Download this mod, find and open your .minecraft (or custom) folder, and put this mod in the mods folder (if you don't have a mods folder, run minecraft with forge installed once).
Run the game, and enjoy the music. =)
If you find any problems, please leave a comment. I really appreciate it. =)
Thanks. It was literally less than 24 hours ago I placed a comment on another modders page to make a mod that does this (they made one that fixed the texture bugs). Now I can use 1.7.2!
Great! =) Yeah, I've been looking for a mod that fixes this, and couldn't find one, so I decided to just make one myself.
My only problem with this mod is that whenever I use my noteblock doorbell, the background music is cut out. I do appreciate this fix, but I need to hear at least something in the background while playing a videogame. However you have done a great job on this fix.

Hmm, there's supposed to be an option in the config file to disable that (the music cutting out when you play a record/noteblock).
Whoops... *facepalm* I forgot to actually load the config file.
I also added an option to not count noteblocks as record sounds (they are classified as record sounds by default, which was why they were cutting out the background music for you).
If you add a clearly visible (music-related) feature, I see a higher probability of mod reviews in your feature. (Like custom music playing in biomes.)Hope this post helps. Also turning the background music back on, after a record is done would be nice.

I actually have another mod which adds the ability to play music in other biomes and dimensions in 1.6.4. I might update that one to 1.7.2 and combine it with this one. =)
I think turning the background music back on after a record plays would be complicated. There isn't an event for when music stops, so I wouldn't have a way to tell when the record ends.
I just noticed that changing the tune on a noteblock stops all music and jukebox tunes.
Yeah, by default the noteblocks are considered record sounds. In the config file I put an option to ignore them (and let the background and record music keep playing).
I figured it might still be useful though if you create a noteblock melody and want them to keep the background music from playing over top.
Hi everyone!
This is a little mod that fixes the overlapping music in 1.7.2, both the background music and records.
You can allow or disallow multiple records to play at the same time in the config file.

Do you mean the "mods" folder? (If so then yes)
Yeah =), I just hope people who need this can find it.

Good to hear. =)
Thanks. =) I need to find a way to advertise it. People normally don't make video reviews and such for small mods like this.

I'm working on an open-source mod called Craft++. Check it out!
It should. Of course they fixed the overlapping music after 1.7.2, but it should still be useful for the records and noteblocks.
