Hi, Zeno410, I just wanted to thank you for continuing this fantastic mod and to announce that my 16x realistic resource pack Pixel Reality now finally supports Underground Biomes Constructs!
I think there may be a bug with the stairs of the mod. I would place any kind of stairs and if I change anything around them, they change to Gneiss Stairs. See the picture to understand what I'm talking about. I had placed Basalt Brick Stairs and placed a block and they changed "magically".
I've noticed this too, When I mine them they turn back into the correct stairs.

Forge for 1.7.10 has had some really weird bugs with meta data that were just corrected in the 1199 build. I noticed the stair thing happening until updating to that build and haven't seen it since.

Well I still have to use 164 so unless there is a version for that then I'll just have to not use stairs. Not a major thing but kinda annoying.

I see, I assumed you were using 1.7.10. I actually experienced the same thing in 1.6.4 myself. For me it was related to NEI. Turning off the tooltips that show up at the top of your screen displaying what block you're looking at seemed to stop it. Certain versions of WAILA seemed to also effect it.
... But, UB isn't really set up to make any stone "rare". You have to have at least 256 of any stone in any chunk that has them at all, because it replaces entire layers by chunk ... the smallest agglomeration of stone is about 8 million blocks.
... I'm not going to piddle with that system to put in something more like ore generation.
If you are looking for something more like "ore placement of rocks", you might want to look at geostrata. It was exactly because of that behavior that I decided against it for me.
(In regard to a mod that gives realistic animal genetics):
Would you really rather have bees that make diamonds and oil with magical genetic blocks?
... did I really ask that?
Regarding UBC stairs getting rendered as gneiss, what fix do you mean? Downgrading from the current Forge build to 1190 from last month? That isn't an option, since several mods require at least version 1199.
EDIT: Nevermind. I see that the first tip from this page solved it. I wasn't a fan of NEI's tooltips anyway, so it's a double win.

I'm using that version, actually, and unless I turn off NEI's tooltips, it's still broken. Unfortunately, there's another bug I cannot fix without removing UBC entirely. The recipe for stone buttons is missing if UBC is active.

Hmm. Thought I'd fixed that. I'll patch that.

Geographicraft (formerly Climate Control) - Control climate, ocean, and land sizes; stop chunk walls; put modded biomes into Default worlds, and more!
RTG plus - All the beautiful terrain of RTG, plus varied and beautiful trees and forests.
How do I get the crafting recipe back for the vanilla stone button ? Alot of mods require that button in there crafting recipes . So essentially this breaks a lot of crafting recipes . Also I am afraid of changing anything in the config because I don't want to ruin my world with a tone of missing blocks in the ground .

I believe we have to wait for Zeno's patch. You definitely don't want to remove UBC on an existing world. Since the majority of stone is replaced, you wind up with a massive void. Maybe someone could write an uninstaller, that scans your world file, and replaces all UBC stone, steps, ores, etc. with vanilla versions?
What version of Minecraft, Forge, and UBC are you using, Zeno? In the latest official Minecraft release (1.7.10), I cannot create stone buttons unless I remove UBC or disable buttons in its config file. I've tested this on clean installations on separate PC's with the same result.
Ironically, disabling buttons fixes the stone button *and* still lets you create UBC buttons. Bizarre.
I got the same result in 1.7.2 with 1147 and 1.7.10 with 1180 - I can make both UB buttons and standard stone buttons. I have buttons on. This is with just UBC, no other mods?

Yes. I just tried again. Clean install of MInecraft 1.7.10, installed Forge 1205, and UBC with no other mods. I cannot create stone buttons. I even tried the old Forge 1180, but got the same results. I can only assume that whatever version of UBC you're running, it is not the version available to the rest of us.
I'm not sure what is going on with the buttons, but for me they work perfectly. I only tested using forge 1207, but I can craft various stone button types using just forge and UBC and also in my other heavily modded instance of 1.7.10. I adjusted nothing in the configs.
I've noticed this too, When I mine them they turn back into the correct stairs.
Try the last fix on the previous page.

But, as you have seemed to fix it, don't bother.

replacecobblestone=false will turn it off.
