Could we get a once over on the cold mechanics? They are incredibly weak at the moment, I made my world an exclusive ice world and never even dropped below 60% temp, even in hard mode. The only time I found cold to really begin to affect me as a virtually naked avatar in a winter wasteland is when I drowned my self in a froze river, and I drowned long before hypothermia kicked in...
Then of course I found a lava source block and was over heating from being within a few blocks of it as expected.
In my experience heat works perfectly for this mod, but cold mechanics are quite comically non-existent. The only purpose of me sharing this is in hopes that maybe cold mechanics will be revisited. So please, revisit them, and thanks for reading
Unfortunately forge 1180 disagrees with some other mods.
So i set back forge to a version that i know that worked with a previous version of enviromine. And got the same error.
The error suggest it is related to gui render code something what a server may not have , maybe with adding extra debug info some client side code slipped into the server part?
Putting back enviromine 1.3.36 on the server made the server start again. 1.3.39 also works, dont have any further inbetween versions.
Another quick question. What are the ways to stay warm in a cold environment? Does Leather Armor help?
Armor will help, especially when combined with direct sunlight. So will standing next to any heat-emititng block such as a lit furnace, lava, or torches.

I agree it needs rebalancing but to do so requires a fair bit of reprogramming and that's why we haven't really touched it lately. We'll likely sort this out when we've fixed all the major issues with release.

I've been trying to update my workspace to 1230 but the forge installer keeps messing up. When we can we'll update the forge version to work directly with 1230.
that's ok i just meant a block that looked good in a fire place that was not netherrack. I was happy when the added coal blocks to minecraft ,but mad it did not burn forever like netherrack did. When I saw you guys add the burning coal I was thinking you would just make a new texture and copy the code over, but as i have never modded minecraft I do not know what else would go into it other than that so it's fine.
ok after letting the server idle for about 15 minutes and loging in again i got a partial loaded world and next the connection was broken. Did not seem related to the server login error as i see no error yet. This time the server was still responsive to commands and next connect was succesfull again. Was not able to recreate it at next reconnects. I have to let it idle again with system.out pointing to a file to see if there was a stacktrace. I do suspect enviromine as without enviromine i did not get this behaviour. Or maybe this was a onetime hickup ... nope ;-)
... so after the server idles for x time with no players online and you connect again you get a partly loaded world and it locks up the server, i was lucky the first time or so ... unfortunately no error to be found to report.

Ok, that's weird... Huh. (Thanks for being so patient, BTW.)
@mvdhoning, can you check to see if this problem is present in previous builds? (Whatever backup one you had)
no need to check before i upgraded to java 8 (had java 7 first) on the server i had that problem also. The connection was not broken then on connection but did give packet to large error and the weird results after connecting again. With more people having the problems with the packet being to large i blamed this behaviour also on that. With the connection succeeding now and give better performance on playing i believed it worked. Until i let the server idle again. So that was v1.3.36 . That was also the first enviromine on the server, before the server ran a 1.6.4 modpack.
Also let the server idle since last evening without enviromine mod enabled and no problems.

Where do you see that it's render related?

Probably not. Making that coal block isn't as easy as one would think especially considering it constantly gives off gas.

now i was able to reproduce the login error, so here it is:

Yeah, that's what I thought it was. I'll have a fix out soon.

also it feels more stable at first impressions
now where did i put that world backup ...
Awesome! That fix won't hold forever, but it should make it much harder to get that error until I can get an actual fix out.

You dun broke the server again (/_-) Either something you did is killing the client-server connection or you're causing an infinite loop somewhere
I haven't touched the connections. The only thing I changed was making it so that irrelevant entries were left out of the packets.
