Sort of like Far Cry I guess, it will encourage exploration and combat will be required - but who knows. My inspiration comes from every game I've ever liked I guess. Biggest inspirations are Don't Starve, Settlers franchise, Civilization franchise and Ancient Warfare 2. I'm still learning modding and also deciding what direction I want to go, but i do know that there will be character-based progression with "classes" and "skills" (like an RPG but not quite) but yeah... maybe animal skinning will be involved, but that sounds like it'd need a coremod and I'm not that good yet!
...anyway we're off topic, don't want to hijack. When I announce the mod in this subforum (probably within a couple weeks since I am terrible at modelling/graphics and they're important, but I want to stick to coding) then we can talk about it
I love playing with this mod. I just and an experience where a landslide trapped me in a cave under a desert and a barely got out alive(Still had a heat stroke though). But to the point, I can't seem to figure out what icon is my temperature and the outside temperature. Is the circle my temperature and the two dots outside temperature, or the other way around?

Your not alone. BLJSFOILADSJFLKFSJAKDSJ! Look behind you.(I have no idea how banners work so I am testing them out.)
What you're thinking is highly speculation as I've said very little about it; I'm not trying to copy anything enviromine does. Rather than "re-invent the wheel" (per se) my total conversion attempt is based on progression, the mechanics I'm working on are unrelated to Enviromine (a society-based progressive adventure with random events and player abilities that determine what the player can do - you can't do x until your tribe/character/society develops research or 'evolves' to do it). It's more like CivCraft (too crazy, no "survivial" and "adventure" aspect) or Better Than Wolves (outdated) or AgeCraft (too much talk, no action) than EnviroMine, but unlike all of those it's actually current and I want it to work with many existing mods - permission permitting from relevant authors of course (one of the reason why it's not announced - I'd like it to be taken seriously when it's actually significant).
A big claim I know, but I'm not here to self-plug - I haven't even announced the mod, I only started modding a few days ago and I'm just working on what interests me. All my mod does so far is prevent tree punching and mining, and in order to get wood you have to find randomly spawned "Brushwood" which is used to make a campfire and a stick shelter, and this starts a chain of events or "quests" that your character writes in your "journal" in order to learn and try more things to settle the land. Is EnviroMine trying to be this? If so, I would say you'd soon be wise to re-brand EnviroMine as a total conversion too.
I do expect some conflict from Ancient Warfare developers; they do a lot already of what similar function I want - at least when I get to that part of progression - but I want to work with them, not against them (if/when that time comes at least anyway). Apart from what I mentioned above I can't think of anything where my idea would "conflict" with Enviromine, but that the additional realism of EnviroMine - which I am not going to try and replicate - would compliment it.
I think the drama was unwarranted and based on misplaced assumption, I apologize for any infringement of creativity/concept that I may have implied. I like EnviroMine - I fit more into the "gamer" type of Minecraft player (as opposed to the "sandboxer") - and while both EnviroMine and my concept change/overhaul core mechanics, from what I've read of the current version (and remember from the earlier versions) there is literally zero overlap - I'd like to keep it that way.
EDIT: BTW, my mod is open source and will remain that way.
I personally don't see any problem with this. Mod away I say, look forward to what you end up making because it sounds really interesting.
I have an idea. sorry if this is kinda dumb but i heard about this physics thing called jbullet and i thought of this mod. is a link to a really old mod that had used this.
Me and TimbuckTato were discussing this and it kinda inspired us to do some interesting things with physics (hopefully it doesn't break everything) thanks for the suggestion.
I think you misunderstood. I meant foraging. Searching for roots, berries, flowers, insects and such for food without excess development of tactic of tools. I understand however, that you would like to keep minecraft "Medieval" as you put it but to me, Minecraft has never been Medieval. Minecraft has been isolated. Creating a need for someone to survive. These unspecified periods of time and technological capabilities create so many more planes of creativity to expand into-such as modernisation. Think of it, instead of an early man trying to survive, but of the journey of the sole survivor of a plane crash. Cordoned off from civilised society. But it is your mod and it is your choice
oh sorry man, yeah i did misunderstood i do apologize. I thought you where creating a mod similar to EnviroMine but i was wrong, sorry man. Sounds like a pretty cool mod, by the sounds of it you should look at the game "The Forest" its a lot of fun and it seems like you could take some inspiration from a game like that. Anyway man i do apologize but do keep us up to date, it sounds promising i look forward to it in the future.
I've just realised that the update notifications in EnviroMine have been broken for a while and no one was getting notified when I released new builds. I'm getting that fixed ASAP, expect a new build soon. It also contains a bit of prep work for The Big Update.
Note: The notifications, sort of do work but not in the way I intended them to.
Great mod guys! can't wait till 1.7 I have a teeny tiny suggestion... Change the colors of the GUI maybe? maybe it's just too neon for me XD hoping for the best! good luck
Just a heads up, I've just deleted a bunch of old versions of EnviroMine from 1.0.9 to 1.1.4. The reason for this is that they are no longer supported nor necessary to keep.
I've also noticed a lot of other sites providing outdated copies of EnviroMine. All the reviews on YouTube lately are of severely outdated copies and it saddens me because it's likely because they didn't get it from here. For those that download the mod from here, thank you.
Any chance we might get an ETA for the next update? :3
The only problem is every time we come up with a possible date, something happens that changes whether it be forward or backward, but once we get closer i'm sure we will have a release ETA and that Funwayguy will keep you apprised (he is lead coder).
New build released. Check the change log for full details. I however forgot to add to the change log that Fire Protection Enchants and Fire Proof Potions now help reduce heat, and sprinting actually heats you up and dehydrates you slightly faster.
NOTE: This is NOT The Big Update. This is merely prep work to make sure everything is set for when we do released it.
Harder Sleep- Player Can't sleep outside when raining
Respirator - A Helmet Item that let's you breathe clean air [and maybe underwater?]. uses leaves as fuel (or something Natural too)
The sanity Item - Something like the spinning top in Inception. helps determine what is real.
Pet companionship - helps increase Sanity! or reduces sanity at a drastically lower rate (cuz companionship)
Accompaniment - Same as pets but for villagers. maybe if the player sees villagers panic the sanity drops faster [this one's kinda sketchy. i just wanted to get it out there
I'd like to offer my services as a model designer (as if you'll ever need it)
If you need anything modelled, I'm your guy! (seriously... I doubt that you would be needing anything from me :P)
Also; Where can i get the changelog for the builds?[Edit] Found That.
I know that the builds are in the github link right? and this is still for 1.6.4? What is Life? What is this? What is that!?

Harder sleep - That actually sounds like an interesting idea. Might expand on that with other things like you can't sleep with armour because it's too uncomfy.
Respirator - Already planned and half complete.
Sanity Item - Well you could sort of do that with configs if you wanted to.
Pets - I keep forgetting to add these.
Accompaniment - This may not be a good idea especially when there is a zombie hoard around. Zombies + Panic would bring down your sanity too fast.
As for modelling help, TimbuckTato has us covered in that area pretty well. If he needs any help I'm sure he'll let you know.
Builds can be downloaded from drone.io same with the most recent change log. Yes we are still working on 1.6.4, I've mentioned why a couple of times. 1.7 is coming straight after The Big Update.
Excellent. Let me state again, my modpack would have been impossible without Enviromine. I've had to bend quite a few things to the breaking point, but it is finally working smoothly.
If you want to check it out, it is on the FTB launcher, pack code boom Or come by my forum thread and see how it develops. If you want to see it in action, has an excellent YouTube let's play going on.

lolwut? You might have to explain that one a bit.

We have some GUI changes planned in The Big Update anyway along with choice of look.
