Wasn't 1.10 TC5? Pretty sure he's moved on. What reason is there to stay on 1.10?
Nah, 1.8 was TC5.
1.10 was TC6.
1.12 is TC6.1
Some 1.12 mods are still in the works, but are mostly finished for 1.10. (That's why I'm still in 1.10) 1.10 is just more stable, (I'm assuming) but by the time TC6.1 is finished, maybe less 1.12 mods will be unstable.

Which mods are you using that are still on 1.10? Just wondering what's out there that hasn't moved on, it's been over a year since 1.12 came out... well enough time for most major mods to have updated fully or have beta-ish versions on 1.12 (like TC and Mystcraft for example.) But you're probably using a ton of stuff I'm not so: what?
Then again a lot of packs are still on 1.7.10 so I'm not surprised...

Blood Magic is available for 1.12, but only alpha files are being released. I did just check curseforge, though, and some of the mods I'd been thinking about were stable, but also are being updated often. Which probably = bugs, but I can figure that out by reading the changelogs (which I won't do, I'm lazy).
I also don't want to move to 1.12 yet because my GPU can't handle it well, it seems.
Yep! Mycelium has a small amount of Vitium. Other than that, you seem to be out of luck.
What are people using for a good source of Praecantio? Making thaumium is much more painful these days!
Enchanted armor and tools like Juan said, or enchanted books you find randomly. Nether wart farms fed into an essentia smelter and the alkimia result fed into a centrifuge works too, and is functionally infinite. So if essentia can be stored in other mods' tanks (it's a fluid, right?), then set up enough tanks to store each and every type of essentia, and then pipe it into the right containers for infusions, or into other places for further processing or for crafting things. So awesome.

I just took the Minecraft Noob test! Check out what I scored. Think you can beat me?!

Essentia isn't a fluid, at least not in vanilla Thaumcraft.

English is not my first language, sorry if misspelled some words or wrote something strange.
Well, I'd love to see it become a fluid. If not in vanilla TC, then in an addon. Moar automation.
What are you trying to automate with essentia that you cant do with just TC? Smart use of the different essentia tubes and buffers should let to set up pretty much anything.
I'm wondering if the most recent BETA is stable/usable in a modpack? I dont want to have to progress with console commands or anything. Specifically I'm about to start playing FTB Revelations, and want to know if I should remove thaumccraft, as I want as close to a plug and play experience as I can get. Cant find any information on stability via google search, so figured I would ask here.

Enchanted stuff, and enchantment books. If you have Roguelike Dungeons, there is no shortage of these. Most mobs have enchanted equpment, which they drop often enough in a nearly-broken state.
This also gives you a lot of Metallum, which can be centrifuged for ordo.
First off, I truly love the new research system. But there's a clear bottleneck around needing Vitium.
Since there doesn't seem to be a mushroom biome nearby, and tainted biomes apparently aren't a thing any more, I guess I'll have to overload a crucible somewhere - for Science!
My question is, how far away from my base should I do this in order to be safe?
I try to stay 2 or 3 kilometers away from my base in any given direction. It’s not tough to contain the taint once it starts, so you may not even need that. When you kill the spawned taint seed, it stops spreading altogether. Alternatively you could drop into the nether and do it there, make a big dirt platform and pull a ton of tainted soil.

@Azanor, after TC for 1.12 is finished, will you be finishing 1.10 TC?
Although by the time 1.12 is finished, other mods might be finished too, so we'll see.

Is transmutation going to come back? I'd like to recycle some gold tools and armor, but the recently added vanilla recipe is absolutely pathetic.
I hope so. Seems like TC6 is still in heavy development.

My two primary sources for praecantio are enchanted armor and weapons/tools dropped by mobs, and to breakdown Alkimia obtained from nether wart.

I also use Salis Mundus when I want to quickly make some Thaumium.

Thaumcraft 5 worlds can be updated to Thaumcraft 6? in any way?

Aside from occasional crashes, it's quite stable, and no command trickery is needed to progress in b16 as far as I recall.
