This is a non-actionable comment which serves little less purpose than a complaint.
Ultimately, it's a bit more involved than AE1, but it is now much more decorative, fun, and customizeable. You can craft things at much quicker speeds than you could in AE1. The hardest part is coming to terms with that AE1 and AE2 are effectively different mods and that AE1 is no more as of 1.6.
Is there a particular portion you are struggling with?

Hey guys, We are hosting this mod and many more on our new mod pack DIE an extremely difficult pack the likes of which no one has ever seen before. Come check our main post here. This pack is a currently being hosted on a server as a raiding/pvp server.

...I just snake Dense Cables all over my base whenever I need more channels. More resource intensive, but easier on the math. And you can use microblock covers to keep cables from connecting, so there's not even a problem with having to keep gaps between them.
...I really should work out how to make proper use of p2p tunnels at some point...

they are quite fun once you get enough diamonds (the biggest downside) and multiple controllers

At the moment I've got a full 7x7 sized (mostly decorative) Controller multiblock sitting in the floor of my main ME room, with... 3 Quanum Rings and 5 Dense Cables, I believe, leading off to other places. I'll see about posting pics when I get a chance. Probably tomorrow.
Diamonds become pretty much a non-issue once you get to the point that you can set up a MFR laser drill or a Botania/Blood Magic ore generation setup (or similar ore-from-nothing methods). I've actually found that glowstone is my limiting resource. It's just about the only thing (from vanillia) that I haven't been able to work out a way to make infinite without resorting to ProjectE. That and clay.

Problem solved
Here's my biggest problem with this mod; its a major pain in the ___(fill in the blank). You spend hours trudging across the landscape to find large rocks that have obliterated the surroundings just to find a pattern (press) that you've already found. Kinda like FF level grinding. So, you finally find them and go back to base. Pure Certus Quartz Crystal...grinding, waiting. Fluix Crystals...grind away. In a single player game none of these are necessarily that bad, but in multiplayer its almost cruel trying to find the patterns. Documentation, like most mods it seems, is lacking or out of date.
Having said all that, I would like to also add that I do indeed find this new iteration of AE to be fun and appreciate the effort put forth in it but I truly believe that it has been overly complicated

Hey guys,
I'd like to know, if there is a hard-limit for the amound of Exporters/Interfaces/Importers (etc) you can have on a single ME System? (Nor talking about channels, I am talking about limits in coding).
I am currently using a system with several dense cables (basically automating everything from Crafting to Processing Ores), more than 150 channels in use for sure (images attached), and what is bugging me is that the import chest (two sets of ender chests/pouches that I use to import everything into the system) sometimes get stuck and I need to replace the import bus for it to work again.
(And sometimes, it cease working a few seconds afterwars)
The server is running fine, no overload messages or anything.
I just found a way to use an export bus with a crafting card and a chest with an import card to make automated crafting without tying up any of my molecular assembly chambers. What a neat mod this is!

I honestly doubt this. The crafting card works by allowing the export bus to request a crafting job, not by doing the crafting itself.
I am using the Energy Acceptor to convert power from RotaryCraft Hydrokinetic engines. The energy acceptor works fine when connected directly but when I use a shaft junction to split the shaft power 1:1 even then the Energy Acceptor no longer receives power via the shaft junction. Is this a bug of some sort?
I typically make 1 64k with a coprocessor and 2 or 3 other units that just have a 1 or 4k crafting storage, and nothing else (basically a multi-block made up of a single block). If you have the large unit designated as the highest number, it should use the smaller ones for most jobs, and only go to the big one when you have a job that needs more storage (and thus, would benefit more from the coprocessor).
How do you configure it to make the largest unit have the highest number?
I cannot get the quantum network bridge working (at all or properly)... Yesterday I created a void age.. Put 1 quantum bridge at my old base... Dense cell, power accepter, dimensional transeiver.... Chunkloaded... This network bridge is hooked up to one of my controlers with a smart cable.
Put the other in my void age.. chunk loaded... also dense energy cell, etc...
Put in entangled singularities in the link chambers.. The particle effects in the link chamber only showed when I changed ages to my void age and back.
But I cannot get anything from my AE network in the void age... Empty... yesterday I briefly had it working but then when I changed ages... Nothing again.. Again.. both sides are chunkloaded. Lights are on on both network bridges.
Running #1277 forge with similar mods as DW20 except ic2 and addons but all mods fully updated.
HELP
>> edit: well it works now.. Not sure exactly what I did that fixed it.. Guess hooking up power to the link chamber itself instead of on one of the other parts... Weird stuff tho.
Spoke too soon.. Once I restarted my server and client... Cannot access my AE network items from the void side...
This is definitely broken. I'm also noticing very weird issues now with trying to connect smart cables.. They do not connect but immediately pop off again...
When setting up the Quantum bridge you need to build both multi block parts. Power BOTH sides directly then insert your singularities they should connect. AFTER and only AFTER you have them connected can you remove the power from the remote side as the power will come from across the quantum bridge.

Did AE2 (latest beta builts) somehow remove/ the support for waila to show the AE2 channels? I've read that somewhere and if so, why the heck would you do that?
Are you playing on a server? If so its very glitchy. Sometimes it works and sometimes it doesnt. But if they did actually remove it (havent read something about it) then id say thats somewhat stupid :/
[quote=substerNL;/members/substerNL;/forums/mapping-and-modding/minecraft-mods/1294449-applied-energistics-2-open-source?comment=1303]Yeh.... Very, very rarely I do see info... I'm guessing it is buggy waila to blaim (hate to say but it gets worse with every patch, it still works with 1.55 of waila but that one doesn't work with the latest NEI which is then not showing anything).
Unfortunately the author of waila is totally not interested in reading the forums or responding to people.
I can't imagine why he'd ignore the forums. I mean, the people are so nice and kind and understanding and not horribly self-entitled jerks.
