not true, transport rings working horizontally too. Horizontal function is fully canon, they working in any direction (they're used as elevator inside Ha'taks for transport to some rooms inside ship)
SG1, episode 5.08 "The Tomb"
Using this as an excuse to watch SG-1 btw lol
Edit: He is correct, Daniel says "It will take us to a nearby ziggurat" during the episode.

I'm pretty sure rings work on a 3-d axis when on a planet or in a structure (i.e a ship) but everything we've seen in terms of ship to other ship or ship to planet transport, it's vertical.
To keep it simple, it's fine to have it working on a 3-d axis in Minecraft though.

I agree with this. It will allow easier transport. However, it would end up taking the place of the Stargates unless the range was limited.

Welllllll.... Up to a point. Transport rings only connect a single pair of points, right? Whereas a stargate can connect to any other gate for which you have an address.

I think the transport ring than the stargate open time shorter ,it is applied to map transportation.

Hey Guys, i was wondering when you re-add power useage to the mod could you make it so that the power is able to interface with things like thermal dynamics and Galacticraft? so like a ZPM interfaces with a ZPM hub and that could power a Galacticraft teleport or a Galacticraft Solar panel could charge a DHD Crystal for example? i just think it would be a good addition. what do you think?
My recollection is that LanteaCraft is planned to use RF power, when power use is implemented. That should automatically make it compatible with Thermal Expansion. As for Galacticraft ... well, can Galacticraft use RF power? If so, well, there you go.
Honestly, it would be awful nice to see RF become the de-facto standard for Minecraft power, and everyone use it. One RF to rule them all and in the brilliant, steady light bind them.
will there be a way to find stargate address with out searching the world to find them. like in my world there are stargates already built that I have found. like you right click on an (item/block)- whetever you decide) and click on a button or smething that will give u a random stargate address and mybe if you put like a book in there it will record it for u so u don't lose it and

using the computercraft interface at http://www.computercraft.info/forums2/index.php?/topic/16656-lanteacraft-sgcraft-ccdhd-20-rc9q/ you can run the ccDialer and it is programmed to dial every address one at a time and when the wormhole connects the ccDialer automatically adds the address to your address book in the ccDHD.
I am not sure if it works with the new unstable(ish) LanteaCraft 2 but it works with the others.
I realize it take a long time for the dialer to go through all possible combinations but i believe it is very cannon to the show.

Actually, it's discoveryDialer, not ccDialer that searches for gates. discoveryDialer also doesn't automatically add the addresses it finds to your ccDHD address book - it's a stand alone program. But I did write an import program to import the addresses discoDialer finds into ccDHD's address book. discoveryDialer 2 works with the new LanteaCraft (LC2). Just wanted to clear that up.

Keep in mind that the new builds that Michiyo linked to are not upgrade-compatible with the old builds available on Curse. There is no upgrade path from one to the other - if you upgrade you will essentially be starting over with LanteaCraft - you'll need to replace your stargates, etc.
ok, thanks for the info, though another quick question, how do you get the transport rings to work, i placed one down and another right above it, then i used the transport ring activator and nothing happened, then i checked out the garage key and clicked it on the ring block and my game froze up.

Then I stand corrected.

I hope this helps.

That said, the new stargates work better and more reliably, and transport rings work now too.
excellent mod!
