I guess altar is used to give energy to some sort of item. However to make it less overpowered, I think a simple delay of 5 seconds morph could do the trick (If you move it cancel the process). Energy is drained when you morph. I don't like the idea of turning into candy person if you kill another one. Players will not understand what happen and will be confused. However why not killing candy person mod, gather their soul to make a single use morph. I think turning blocks around to candy can be a little to much (Overpowered in some cases, and CPU intensive)
killing a candy person to turn into them for a short while sounds neat but un-needed. I think the delay to morph of about 5 seconds with a slight animation to hide your change would be totally fine. (like how it is in morph mod). The transmutation side of candy people was my original idea i wanted and I only suggested it now b/c I thought it could be game breaking. I am ok with this not happening
As for when you become a candy person, do you morph into the candied races and are human normally or are you a candy person at all times with a default form and morph into the other 9 forms? As for the turning things into candy if its added there should be a config option to turn it off if it was added or to set it to a controlled state (you have to use the turn power button) or an uncontrolled state (you just turn anything you touch that isn't candy already) that would be set in the mods config, not to mention you needed to break the block with your hand first in order to morph it in controlled version or wait as long standing on the block as it would have taken to break it with your hand to morph it.
I also had posted the use of a item and block whitelist/blacklist to specify what blocks are turnable/unturnable. A simple boolean in the config to tell the mod if the turnable block list should be used as a whitelist (you can only turn these blocks and items) or a blacklist (you can turn everything besides these blocks and items) was what i ment to prevent overpoweredness from this feature. Considering you'd only turn one block or item at a time it wouldn't be too CPU intensive, take world edit for example which transforms blocks by the hundreds if not thousands of blocks. Again I understand that you decided that this wasnt a good idea but i wanted to clear this up that this is how the balancing would work for this mechanic.
I've mainly been focusing on the multiplayer aspect of candy people b/c in single player being overpowered isn't as much of a concern b/c you can just edit your own configs whenever you want to and can run with whatever mods you want.Multiplayer was the main reason I wanted players to have to return to the candied altar to change morphs and they could just put the altar in their town or their base since they would be harvestable/craftable, but as you said earlier having to morph for 5 seconds without moving would inhibit switching morphs constantly to always have an advantage in combat. The main point of each candied race was they had unique advantages and disadvantages.
Valentin, do you use skype or google hangouts? I would love to talk to in person sometime.
I think turning into Candy person should not be a curse and people should be able to turn into human back again. As for blocks turning into candy it's actually a good idea. However using a white-list / black-list is a not so good idea. In fact, imagine you're a modpack creator and you have about 100 mods. If candycraft generate a white / black-list for each blocks, no one is going to replace all those values, it's a lot of work. It's a good idea but we need to think of another to prevent overpoweredness.
Ah, it makes much more sense now what you want out of this. You want it to be a all good and have almost no drawbacks instead of being litterally turned into candy and gaining new powers to replace what was lost.
From how the rest of the mod felt is and your original statement of "You want to have a journey to a peaceful and sweet country ? Too bad, if you want Candylands to be peaceful, you will have to be strong and defeat all those dangerous creatures. Explore many biomes, tame pets and dragons, fight monsters and bosses, trade with the gingerbreads villagers and travel throught massive dungeons." Becoming a candy person sounded better to be a great boon with some pretty amazing powers but also a curse to some degree as you became part of this realm. This is why I thought that the morphs were going between different candied specializations you could change into to better suit your style or situation and you had a default candy person form to revert to; that being the "cake" form. I still like the idea of being candy 24/7 as a drawback to your new powers and be able to cure yourself later using a potion, special item, or the candied altar... but being able to turn back to human sounds like a neat idea too if you can work it out right
One of my friends suggested making the Cake person or "Sugarling" be a support/buff/debuff/healer character if they were a proper morph instead of being the default form you return to as a candy person.
As for the blacklist/whitelist idea its the standard way most modders do things. Take a look at archemedes ships or mr crayfish's furnature as they both do blacklist/whitelists that the modpack designer or player needs to manually update to add room for more things other than whats brought forth in vanilla, their mod, and any supported mods. If you wanted it to auto-fill the blacklist/whitelist, thats a looooottt of coding work and way more trouble than its worth. Also a blacklist/whitelist is better from a server standpoint as admins love it when mods come with permission nodes or controls such as a black/white list. , It does unfortunately mean that people do need to configure the list manually to work with other mods and if you have over a hundred of them then it is a lot of work but this is the standard way of doing things.
I also wasn't suggesting having both a blacklist and a whitelist, but rather you change a boolean in the config if you would rather have the list be a blacklist or a whilelist and by default have it be a blacklist with your standard normally blocked from changing blocks as examples, such as bedrock.
TheLordofNyrin:Candy People Idea:Golden Sugarpuff MAXED OUT Sugarpuff,Sugar Knight,Cookie King, and Licorice Lord powers. Use this if you want I don't care if you don't If you do,I don't need credits
TheCandyManone: you can become any of the 10 races by the means stated in the latest update outline i posted in the chat above. (its my last post). If you wanted to become lets say a sugarpuff maxed out, what i would do is choose to be a sugar buff, get PEZ armor, max enchant it, and use the Candy King tools of your choosing and change the config option for the tool strength to that of Diamond and set the damage for your sword to its max of 40.
I didnt suggest cross breeding b/c it would be incredibly dificult to code and could be OP if not properly balanced which again would make it hard to code. Mabye eventually that might be possible
a super mega candy person may eventually be possible, but because each one has their own unique set of powers, abilities, and defects and are designed to be balanced with each other, having a super candy person at this time may not be possible and would be downright broken and overpowered.
Mabye you can get some of their powers through enchants or potions as a human or buff your own candy person character with some of the other candy peoples abilities in this way as well, becoming your super almighty candy person you suggested I have yet to talk to Valentin about potions or enchants but he did bring that up with me.
I just remembered you said there will not be any kind of corruption
I was going to say maybe portals will start to appear out of nowhere and weird mobs from the overworld come to steal the world and use it as a monster world... but nevermind
I have an idea! What about an update completely dedicated to Gummy things? Say, a new dungeon, some new mobs, a new boss, new items, etc. As for the mobs, maybe a gummy bear, to go along with a gummy bunny, some gummy worms, and maybe a gummy shark as a new hostile water mob. As for the boss? Why not the Giga Gummy Bear? He could hop up high into the air, and come down, creating waves of jelly when he lands, the waves going out in multiple directions, damaging the player if they hit them.
I support this as well. Gummy bears + new boss of a mega gummy bear sounds awesome! little gummy worms crawling around through the dungeon and the gummy fish/shark sound cool too, though the water mobs should be fairly rare, if anyone has played with Dr Zhark's Mo Creatures you will know what i mean when i ask you to make hostile water mobs on the rarer side. I remember small pools filled with sharks too well xD. mabye if they were spawned based on depth it wouldnt be a bad idea. =)
More prototype candy skins to come soon, though it may be after Valentines Day when I post them, I'm fairly busy for the next week.
Next skins are the candy cane boy and chocolate <3

Good luck for your beta test

I finally had a run in with a carobee jockey while mining, so yeah, they do spawn, just infrequently
btw this mod has some really nice textures - I almost want to lick the screen haha.

Ok, Organized everything we thought of over the last few days into an outline. I wrote it in Wordpad so its not spellchecked. Sowwy <3

Valentin4311,are you changing the caramel block texture
I've changed it in last update
