Hopefully. If I will be implementing configs, I'll most likely do it all in a batch lot, adding configs to 1.6.4, 1.7.4 and 1.7.10 (hey, perhaps by then we'll have Forge for 1.8 properly released, too!)
At the moment though, I have plenty enough work to keep up with, so I don't have as much time to update stuff.
Not sure if it's just me having this issue, but when people die, when they get their hearts back they get double the hearts. I have one friend who has 50 hearts because of this now. Anyone else having this issue?
Hmm... Good ideas, if (more likely when) I can get around to configs, I'll probably be adding these. Perhaps not the craftable crystals though, I feel like that could make it very overpowered within modpacks. I'll also be including a limit for extra hearts.
And as for your question, I have no idea whatsoever. If you'd like to test, please do.
Oh well. I found out that Heart Crystals can be found in slightly larger quantities at Ravines or nearby. Here's proof:
It's just a coincidence, heart crystals do not spawn more or less near any features of the world (diamonds don't spawn more often near lava lakes, either). However, since the crystals need air space to spawn at all, they can only spawn in caves anyway, and ravines make up a pretty decent amount of the caves in the world.
I know this mod has been all but dead for a while now, but I've finally updated it to 1.1. Crystals now look much better (IMO), generate more fairly and are in general implemented better. A configuration file has been added, so you can customise generation height, rarity, maximum hearts and the chances of keeping hearts on death.
Each heart has a chance to be kept when you die, otherwise it is dropped. With gamerule "keepInventory" enabled, hearts will always be kept (equal to setting chance to 1.0).
Also added in this version are heart lanterns and heart shards. Heart lanterns can be placed on the floor or on ceilings (they hang by chains on the ceiling). They provide light and will, over time, charge up so you can slowly siphon health from them.
If you have maximum hearts and find more, you can now craft heart shards, a food item which replenishes some of your health.
