I do want to continue it, get some more stuff done until Oli gets back, but the point is, I'm very busy with Erebus development and real-life stuff, so I don't have the time to (temporarly) adopt this (yet).
Sure, take your time
Will Oli get back by the way? Some day?
As much as I want to continue this, the team is currently very inactive and I would have to search for new coders that can be active. I do not know why Iridium and Stebobson are gone so much, perhaps they've given up (Stebobson is there regularly-ish, derp me), but anyways: I can't do anything until there are good coders that want to step up and help create this.
If that happens, I'll happily continue it and make sure Oli finds a nice surprise when he gets back (if he ever will... Oli, we miss you!).
EDIT: I've taken over. Got a somewhat-decent plan of attack, and tomorrow I will start my epic quest to find some more coders for the mod.
Is everyone sure that M.Compost has disappeared? Anyone got his skype or anything? It just seems strange. He normally tells us when he's going to have a long break. And also, unless anyone knows him in real life, who knows? Anything could happen. Maybe he's managed to stop playing Minecraft altogether (what a genius he'd be) ....
We all (anyone in angry pixel and many other people too) have his skype and nobody has ever seen him online afaik. But from time to time he comes online on this forum (just like today, look at his profile). Real life always has priority and who knows whats going on, let's just hope he's fine.
Dang, from what i've seen they were pretty friggin close to finished, I wonder what happened.... Anyway, Dylan will you be restarting from scratch or did you get the source somehow? If you're restarting that's gonna be pretty dang tough for a mod of this size and scope, best of luck!
All the files like models and textures are on the dropbox and I still have the old files (before v2.0, the reboot) on my computer, but I don't know if those would be useful for yet another recode or restart. And as far as I know there was not a lot done in the Betweenlands v2.0 except the altars and the druids, I don't think that the dimension was/is in v2.0 yet (but don't quote me on that, not sure).
Oh, I didn't even know about the reboot. Last I saw the dimension was mostly done and they were about done with the prime wight battle...
Well it wasn't mostly done, there was still a lot to add (what you saw was maybe 20-40% of the planned content). But there was already enough content to play survival with it (with recipes, mobs, ores and that stuff). The prime wight battle and the credits were also already working. The main problem was that there were many bugs and performance issues.
Mr.Compost and I became relatively good friends, and he showed a lot of ambition for this project. I don't believe he would abandon it without reason, and haven't heard from him in a long time. I hope everything is alright with him.
They should just release it so people can just play it and report bugs
As a person holding onto one of the most up-to-date copies of the mod (which was actually scrapped and started over entirely...), I can tell you that this is not something that they can release for testing. It's far too early in development to be of much use to anybody other than toying around for a little bit.
So, you guys still hang around here, huh? Sorry about all this... this mod is pretty much over now. I tried very hard to get it going, as you've seen, but as many of you know, the modding community isn't as big or dedicated as it used to be, which makes things like this hard. The reason I vanished so suddenly is because of personal issues involving money; I had to move house... AGAIN. Therefor, it was a while before I could even get back to this. Thing is... I actually enjoyed getting away. When you're project has a fanbase as loving and awesome as this, it puts a lot of pressure on you, and getting away from all that was nice. Thing is though, I felt increasingly awful about the whole affair, and became more and more aware of all the messages I am getting off guys like you asking how I am doing. Eventually, I just had to let it all out, since I felt so damn apologetic. I'm probably rambling on here, but you get the idea. I'm just so sorry. You stuck around for so long, so put much faith in me and my team... and I let you down
Which brings us on to a spot of better news - whilst THIS mod is as good as dead, the content that went into it will still live on in another awesome mod being developed by a truly great team (it seems half of forgecraft are working on the thing!) called Questology. I did ask about if a small version of the BL could be implemented, but they are staying away from becoming a dimension mod. There will however be a few Easter eggs and such in this mod's memory, which is nice.
So... what will I be doing from now on? I'm not sure... I will most likely hang around Twitter for those of you who have it. If I do ever do something MC related, it will probably just be a few random projects like a texture pack or something.
So, as sad as this makes me feel, it is probably just for the best. The mod couldn't get far under my (skilled, yet honestly amateur) wing, but at least all of our hard work will do good in another life. Until the next time, thank you so very much, I am truly sorry, and goodbye.
I will have only the fondest memories of you.
Farewell (unless you come say on Twitter!)
In memory of an awesome mod!
*sob* Nooooo!*sob* Why why did this thing because other mods to be distracted from existing walls failing to even show up it's so had this waste of time and resources this misery all for not and few people will even read and respond to this at this point
Rollback Post to RevisionRollBack
Help save my poor eggs...you wouldn't just let them die would you?
for those of you that don't know me i am the head of the questology project. MrCompost has kindly let us use the textures, sound, models and music from the between lands in the questology project. If you still want to see some of the awesome content that was made for the betweenlands in a mod check out questology here:
