That is a much better tutorial, someone should ad that to the MiTE wiki for newcomers. Also If I can have you permission I'd like to put that on the MiTE Reddit page, I know it has few users but it was the first place I went to and was discouraged when I discovered it was near death.
It's already posted on the web on a public forum without copyright notes = as far as I'm concerned it's already public domain. So yeah "Reddit" it or "whatever" it as much as you want! :-)
Here's an interesting tidbit: Yesterday there were 4700 sessions of MITE played and a significant portion of them were in China.
I remember us experiencing short delays in the game back a couple of versions and we mentioned it to you and then they went away. We suspected that you had some sort of new feature reporting back to you. Appears we were right huh?

The delays were most likely caused by the game playing catch up with lighting calculations when I implemented the new lighting system (the one that eliminated dark spots). Once the missing data was filled in for each chunk your worlds ran smoothly again.

That is actually quite incredible that there are that many people playing the Mod. Congratulations. It must be a satisfying feeling to know that it is being used so prolifically. You would not actually get that impression from the forum with only 10 or so people posting to it. The only evidence was that one guy saying that there were 10,000 Chinese playing it and quite frankly none of us believed him. Well if there 4,700 playing it yesterday then there could easily be 10,000 Chinese playing on a regular basis.
What other info can you share with us about the usage? (Highest usage in a day, or average Daily usage, etc). It would be quite fascinating and heartening to hear more about the utilization of the mod.

Yeah it was surprising. I figured there was only a handful of people playing the mod. Some of those 4700 will be multiple sessions by the same person so the real number of individuals who played the mod yesterday was probably in the range of 2500 to 3500 I would guess.
It's satisfying to know that this mind virus of mine has taken hold of so many people. I'll email you some additional info.
Well, until maps can be activated either in a "snap to grid" fashion, or in a "when you hold a map in direct inventory, and activate a new map, the new map is placed adjacent to the other map, so that there is no map overlap"' method, then maps in MITE will forever remain of very secondary usefulness.
Avernite, I'd be curious if you can distinguish between specific users vs merely overall MITE sessions. Finding how exactly how many unique players play the mod, the hours of play per month distribution, and the distribution by country, would be cool to see.
Also, of course, Google would be interested in having all that "so called anonymized" data to resell it to advertisers.
Yah. Those kinds of things usually end up so badly. First its for "scientific data", then mere a bit-twisted-but-still-innocent curiosity, then morbid fascination about how much data you can rip off the unsuspecting! Next thing you know, police come to your house and you get accused of influencing the Chinese elections or something! (hey if russians did it for the us, it means it's easy to do, right? right?)
I can see the little green dot for my island of Bermuda but sadly no red dot on it. Warn me next time will ya and I will log into my world and get killed by something?!? lol

What was your username again? I can't recall it at the moment.

I have a bad feeling Avernite is going to do a quick course in Chinese, change the forum to Chinese from English, and reissue R139 onwards in Chinese only.....

Congrats Zumi!
You forgot the stack of Olive Goop!
Oh wait that hasn't been added yet lol!
Pro Tip: Bring only a copy of your map with you. Leave another copy safely at home. Especially a max zoom map that takes hours to fully reveal.

Username, IP, and time of session start is available. I don't want to make it too much of an obsession

Those are all unique usernames? Wow. Incredible.
Props to you for this idea. Reminds me when I first played the game and I didn't know what to do haha. It felt so difficult. Love that feeling
