I'm also noticing things... disappearing. A couple bookcases vanish regularly and have to be replaced, VIS crystals disappear out of an Iron Chest (different mod) leaving only one where there was a stack, things of that nature. I'm using the "All the Mods" pack, so really have no idea who to direct something like this at...
What can I do to progress here, since I've already spent about an hour doing research and am now currently tossing the contents of my workshop on the ground to scan them with a thaumometer in the hopes of kick-starting something?
In case you were not already aware, you shouldn't need to do that. In Thaumcraft 6, when you scan a container, you also scan the contents of its inventory.
(I'm not sure this works with all third-party inventories though. However I can verify that it works with Iron Chests and with Router Reborn storage units.)
anyone else getting a progression glitch with basic thaumaturgy. it wants a fire focus with 4.4 damage but all i am getting is one with 5 damage. and its preventing me from progressing.
Ohhh, so THAT'S the problem...! It never occurred to me to check whether that progression required a fire focus with specific values ... just a fire focus. So THAT's why it won't accept mine. Good catch!
Meanwhile, I can't get infusion working. Got my infusion altar set up without any problems, but I cannot infuse the Cloudstepper ring. Crafted a mundane ring, put it on the center pedestal; one Aer shard on the pedestal at 12 o'clock; warded jar nearby with over 125 Aer (50 required for the infusion before discounts); tap the matrix with my casting tool, matrix starts spinning ... nothing happens. Nada. Not a sausage.
Anyone have any idea what I might be doing wrong? This EXACT same geometry worked fine in 1.7.10.
Is it possible to target a theory or are the results random?
Possible to some degree. It's helpful to have the block for the school you're trying to target near the research table (focal manipulator for foci, crucible for alchemy, etc), and you'll want to pick cards with the graphic showing for the school you're targeting.
You can't get cards for schools you don't have unlocked, to my understanding.

OK, so. Removed literally EVERY MOD except: RTG, Mineralogy, Thaumcraft 6, Baubles. Still cannot start infusion.
I just had a thought, Wouldn't it be cool if just when then infusion process finished, lightning struck the Infusion Matrice?
That would give of some major mad scientist vibes, which would be awesome. (Especially if the lightning could conduct through iron bars.)

It does help symbolize just how much power an infusion process contains, The might of a lightning strike binding all the energies together in a Finalizing clasp of thunder.

Only annoyance I forsee is the added fire, damage to entities (mostly item frames popping) and that it would be weird if the altar is underground/inside.
Maybe have it do no damage or cause fire. Like a special lightning entity.

I was inspired by Thaumic Horizon's Pocket planes, and decided to make my own Thaumcraft addon based around dimensional manipulation. Well, that and just other things I wanted to add. I'm also trying to add Alkimium; though I'll only keep it in if you're OK with it.
I'll also have to re-add nodes. And maybe wands, just for the heck of it. The easy part should (hopefully) be the functionality, with the hard part being customization.
Oh my god, that's awesome, and all the other stuff sounds equally fascinating. I have a feeling this is going to become a must-add mod for any future TC based packs I play
And I get to claim first. Currently in is my own Thaumonomicon tab and a thaumium golden-apple type item, that I only added to get my mod structure correct. Though my type of pixel-arting doesn't quite match up with Thaumcraft's, so don't expect good textures on release or anything.
Though I kinda need an Alkimium Nuggets texture.
I can do my best to help with both of those, as a matter of fact.
P.S. Unrelated note entirely; if you wear Goggles on your head armor and head bauble slots, the vis discounts stack to 10%. Assuming this also works with the Void robes hood equipped.
The research table seems to be for making the theories that are required to unlock regular research in the book, as far as I can tell.
