In the next update Cogs have been removed temporarily until I can find a way to use them better. I'd recommend you not use them in your world, or you may need to re-create it. Just an FYI. Anyway, here is a video with it:

Thanks. So far, I've re-written all of Lights! code, shortening it significantly. Now I've just got to go to Geo's and then I'll have re-implemented everything. After I do that, I'll go in and make sure that I have everything as short as possible. I've gone and created a banner, so the next topic will looks significantly better.
Well, taking a break from cleaning up the code, and decided to work some more with Baubles. I must say, a very nice and very useful mod. Let's you have buffs, without taking up "inventory" space. But, me being me, I wanted something that fir with Lights, or the general idea of it. So far I've come up with 2 "buffs" if you will. 1, if you break a block (I am trying to figure out what type of block I want it to be) you will be healed for half of a heart. 2, if it is raining and you press "r" the rain will stop. The second definitely deals with Lights, but the first, I don't know... I need some thoughts. Plus, I feel like the first is a little OP, maybe even the second. How would you guys feel about an Amethyst Crystal Shard that would be consumed when either of those effects took place? Anyway, here is a video of the testing:

I haven't forgotten about this mod, I am just running into some serious walls with what I want to do, and that is slightly upsetting. So, I am going to take a small break from modding, and dive into program devving. (No this is not a "he's going away for a year and won't back back till 1.9!", I am just taking a small (probably a week or two) break.)
I hate to complain or add work to you, but when I click on the V1 link for MC 1.6.4, It takes me to DB and says nothing is here. I am running 1.6.4, and I want this mod, but it wont let me get it. Suggestions?
The 1.6.4 versions were seriously bugged, I don't even have them on my dropbox anymore, there were some game breaking bugs and such with them. Sorry to disappoint you man.
Cool mod, I like it, but I have one nitpick and two suggestions.
Nitpick: I'm glad for a use for Rotten Flesh finally, but it bothers me that rotten flesh directly yields a candle like that.
Suggestion One: Add a furnace recipe. Rotten Flesh in the furnace yields Tallow (fat can be cooked to yield tallow, which is one historic method of obtaining candle material). Two tallow and a string yields a candle. Another idea you could think about, if it could work (I know very little about programming) is to use Oil from mods like Buildcraft to create Paraffin. This obviously wouldn't be the core mechanic, but would be an interesting alternative to users of those mods.
Suggestion Two: Create a way to disable one of the parts of the mod, perhaps via Config file. I, for example, have little interest in the Geo aspect so far, but enjoy the Lights portion of the mod.
Whether you use these suggestions or not, I do enjoy the mod.

Should be interesting to see what I can churn out in that.

Lights, Geo, my secret mod, and the little progress I had on the new companion mod, were all deleted from my computer this morning, it was an accident, I thought I could get it back, but then the backups are broken as well... which means.... Back to square one. Oh well, I was re-designing it anyways... This will put off the updates for a 1.6 version and 1.7 version by a while. I'll keep the current downloads up, but because of the re-write, do note, that there might be a warning when you load the world up, I will do my best to minimize any errors though.
