So how many skulls and candles are needed to keep relatively things stable now?
Unless something has changed since TC4 (which is quite possible), 400 balanced infusion stabilisers (15 initial instability plus 25 ongoing) are needed to make infusion completely safe.
On the topic of getting Ordo, Nether bricks are a very easy source of it. You effectively turn each Netherack into 1 point of ordo.
Also, something to note, doing your essensia distilling in the Nether is a really solid choice. The rifts often spawn at lava level, and the seeds consequently die to the lava doing nothing.
Even if this isn't the case, Magma blocks ALSO damage the seeds, faster than they can transform them into tainted rock.
And if the worst comes to worst, and the Seed actually does survive? All that worthless Netherack... is turned into tainted rock, which when the seed dies, turns into porous stone. AKA ore central.
Okay, few thing. currently on b16 skiped14,15. I have rift from b13 and currently his size is around 10 block. The flux on meter dint go down 50,8. The events like wisp, sparkles, flux phase and taint seed occurring but flux dint drop and rift dint close.
I plant the silver trees. They replenish the aura but flux still dint dropping this number. I try kill all taint dogs and golem, remove rings and store glove, dint work. (dint remove thaum fortress armor.) (thats my 3. rift but alredy survive 3 or 4 seeds.)
I have my home near spawn and if spawn are not anchor (always loaded chunk) then dint leave you rift unprotected. I meet the taint uprising and after dealing the seed and uprising (no army of taint slimes.), that dropes regular slime balls.
Did anyone have similiar observation?

i haven't touched void jars in recent versions so idk if it actaully still exist, but voiding essentia is one of hte last things you want to do in the current versions, cause it all would offset into the aura as flux, like it used to, i never made a habit of voiding essentia for that reason, For ordo, chiseled stone is the way to go imo, the stone recipe is 2 stone brick slabs on stacked on each other in the crafting grid, for permutatio, what i found myself doing is melting droppers, it generates a good chunk of excess vis but since the change that makes thaumium 5 terra and 5 precantatio, its a great terra sink, something i do myself when im hitting my caps on essentia types is turn it into crystal form, and them push that into salis mundas, refeeding the system to make more thaumium, granted you dont need all that much thaumium anymore especially with some gear crafting shifts with golems, but its nice to have a little stockpile of it
Void jars have never created flux, thats their perk: a safe way to get rid of essentia surplus.

Did in study Fundamentals cards only apers when:
...You Discard the category on study?
Fundamentals can appear as an "Study fundamentals" cards, like "Calibrate" with Tinkering. Also, fundamentals progress is won with almost all the cards that affects multiple topics, like Rethink or Ponder.
Speaking of fundamentals. Weren't there additional research categories on the left side of the screen in TC5 and below, huddled with the crystal farming stuff?
For some reason I have none of those in TC6. What have I missed? My Fundamentals tab is stuck at <50%, I don't why.

I've been playing thaumcraft for a while now and I have to say that in tc6 new foci crafting system is realy cool. It gives a lot more possibilities than old one but those new foci are pretty weak in comparison to the old ones
Add power.
(especially shock and fire). In tc4/5 almost all foci were ideal mid-range weapons. They were reliable, fast shooting and with good damage deal.
Don't forget that all health pools were adjusted coming new combat mechanics.
I find new foci, properly crafted, a reliable close to mid range weapon. For long-range, the main problem is aim, not power.
Unfortunately in tc6 foci are not good enaugh to use them as reliable weapons. They deal not enaugh damage or are not reloading fast enaugh to keep your oponents away from you
Use a different foci. I've found cursed ground a good deterrent for many opponents.
Also they depend on vis from aura (which has its pros and cons) but what i realized was that if a fight was in one place it was very easy to deplete all vis from aura and be left without main weapon.
Well, what can I say? It's part of the challenge.
There is also one big downside for all new shock-based foci - you have to aim directly at your oponent while in tc4/5 it seeked targets. Do you also have simillar feelings?
I like having one of each personally, seeking ice and fire ones, curse you witches that will drink fire resistance pots if im not throwing fireballs fast enough

Once the eldritch stuff is available I want to create a bolt-ice-taint focus with full power and splitting somewhere in it.
THAT thing will be quite powerful. The advanced focus just has not got enough power for me. Neither did ice ._.
But taint at lv 5 packs a punch with split. 16 damage.

Plus, I have a heal focus and a break plan focus.
I only need one attack focus. I am more pacifistic

A really strong attack is to make a shotgun blaster focus.
The triple scatter ends up being 8 total projectiles, and with slow speed seeking projectiles, you can get all of them to home in on a single target. With Flux 4, you have 7 damage per projectile, ignoring armor. All 8 bolts hitting the same target is worth a whopping total of 56 damage per cast, although you are most likely to hit only 3-4 of them, which is still more than enough to 1 shot most of the time.
Increased divisions on Scatter doesn't increase total damage, but stacked Scatters do. Each scatter is worth 2x damage total effectively.
Notably this was made on beta 13, but as far as the patch notes go it should have only improved in effectiveness, with the Seeking modifier on Projectile being buffed to be more reliable.

That's amazing. I personally would use fire, as it would deal damage even after hitting the target, allowing for kills even if it doesn't drop em on the first shot. If the focus itself doesn't kill em, the afterburn will.

Beta 16 is definitely playable, but some people have issues with save-breaking crashes with the Infusion Stabilizer. Avoid using it and you should be fine there.
There are still many bugs with Golems that IMO make that part of the mod less enjoyable so far, I'm waiting for most of those to be fixed before engaging with them.
End-mod content isn't finished yet so if you're hoping to run through everything fairly quickly, I'd wait.

Beta 16 has the problem that there is no way to close a rift without cheating.
Not bad, but we can do better. Replace the Seeking Projectile with Spellbat. Now each cast produces a swarm of eight spellbats. First off, it's fire and forget - anything dealing with eight spellbats is far too busy to pay attention to you. Even better, once they kill their main target (and they will) they scatter over a wide area looking for things to kill. Once they find one, other bats will converge - it's an absolute massacre. In a cluttered environment, they frequently kill things you didn't even know were there! You just stroll around and pick up the xp and drops, summoning new bats every so often.
Only two downsides I can see - first off, they often knock mobs a long way back, making it hard to get to their drops. In the case of witches, they often knock them back out of sight! (It takes a LOT of bats to kill a witch, and you need to back them up against a wall.)
Second, if a bat can't find any hostiles, it will attack passives. Animal herds get thinned out really quick! Of course, this isn't a problem in the Nether or the Eldritch, or in a cave. Plus, healing bats will take out undead without hurting animals.
Bats, like other foci, don't seem to work against endermen. Anyone got ideas on that?
EDIT: So far, my spellbat focus is 30 degrees on each Scatter. I wonder... It might be worthwhile to crank that up, maybe even to 360.
EDIT: My latest focus summons 16 spellbats in a wide angle. This thing isn't so much a weapon as a bodyguard! When I hear mob noises, I just summon bats. Even if I don't know where the mob is, they do. And once they kill it, they go on to secure the whole area!
I haven't yet tried to make a Scatter spellbat self-healing focus, but I bet it will be better than any regeneration potion.

However, is there any way to make a focus do AoE damage?
Yes.

A really strong attack is to make a shotgun blaster focus.
Start - Scatter [30 degree arc, 2 projectiles] - Scatter [30 degree arc, 2 projectiles] - Scatter [30 degree arc, 2 projectiles] - Projectile [Seeking, speed 1]- (Damage mod. Personally used Flux rank 4).
