but you can change that in the config.
Be sure, however, that you have one way to stop the the carriage at some point.
Also, get OpenComputers, they have computers that don't reboot after chunk reloads.

It spams my console while trying to make a world and the world never makes so I have to force close minecraft. Could you please help me with this I would love to use this mod.
How long did you let it run for? I think I know what causes that error, and while it is harmless it's possible that all the logging required in printing it slows down your client so much that it seems to have crashed. I'll release a fixed version as soon as I finish a few improvements to the FMP carriage.
New version, this time with some new things: version 2.3.0 adds the often-requested rotation (although it has problems with directional blocks) and overhauls hollow carriages. Get it from the usual place.

I had previously built a mining rig back in 1.6.4 with RIM that used a CC computer. It turned out to be a bad idea, because at least at that point, a program running on a computer started a thread which wasn't closed when the computer was turned off by the carriage moving, and a new thread would be started when the computer turned back on, so the memory usage from all those unclosed threads would just go up, and up, and up....
I built a new one in 1.7.10 that's pretty similar to the 1.6.4 one, that uses BC gates instead, and it works a lot better- except for the weird sudden destruction bug I mention in my last post.
My stripminer uses RIM, AE2, Ender Chests, Buildcraft, Extra Utilities, Thermal Expansion, and Chicken Chunks. If and when TE brings back their cabling, it won't need ExUt:
These are the materials used to make it (there's also a full stack of speed upgrades in the energy transfer node): Each of the mining wells has a basic gate attached to the bottom of the gold pipe behind it, set to emit on the red pipe wire if the well has work to do. Under the tesseract on top of the gold pipe is one set to emit redstone if the pipe wire is on. The tesseract is set to high redstone signal, it's on when the gate underneath is emitting. The iron or gate under the chest is set to emit on the blue pipe wire if there are items in the chest or if the red wire is on. The iron or gate next to the timer is set to emit redstone if the blue wire is on. The timer is set for 2 seconds. The orange carriage behind it is only there to provide a chunkloader when the stripminer is moving, as a safety measure to make sure the chunks aren't unloaded before the one on the stripminer is done moving. On the stripminer is a third iron or gate that's set to emit redstone if the blue wire is on or off (i.e., always). The orange carriage timer is set to 5 seconds, the gates on it are set to either emit redstone if red pipe is on, or emit red pipe if redstone detected (from the iron or gate on the stripminer).
I was wondering i i can get some clarification regarding the carriage adapters. The documentation on them is extremely vague and doesn't actually tell me much. I tried a logical approach based on what was said about them. However whenever a carriage moves the adapter doesn't grab adjacent carriages. It just slides past it till it connects with the real carriage. Also the carriage engine will not move the adaptor as stated as a requirement. So i'm curious if this is a unfinished feature or a unintended bug. That or if i am simply just not understanding what i'm supposed to do. Cause your documentation also states i can link different types of carriages together with it. Which sadly is not the case if i again understand it correctly.
Has anyone here managed to get it too work?

Let me see... Seems like you released something wrong. Think of the adapters more like... Carriages Engines. You cannot connect them to the Gray Phantom blocks of the Template Carriage, but only to the Purple anchor block.

Right Click your Motor/Engine/Controller with the Screwdriver, they will then show one blue lightning bolt on the center of each side. The continuous mode has only 0.2 seconds of cooldown between the movements, but you can change that in the config.
Be sure, however, that you have one way to stop the the carriage at some point.
Also, get OpenComputers, they have computers that don't reboot after chunk reloads.
