I have received a PM from one of the IC2 devs, stating that my code is too similar to IC2's code (which he wrote himself).
Which is fair enough, I admit. I will now proceed to closing down the mod, taking down the git repository and any downloads. I'm sorry folks, I don't want this to cause even more drama in the modding community than there already is.
Laters! Better luck next time, I will try to come up with more 'new' ideas.
If any moderators read this; I'd like this topic to be locked, since I can't do this myself.

If the above is true I'd like to see evidence of it since it seems like a bold accusation to simply make out of nowhere. It's not like I can just walk up to another modder and claim they ripped off my idea or code and get away with it (not that I have any but that is completely beside the point). Why should anyone else?
I'm gonna go ahead and back up what sciguyryan said, the accusation is entirely out of the blue and it's not right at all to force a mod author to take their mod down without solid proof of plagiarism. With any luck this is just a misunderstanding as I've neither seen nor heard anything wrong with what you've been doing in your mod so far.

I looked at your code a few days ago because months ago before becoming distracted I had similar ideas and wanted to see how you approached them. The code was similar *because they do similar things*. It's natural that such code will be similar in function.
In response to closing, don't let bullying get to you, your mod is awesome and is doing awesome things for the TE3 addon community. with the exception of copy-pasting code, it's outright bullying to make someone close their mod because it "seems" similar.
Things are being discussed now. I need to have a good sleep first, but keep an eye out for news.

In complete seriousness these accusations are serious and unless there is some backing to them they need to be deal with. False accusations can be too easily used as a blunt bat to crush things people don't like. If this is what is happening here it needs to be stopped.
Actually I have seen the code myself, it was an open source mod and at one point I even had my own local Git branch.
What the IC2 team has said is a complete load of (language filter) and they should be ashamed of themselves. Of course there will be some code similarity, its a jetpack mod so it needs armor rendering, a packet handler, a control handler, etc. To quote the Social Network "Not everyone who has a built a nice chair owes money to the guy that invented chairs".

My God. That is an EPIC quote. I think that this mod should be back up and IC2 should be down. They have changed IC2 so much that it has lost it's "fun factor".

If Minecraft were real, you'd be a zombie right now.
Hopefully once this is all sorted out the Author will be willing to continue. And if not, if both parties would be willing, for it's adoption into Thermal expansion as a whole.

<KingLemming> [10:58:39] but here's the deal
<KingLemming> [10:58:59] if tonius thinks this is serious enough to discontinue
<KingLemming> [10:59:08] I'll reimplement jetpacks as part of TE
<tonius11> [10:59:18]
<KingLemming> [10:59:35] using the CoFHLib functions which are established and have less than nothing to do with IC2
<sciguyryan> [10:59:54] tonius11: That's not saying you should stop
<sciguyryan> [11:00:01] Just that KL won't let your work die.
<KingLemming> [11:00:11] the potato pack is too funny to not use
<KingLemming> [11:00:24] so with permission, I'll copy the structure and tech progression
<KingLemming> [11:00:34] copy the "idea" if you will
<KingLemming> [11:00:41] and then the code will be way the *CENSOR* different

Ay Good guy lemming! Three cheers for the conquering hero! RF Jetpacks ride again! *boosts into the heavens with Potato dreams*
Just an update for everyone - a few of us "senior" devs in the community are looking into the alleged infringement.
For what it's worth, I'm not seeing any. Mod should be up for download again IMO.
Thanks for the absolute clarification. That's all I needed to hear. I'm pleased to announce that I will continue to support Simply Jetpacks' inclusion in The Crack Pack.
[Edit]Invar chestplates look a lot like Iron Chestplates. My bad.

Seriously the IC2 guys need to pull a stick out of there but.
