I think the error you're getting is "Please select a non modded version."
What this means is your trying to mod a version that already has XRay installed.
Unfortunately you can not install XRay on top of XRay.
This is the reason you're getting this error.
Select 1.7.2 as your version to mod and it should work.

Alright, you'll have to bare with me, as I have no experience with Macs.
The XRayPatchLog.txt file should be located at: ~/Library/Application Support/minecraft
Try to locate it and post the contents of that file.

So if for some reason you only want fullbright, and not XRay, you can do that now.
Remember guys, this is a work in progress so if anyone has any bugs please report them ASAP so I can fix them
