Well I'm fine here with my 1.7.10 modpack, hey OP, can you add in that bit that Superflat does to the configs, where you can increase the size of a village? I've got a bunch of mods that add villagers and houses in my pack, but I'm having trouble finding some of them, would be nice to have a better chance of finding them without covering the world in villages.
Love the mod. Any chance you could upload this to curse? I'm trying to put together a modpack over there and would love to include your mod, but I can't seem to add mods from non-curse sources.
I've noticed a recurring theme throughout this mod's thread has been people asking for Biomes O Plenty support. The people who are interested in this mod are looking to create more rich and interesting generated worlds, and adding biomes goes hand in hand with that goal, so it makes sense that so many people are asking about biome mods in a thread about a village mod. The response has been that "Mo Villages *does* support BOP, Mo Villages just doesn't generate villages on the BOP added biomes".
I've recently been tinkering with the two mods, and please allow me to shed light on why this has not satisfied people:
BOP *fills* the world with it's own biomes. By the default settings it's difficult to find hardly any vanilla (land) biomes with BOP enabled. Even with extensive BOP customization, you cannot directly increase vanilla biome percentage in BOP level-types. BOP is configured by specifying weights of the *new* BOP biomes. The only way (I have found, and not even found stated anywhere online) to increase vanilla biomes in a BOP world, is to reduce the weights of all the BOP biomes. However the weights are integers and default between 1-10. This means about the best you can do is half the amount of BOP biomes in your world in exchange for vanilla biomes, before losing all relative scale resolution between biomes (using weights 1-4 is about as low as it can go before they are all 1 and all the same).
The point is, you end up with a world that is less than 50% vanilla (even in extreme customized cases), and probably less than 10% vanilla in standard configs. This means that Mo Villages basically do not spawn at all in a BOP world (except in oceans which I will get to).
If you turn up the village spawn rate in the MoVillages config? This makes villages more likely to spawn in the vanilla biomes when they appear (making them large and patchy), and can sort of be used to compensate for the high footprint of unsupported biomes around. The problem is since ocean biomes are uniquely still vast, and flat, you end up with oceans spammed full of ocean villages while land only has patches of them in random vanilla biomes. You can then disable ocean villages in the config, but I like those Ocean villages you made! (In moderation, that is)
So while Mo Villages doesn't crash with BOP, respectfully, it can hardly be said to "work with" or "support" BOP. It would just be very nice if the random distribution of villages could be equally distributed over new mod biomes. It might also help to add an ocean village wieghting/rarity setting independent of the rest, since the ocean flatness tends to overspawn villages even in vanilla worldtypes (this is my opinion).
Please don't take this as an entitled demand, you have done an excellent job resurrecting this mod, and your work is appreciated. I just hope to impress upon you the leverage value that could come from (what I would naively expect to be) minimal refactoring to basically blacklist boimes rather than whitelisting them. And I hope that you would factor it into your prioritization for future development time. It's the one additional thing I would like the most from this mod, and judging from this thread I'm not alone.
I know you are busy with school and you haven't been active in a long time. I also know meeting peoples constant demands can be tiresome and eventually you burn out. If you have lost interest in maintaining the mod, would you consider putting the source on github so that someone else could contribute?

I would like to second this. It's an amazing mod and you've already put a lot of work into it, and I can certainly understand not having the time to make such a huge change to how the mod works.
If you can make it work with BOP, then that would be wonderful. Otherwise, if you're willing to let someone else do the work, equally great!

I have tried to find my configure account, and i even tried to find the mod in game with my mods folder, and i cannot find the Mo' Villages config file or anything. Only the .jar file in the mods folder of .minecraft! DX It doesn't work. I have always had this sorta trouble with mods tho...

Hello, your mod is really great but lately I had a problem with it.
The game crashed and I had to remove your mod (version 1.3.1 for 1.7.10)
after removing your mod it worked correctly, so yeah it's from your mod
Here is the crash report: http://pastebin.com/C4kbrbGe
Here is the log: http://pastebin.com/3AXV1L35
Please fix it, I want to keep using your mod because I love villages
Hope this can help you > https://github.com/Glitchfiend/BiomesOPlenty/issues/396

Hi everybody,
I know it's been a long time since I've been active, and I decided that as I am not going to continue working on this mod, I should give it to someone else. As of now, this mod is The_WeatherPony's and their page can be found here:
http://www.minecraftforum.net/forums/mapping-and-modding/minecraft-mods/2641558-mo-villages-v1-4-for-1-7-10-updated-23rd-of-march
They have fixed several of the main bugs, and if you are looking for updates, head there!
Thanks for all your support!

Looks great! Now I don't have to scour the face of the earth seven times to find a village!
I have to say, originally, looking at this mod, you think its kind of boring, but it actually is a very nice well thought of mod. It kind of gives minecraft the vibe that it needs you know? it makes villages way more exciting to go to even when your in a heavy modpack
Where do you write the number to adjust the spawn rate in notepad??
Cool modpack bro

Can you add a pvp arena and a redstone hut in this mod.
