There is a stipulation that though the code is available, I can't modifiy and redistribute it without Hippo's written permission. Which, I have sought, but just because I asked doesn't mean he will say yes.
Should Hippo have abandoned the modding scene, what then would you do? I mean, I understand respecting his wishes and all, but given that multiple mods rely upon that API, I'd rather not see his abandonment mean a death warrant to all the mods out there.
Does anybody here know about the invasion mod? It has been having trouble to update and the author has made it opensource so that people can help to update it.

I think the problem with minecraft is that DLC might not work unless they shut down the modding community (unless they can pull off what Bethesda does with it's games, but that's an entirely different sort of game). The problem is if they shutdown the modding community, Minecraft will die and that will be a lot of money to have wasted which is why I hope they will realize this. Honestly, if Microsoft ruins minecraft I think it will be through incompetance in being able to handle a indie title than by wrecking Mojang with the "corporate culture." Event still, we still all have access to 1.7.10 and 1.8 which seem fairly stable so modding could continue on those platforms. In the end I kind of agree with some of the above expressed opinions that we should wait and see before panicking about it. It could end up a good thing

I have a question relating to the bound sword spell. If I bound the spell to a sword like the sword of the zephyr from thaumcraft. Would the spell sword retain the abilities of the original sword?

That's not how the bound tools/weapons work. They create the tool or weapon out of nothing and use your mana to keep it around. It will however have all the extra components and modifiers that you add in to the spell. As an example if you make a bound sword with Chain and Lightning Damage it cast Chain Lightning on strike.

It's thinks like this that make me wish we had more mage-like weapons in minecraft. I'd love to have a staff that casts on strike. I mean, sure... a sword can do that fine, and I can fake it with other tools, but... well, it's the principle of it.

Honestly, I see this as a good thing. It means modding will probably hit a ceiling at 1.8 if Microsoft tries to mess with it in any way, and modders can focus on adding new content to their mods or take a vacation instead of the endless cycle of build, bugtest, update, rebuild using community crash logs, re-bugtest, re-update, and look, it's a new 1.8.1 that broke all the old code, better wait for forge to catch up and do it all over again ad infinitum.

Okay, enough of talking about Microsoft buying Mojang. I've heard enough, and I've seen enough stories. We don't know what will happen until the deal goes through, so until then, no more talking about this acquisition, pretend like this acquisition never existed, please. I'm just tired of seeing posts about this acquisition...
3) Mithion needs permission to release AM2 1.7.10 with Animation API 1.7.10.
Mithion has clearly already received permission to distribute Animation API with AM2 previously. Why is further permission required for each version?
Also, in the 1.6.4 version (haven't tested in 1.7.2 yet) when making a spell with the shapes Wall, Projectile, it just casts the wall at the caster's location. No projectile at all. Same thing happens if using Wall, Beam. Has this been fixed?
I also had an issue where using a Fire tome at 100% Water Affinity does absolutely nothing. Neither does using a None tome. It's on a server so it's stuck for now.

Animation API 1.7.10 hasn't been released yet. It's not a case of needing permission to release a new version, it's a case of it simply not being released yet.
From what I've heard, the 1.7.10 version including Animation API is ready, he just doesn't have permission to distribute it. Hippo just hasn't publicly released it in his thread yet.

When I place the Wall shape in the table, it tells me it has to be followed by a shape, as it's a Principum shape. Putting Projectile first won't let me complete the spell.

Yes. Yes it does.
You might have better luck asking IN the invasion mod thread... http://www.minecraftforum.net/forums/mapping-and-modding/minecraft-mods/1278438-1-6-2-forge-invasion-mod-v0-12-0-so-you-think

Do we have to use a herring to cut down trees?
