I present to you: Oceania! Oceania is the product of TheMike and briman0094's ModJam 3 team. ModJam is a competition where modders and teams get together and have 96 hours to build a mod completely from scratch. ModJam 3 occurred from Friday, December 13th to Monday, December 16th 2013.
About the mod
Oceania is a mod developed by TheMike, briman0094 (a.k.a. Briman), TechMac, and jameslfc19 that adds more content for exploring and living in the oceans of Minecraftia. Among the content added are sunken villages, air bubble generators, submarines, and chest boats. Hopefully you will find oceans much more interesting and more worth exploring after installing our mod! You may even find yourself living in an underwater base!
Content added
Oceania adds a number of items into the game. First and foremost is underwater content. Included right now are Underwater Villages, which are comprised of glass bubbles containing chests, ocean-loving villagers, and Atlantium Depulsors (read ahead for more information):
Another big feature Oceania adds is an expansion to your marine transportation options.
Firstly, it adds two new types of boats: the Iron Boat and the Atlantium Boat:
Each of these boats is more durable than the wooden one, the Atlantium being the strongest. They will withstand unfortunate mishaps (see: collision with a plant) more forgivingly than a vanilla Wooden boat. They also move faster than the Wooden boat.
In addition to these boats, Oceania also adds Boats with Chests:
These share the same properties as the aforementioned boat upgrades as well as containing a chest slightly larger than those found in your house.
Last but not least in the transportation category, we present to you the submarine:
The submarine is the fastest, most versatile form of marine transportation. It is able to dive underwater while allowing the driver to still breathe (hopefully), and allows the driver to see more clearly underwater than if they were simply diving. Unfortunately, the engineers forgot to allow room for a chest while building the engine compartment and thus the submarine does not have a form of onboard storage. Those engineers were fired and the submarine is being redesigned with such features in mind.
The content does not end here, however. Oceania also adds a number of useful items and blocks to the game, such as the following.
Atlantium is a very strong but blunt form of metal derived from the Atlantite alloy. It is created by using immense pressure and heat to refine Atlantite down into its purest form. Atlantite can be found in the ocean floor, and looks something like this:
It and its refined counterpart can be used to craft a number of useful tools.
The Atlantium Depulsor is a machine that uses the power of Ender to create a pocket of air in a body of water. Place it down and put some ender pearls into it to activate it. It can hold up to 32 ender pearls and each one powers it for half a Minecraft day:
The Atlantite Trident is a very powerful weapon suited for the King of the Seas. It has a base melee damage of 9 - stronger than the mightiest Diamond Sword. It looks pretty sweet too.
The Atlantium Helmet is useful for those who wish to dive underwater but who aren't skilled in piloting a submarine. It will allow you to see very clearly underwater as well as breathe slightly longer than without the helmet. Unfortunately it does not protect against rogue squid attacks.
Download the recommended Minecraft Forge installer for Minecraft 1.6.4 from the Minecraft Forge releases page (the mod was built using #953)
Run the installer downloaded in the previous step so that Forge is installed into your Minecraft instance
Run the game once to generate the mods folder and make sure you installed Forge correctly
Download the mod binary from the link above and save the file to the mods folder, which can be found in the root of your Minecraft profile (it will be next to your saves folder and resourcepacks folder).
Run the game again to ensure the mod is installed properly. If it is, you will see it in the mods list, which can be accessed from the main menu. If the game crashes or the mod is not loaded, ensure you have followed all instructions carefully. If you still cannot get the mod working, post here or visit the IRC channel listed below.

Now this is a true mod!
It add something fairly useful, rather than a bunch of tools or armor, its simple, but so graceful. This should most definitely be in at least the top 5 for modjam 3

You could have told me you posted our mod...
Anyway, this was so much fun making it! I think I speak for everyone, all the ModJam modders, Briman, our textures, etc, that this was a absolute blast to participate in ModJam. I can't wait to do it again!
(Also, Briman, we have a licence. It's clearly marked LICENCE in the repo.)
EDIT: There are also a ton of great other ModJam mods worth checking out, just type 'ModJam3 site:www.minecraftforum.net' into Google (without the ').

"We knew the world would not be the same. A few people laughed, a few people cried. Most people were silent. I remembered the line from the Hindu scripture, the Bhagavad Gita; Vishnu is trying to persuade the Prince that he should do his duty and, to impress him, takes on his multi-armed form and says, 'Now I am become Death, the destroyer of worlds.' I suppose we all thought that, one way or another."
If the radiance of a thousand suns were to burst at once into the sky, that would be like the splendor of the mighty one.
Its so amazing to see the things people can make with such a limited amount of time and resources. I'm happy to see you had fun making your mod during ModJam.
Hey, sweet mod dude, only thing is the world doesn't have underwater villiages or that blue sand stuff anywhere, i look for like an hour, i got the new mc forge, downloaded the mod, and started a new world, the mod is on cause i got the stuff for it, i just can't seem to find anything that should spawn in the world naturally. did i do something wrong?

Nevermind the rubberbanding was only while loading new chunks, but stll needs to be fixed bit glitchy with that. Here is the showcase if you could feature it that would be great!

Thanks for the showcase! The boat glitchiness is due to vanilla's network code. The packets get delayed while chunks are loading. There's not a whole lot to be done about it. If vanilla boats moved that fast they'd do the same thing.

They're rare, but if the mod is loaded they'll be there. If you still can't find them after a while make sure the mod is loaded and post a pastebin of your ForgeModLoader-client-0.log file.

It is not implemented yet, but is a planned feature.
