Hey everyone! This is my first mod. It's a Railcraft addon that adds metal dusts and ore processing recipes to the Rock Crusher without having IC2 as a dependency, fixes and rebalances the recipes with IC2 and/or GregTech present, supports anything in the ore dictionary, and adds a variety of other useful recipes to the rock crusher and to regular crafting. Woot!
Processing Silver Ore (outputs silver and lead if available):Processing Cobalt Ore:Crafting Aluminum Brass Blend with three parts aluminum dust and one part copper dust:
Background:
So recently I've been giving Railcraft some more love because it rules, and I was motivated to set up a 1.6.4 instance centered on it. I left out a bunch of stuff like item teleportation and IC2 etc in order to make minecart systems the main focus, but HERE'S THE THING:I wanted to make my ore processing system all Railcraft, but I didn't see the Rock Crusher ore recipes in NEI. Turns out this is not only because there are no metal dusts present without IC2 for the Rock Crusher to make, but also because the ore recipes in Railcraft are only added when IC2 is installed. So yesterday I set off to make a mod to fix this problem for myself (ore processing with Rock Crushers and no IC2) with a little help from Vswe, and today my mod is playable and stuff!
Mod Features:
Scans ore dict for mod ingots, then grabs ores and makes Rock Crusher recipes accordingly. Certain cases like having lead ingots and silver ore but no lead ore (such as with Factorization installed) make the mod produce different recipes for the ores. Standard outputs are 2x dust of input ore, a 10% chance of a bonus of that same type, and a 2.5% chance of another bonus dust of another type (TE style). Tinker's construct ores are straight 2x so as to not nerf the smeltery. (uses my dusts)
Adds processing recipes for all ore dictionary registered ores that have dusts and/or gems but aren't covered by the set of dusts that I created. (uses dusts/gems from the mod that adds the ore)
Adds crafting and smelting recipes for "Bronze Blend" (if there's no IC2), "Aluminum Brass Blend", and "Cobalt-Ardite Blend" from their dust components.
Adds other misc Rock Crusher recipes similar to those found with GregTech (wool to string, silk touched ore processing, etc)
Works and adjusts recipes even with IC2 and/or GregTech installed with no conflicts!
Feedback is appreciated - I'm pretty new to both Java and modding. Thanks!

Changelog:
Version 0.0.6d:
More GregTech/TiC cross-compatibility fixes. *Sigh*
Version 0.0.6c:
Moved TiC recipes so they always register regardless of GregTech's presence.
Version 0.0.6b:
AE crash bug fix? (couldn't reproduce it, let me know on this one)
Moved aluminum to be independent of TiC installation
Version 0.0.6a:
Fixed crash/shifted support to latest version of Tinker's Construct (1.5.1)
Coal Dust!
Version 0.0.6:
Added config option (off by default) to output IC2 crushed ores instead of dusts.
Fix: blast furnace steel recipes that produce nuggets or blocks will now also be removed if removeBlastFurnaceSteel is true in config. (derp )
Version 0.0.5:
Added support for Applied Energistics Certus Quartz.
Changed default config to enable NetherOres Recipes.
Changed where Biomes O' Plenty ores are registered to better facilitate compatibility.
Added config option (off by default) to remove Railcraft blast furnace recipes for steel. This is for use in situations where other mods (like GregTech) add steel production in their own tech trees, and the ability to produce steel in the Railcraft blast furnace is not desired for balance or other reasons.
Version 0.0.4:
Mod now registers Biomes O' Plenty's ores with the ore dict, if needed.
NetherOres Support! (configurable! off by default.)
Added crazy catch-all method to support any and all ore dict ores that have dusts or gems added by their respective mods. (<3!)
Version 0.0.3:
Added code to remove and override IC2 rock crusher recipes as well as its bronze dust recipe. Full compatibility with IC2 should be had now!
Added blast furnace config options for cobalt and ardite.
"Chagelog" section of this forum post retitled "Changelog".
Version 0.0.2a:
Fixed server crash bug
Version 0.0.2:
Cobalt-Ardite Blend must now be put in a Blast Furnace to produce Manyullyn (configurable)
Output of Bronze Dust recipe (only added if IC2 is not present for now) is configurable. Default is 4 dusts.
Version 0.0.1:
Mod is released! Adds metal dusts and more Rock Crusher recipes to Railcraft!
Please make quantity preservation a configurable option.
By this I mean, 1+1=2. i.e. in Gregtech (and tinkers) 4 ingots in = 2 ingots out (for recipes like bronze). Thermal Expansion and Forestry have/had a 4 in = 4 out rule. i.e. 3 copper + 1 tin = 4 bronze.
I love having the 2 ingots per ore block from IC2 (with a macerator), but that's almost the only thing I use from IC2. Having it with just RailCraft is very nice.
Definitely downloading. Thank you for this!

The source of my intention isn't really crime prevention; my intention is prevention of the lie! Yeah, welcome to the Scatman's world!

I'll do a check for Forestry and make the bronze recipe crank out 4 instead of 2 in that case.
In the case of Gregtech, my bronze dust recipe only actually loads when there's no IC2 installed (as with IC2 my dusts are automatically integrated with their recipe due to the ore dict), so with Gregtech it's all just up to what you've configured on that end.
Released version 0.0.2! Cobalt-Ardite Blend can now be configured to require cooking in a Blast Furnace (defaults to true). Output of bronze dust recipe is now configurable (still only works with no IC2 - working on it, defaults to 4).
Looks like it is working thus far. I will test more.
Thankyou for making this mod. It allows for ore processing without having to add a second energy type to our server. I have actually been looking for something like this since TE hasn't updated. Trying for a "steampunk" type feel to my server, so doing our best to stay away from mods that don't run on buildcraft power.
Also, I just uploaded version 0.0.3. Conflicting IC2 recipes will now be overrode if IC2 is installed - yay! Blast furnace config options for cobalt and ardite have been added as well.
Please make quantity preservation a configurable option.

Actually, Bronze with TCon (via smeltery) is a default of 4 in -> 3 Out (so 3 Tin and a block of Copper for a block of Bronze, or block of Tin and 3 blocks of Copper for 3 blocks of Bronze).

Its all over the chart. and aggravates my ocd - three plus one equals four. Not three. Not two. Where does the excess material go? Is it spilled?

With Minecraft Logic, 4 (3+1) ingots in equals 4 ingots out (that's how I prefer it) even with ore processing for 2x+ ingots-per ore, but mDyio's use of 4 in to 3 out is based upon the RL masses of Tin, Copper & Bronze. Basically in TCon the heavier Tin melds into the lighter Copper to give the Bronze that's closer to Tin's original mass than Copper's. All I can tells is GregTechs "balance" (NERF!) is based on the stupid method of 3 Copper Dust + 1 Tin Dust = 2 Bronze Dust from older versions of IC2 (like from the time when Feed The Beast was a modpack centered around a map). Though back then when EE2 & EMC were still a thing, the IC2 Bronze was worth twice the Forestry Bronze on a per-Ingot value (IC2 bronze = 255 EMC, Forestry Bronze = 128 EMC).
The TCon method kinda makes sense, but it triggers my semi-OCD of 4 Ores in to 8 Ingots out (3 Copper Ore + 1 Tin Ore = 6 Copper Ingots + 2 Tin Ingots = 8 (Forestry) Bronze) once you get at least 2x ingots of ore processing. I mean you get 4 Iron Ore, crush that and cook up 8 Iron Ingots, yeah?
Then why does this ~ONE~ metal that's otherwise a pain in the **** to get (and is needed for basically EVERYTHING from Forestry) somehow exempt from following that 4-ore-for-8-ingots rule to make ANYTHING less?
Anyways, enough ranting on from me about that (I hope).
An "Ore" block is a cubic meter of material, whereas an ingot is more like 1liter in volume. (1000 cubic cm).
So I don't mind the Ore -> 2 dust -> 2 ingots ratio.
While the density might reflect the truth, when mixing copper and tin - do they actually dissolve into each other such that the output *volume* is not the sum of the input volumes? Because an ingot is a volume of material, not a specific mass.
Y'might wanna talk with mDyio a bit on that in regards to the mixing, but in TCon 1 (metal) Block = 1296mB (1296L/1.296KL), 1 Ingot = 144mB (144L), 1 Nugget (1/9th of an Ingot) is 16mB (16L). 1mB (milliBucket) being 1L is from the standard of 1 Block is a Cubic Metre/Metric Tonne, and 1m3/Tonne of water (optimally at sea-level and ~4*Cel) is 1 KiloLitre (or 1,000 L).
This is awesome! Thanks for adding this since we're all freaking out without TE. I haven't installed it just yet, so I don't know if this works, but does this support the amazing Nether Ores mod? (Power Crystals....same guy who created Minefactory Reloaded). We could use a way to bust up those nether ores!

I wasn't sure there'd be a need for adding nether ore recipes since you can just smelt them to get 2x regular ores, but I guess it couldn't hurt to add support...

Crash removed - 0.0.2a uploaded. I don't actually have a server to test on so let me know if all goes well!
This is a very neat and useful mod, Congrats on learning this modding, This accually turned out really splendent. If you ever need help with anything contact me, I have 3 years java experience and 1 year minecraft modding experience so am very familiar with all this coding

Thanks
Thankyou for making this mod. It allows for ore processing without having to add a second energy type to our server. I have actually been looking for something like this since TE hasn't updated. Trying for a "steampunk" type feel to my server, so doing our best to stay away from mods that don't run on buildcraft power.
It seems to me that yes it can!
Also, I just uploaded version 0.0.3. Conflicting IC2 recipes will now be overrode if IC2 is installed - yay! Blast furnace config options for cobalt and ardite have been added as well.
Actually, Bronze with TCon (via smeltery) is a default of 4 in -> 3 Out (so 3 Tin and a block of Copper for a block of Bronze, or block of Tin and 3 blocks of Copper for 3 blocks of Bronze).
Its all over the chart. and aggravates my ocd
So I don't mind the Ore -> 2 dust -> 2 ingots ratio.
While the density might reflect the truth, when mixing copper and tin - do they actually dissolve into each other such that the output *volume* is not the sum of the input volumes? Because an ingot is a volume of material, not a specific mass.
I wasn't sure there'd be a need for adding nether ore recipes since you can just smelt them to get 2x regular ores, but I guess it couldn't hurt to add support...
