I have a bug report for the update (1.7.4). When you press L it turns on X-Ray instead of toggling full bright. Also, once you activate the X-Ray, no ores show up, only water and lava.

Given that Orebfuscator or the one built into Spigot actually modify the world chunks before they're sent to you, it's not really possible to work around that.
As far as the new release from today, I'm still having issues where all entities disappear (signs, frames, torches) along with glowstone (odd) when using Fullbright. Will try a few things a bit later once I'm done with work. I'm not using the installer version, just adding it in via Magic Launcher. Removed my resource pack as well as Optifine, like prior, with the same result. Everything had been working fine until yesterday's update with no other changes on my end, but I'll wipe the profile this evening just to be sure.

Try using the auto installer to rule out Magic Launcher conflicting in any way.
If it turns out to be a conflict with Magic Launcher I'll see what I can do to make them more compatible.

u shuld add in-game a gui to whitelist blocks for xray, it could even be just a written book gui where the user types a list of blockids sepurated by semicolons. then the mod reloads itself from that list when the gui is closed.

Wiped my .minecraft folder (For sake of argument) and re-downloaded.
Installed mod via the installer (fresh download) so that the only 2 folders under .minecraft/versions are /1.7.4 and /1.7.4-XRay
Launched via normal Minecraft launcher (no Magic Launcher) and no Resource Pack. Chose 1.7.4-XRay as the "Use Version"
Without Fullbright:
With Fullbright (notice redstone torches disappear and the iron bars in the far background) - same for any entity item (normal blocks stay with exception of Glowstone which goes poof as well):
Is nobody else getting this? If not, suppose I could go so far as to backdate nvidia drivers, but I seriously doubt that's the issue if it'd been fine prior.
**Addendum** So I was playing with a few other settings - turned Smooth lighting off (was on Max) and when I go into fullbright, everything but water/lava disappears. And yes, that was from hitting L, not X. I pressed it several times to make sure I wasn't being a derp and hitting the wrong key.
I'm still unable to reproduce this on my machine.
And no one else has reported the same bug. So for now, I'm going to assume it's a problem on your end.
First, could you test this on a new temp world? Just trying to rule everything out.
Open up the Minecraft launcher and switch to the Development console.

Can you make it compatible with da optifine when its fully done
Shouldn't be any immediate reasons why it wouldn't work, I can run Optifine alongside X-Ray under 1.7.2 without issues. Imagine there shouldn't be any change with 1.7.4 once Optifine gets there.
