Somebody said you can dig a trench separating it from wherever - cons: it has to be down to bedrock. :/
So... if I'm understanding this right, then:
1. In order to gain aspect points, you have to research blocks and entities in the world with the Thaumometer.
2. You use up those aspect points in learning new things.
3. You cannot simply re-research the same block or entity.
4. But what happens if you use up all of your aspect points, and you have researched everything possible? Are you then stuck and unable to progress further? Or is there something I'm just not getting...

There should be a way to break up the research points into their primal parts.
I end up with plenty of combined research points (Eg, Potentia, slime, void, etc) but I always run out of primal research points.
Switched to a different minimap, did some testing with an world anchor for 1/2 day, silverwood sapling will spawn silver wood trees (no surprise) and they can generate pure nodes which with essentially convert the area into mythical forest (so instead of purple you get blue). Course not all saplings generate trees with nodes, and not entirely sure if the trees themselves are capable of stopping the taint. Anyways, silverwood wood does nothing to stop the taint despite it's "purifying properties", it will get corrupted and crumble into taint. Taint spread is pretty uniform, forms giant boxes. Haven't any other clue how to clean it up asides from sapling spam.
Good news though, it can be turned off in the config, also you can control the spread rate in the config as well so least there's that.
I'm getting the following errors during world gen. Any help would be appreciated.

A detailed walkthrough of the error, its code path and all known details is as follows:

Thaumcraft 4 is behaving strangely for me ... I'm using the Resonant Rise modpack ( http://www.atlaunche...s/ResonantRise/ ), which has the latest version (4.0.1b) installed.
Auro nodes don't generate at all, except inside Silverwood trees. I even tried setting the rarity to 1 in the config and used a different retro-gen key to force them to generate - no luck.
Also, all Thaumcraft plants disappear as soon as I get in click range of them. Tried this with both those fire plants in the desert and them quicksilver flowers around Silverwood trees. I can get near enough to scan them with a Thaumometer if I approach really carefully, but the second I get near enough to click on them they vanish.
Any idea what might be causing this?
Not sure about the nodes, but as for the plants it sounds like you have NEI's highlight tooltips on.

Due to my snarky and sarcastic personality I can easily be seen as a jerk. If I've offended you in any way it was likely unintended.
Ok, huge bug. Using the Equal Trade focus on infused stone turns them all into the same shard type regardless of what stone. I grabbed some Water and Air infused stone and all I had in my inventory was a bunch of Air Shards. I'm not sure if this would have been reversed had I harvested the Water shards first.

(6:50:00 AM) Simon-v: How do you live in a world where Everything's Trying To Kill You?
(6:50:23 AM) xander_morhaime: Briefly.
As far as I can tell, Biomes O' Plenty and Thaumcraft 4 don't get along when it comes to biomes. Because BOP requires you to make the world type specific to that mod, the Tainted Lands and the Magical forest (along with any other biomes I may not know about) don't show up in the world gen. As i said, this isn't a big deal as there are still nodes, amber, cinnabar, infused ore etc. But as far as i can tell there is no taint, and because there is no Magical Forest, there are no Silverwood trees.
I'm using the Biomes O' Plenty worldtype with 4.0.0 and I have seen both taint (haven't gotten close enough to be sure it's the biome) and the Eriee biome (assocated with totems and dark nodes). No silverwood though. I didn't know it was a new biome until checking here. I might just be unlucky but I've made trips of over 1000 blocks out from my base in different directions. I didn't do any config tweaking, just threw stuff together and had it apparently work; looking at the configs, it's not an ID conflict, and I don't know any reason why it wouldn't generate.

The Magical Forest biome of Thaumcraft won't generate in a BOP worldtype (at least not currently). Tainted and Eerie biomes are created from other biomes through aura nodes altering the area around it, whereas the Magical Forest is an actual biome that just spawns normally as any other.
There's a workaround for it, by changing one of the Biome IDs in BoP to match the ID of the Magical Forest, BoP will spawn the Magical Forest normally.
I already said that,but I didn't have any answer :

this happen each night in this biome when not peaceful,I think it's a taint mob that cause that crash
I suspect that, like me, you used ATLauncher to install TC4. Here's the relevant section of the config:
note that *within that section*, it has repeats. This strikes me as Very Bad (tm).
I suggest that you delete your entire config directory, grab the latest thaumcraft from http://adf.ly/1311628/thaumcraft-4 , and re-run. I don't know if you can keep running with the same world, but I'm certainly going to restart.

Yes, it is a known bug, on Chickenbones' side as it happens to other mod blocks that share the same block id.
I'm not sure what it was compiled against, but I've been using 916 for a while and it seems to be working fine for me thus far.
I'm using the Biomes O' Plenty worldtype with 4.0.0 and I have seen both taint (haven't gotten close enough to be sure it's the biome) and the Eriee biome (assocated with totems and dark nodes). Ok, I'm using 1.6.2. With forge v.871 and I'm able to load it with out any other mods. But when I add the other mods it crashes.
The Magical Forest biome of Thaumcraft won't generate in a BOP worldtype (at least not currently). Tainted and Eerie biomes are created from other biomes through aura nodes altering the area around it, whereas the Magical Forest is an actual biome that just spawns normally as any other.

Thanks: I suspected it might be something like that but couldn't be sure. Now which BoP biome to sacrifice....
