In regards to the MC versions. I am still developing TC 6 for MC 1.10.2. When it is ever done I will start working on updating it to whatever the latest/greatest version of MC is at that point. Yay. That should be fun.
its really hard not to get hyped about this.
i understand you have a lot on your plate, but its a pleasant surprise to hear youre still working on the mod when you find the time. i wasnt expecting to hear of new development for a year or two.
Dimensional Doors' Monoliths.
We have no clue why, but somehow they are behind... everything.
Is there an explanation of them? Or did the mod get discontinued before it could happen? Or aren't they explaining because it's more immersive to not know?
WaterPicker, Zixiken and I are the ones presumably "working" on the port. My suggestion for lore currently includes that the Monoliths are a race of beings that is very old and assumed immortal. In their own "Limbo" dimension they seem to spend their time looking at- and unravelling reality itself. My guess would be that they are trying to reconstruct the Fabric of Reality material, found in pocket puzzle dimensions, which would explain why Monoliths are often-times found watching those as well.
In long forgotten times, the Monoliths fought a "war" with the Endermen, or actually, they invaded the end in order to obtain more matter for their research and started unravelling blocks to complete nothingness. When the Endermen found out that they were being invaded, it was already too late. In a last desperate action, they threw all of their most precious belongings and blocks at the Monoliths in an attempt to stall their march long enough, for them (the Endermen) to summon the Ender Dragon, the only being fabled to be able to keep the Monoliths at bay. Even though the summoning ritual worked and the Endermen got to keep their foothold known as the Central Island, until today, it is still unclear why the mysterious and seemingly all-powerful Monoliths would be afraid of as mundane a being as the Ender Dragon.
Nowadays, the Endermen, to protect other realities from falling to the same fate as their own, spend their time trying to fill the bottomless pit that is the hunger of the Monoliths. They do this by "borrowing" blocks from other worlds and dropping them off in Limbo. They do not trust anyone else to mess with the Monoliths, so they will attack without mercy if they get spotted by any inhabitant of the dimension they are borrowing resources from.
The connection between the Outer Lands and the Monoliths is quite apparent as well. There's eyes* all over the place and outside of the dungeon complexes themselves, undoubtedly built there by Thaumaturgists much more powerful than you yourself, the whole dimension seems empty, like it was eaten by something. Perhaps these Thaumaturgists were driven to insanity by constant exposure to the deteriorated state of realism ever present in that area. Maybe they are the boss monsters and you are fighting your former colleagues.
Either way, it seems that the Monoliths have successfully manipulated reality in such a way before, that hitting a bookcase with a "wand" that is essentially a capped stick, turns the bookcase in a book of knowledge that automatically fills itself with the knowledge stored in your head. If I a correct, they did this to lure adventures out of their home world into the outer lands, in order to use the portals to travel to those dimensions themselves.
*The key identifying characteristics for the Monoliths.
Huh, maybe they look similar to the Galvanic mechamorphs from Ben 10, minus the shape-shifting, upgrading tech, etc.

The leader/boss/overmind is Leviathan, a huge crystalline structure at the center of existence, extending its tentacle into the streams of reality flowing around it. (Shamelessly borrowing from Hellraiser).

So did I get close to the Monoliths' appearance?

I just took the Minecraft Noob test! Check out what I scored. Think you can beat me?!

So they prevent them from destroying everything by destroying everything?

There was something in the Thaumcraft addon thaumic horizons about a creature called the leviathan. Sadly the creator stopped working on the mod not so long after that. You can find the research about the fossil block by /tc all, cause normally if i remember right, the research on it is hidden and unaccessible in survival.
Are you questioning the logic of the Endermen? Their kind is ancient. They have been around for a long time. They must have their reasons.
Maybe a world that isn't focussed down by the Monoliths can recover if its blocks disappear at a very slow rate?
No. They are still basically a large black box with a huge red eye in the middle always looking at the nearest player.
The player base kinda decided that they liked it to stay that way as well.
Atually due to them often clipping trough walls, they later changed it to invisible boxes with a red eye that can be seen trough walls that always looks at the nearest player. That was so creepy.
I haven't really been working on my coding stuff lately, because of college and things, but I basically just wanted say that I'm trying to add some Crimson Cult lore... and it takes you to some interesting places.
When I say "I'm trying," I mean, I am and have. Unfortunately, my ideas do not seem to align with the forum's...
I'm just so excited, I have to tell you guys...
Why does the Crimson Cult find the Eldritch Monoliths so valuable? Well, according to my theory, an Eldritch Monolith, even when it hasn't been turned into a portal, has a strong enough "bond" between dimensions so that it leaks out some of the environment of the Outer Lands. The "environment" that leaks through can be seen, like the sinister aura node and the darkened atmosphere around it. The Cult finds no interest in these things, but what they do notice, (at least by the Clerics) is the soft whispers that seem to come from the monolith.
Most Crimson knights do not hear anything, (because they are Knights, not Clerics) but the ones that stay close enough to the monolith for too long can begin to hear what the Clerics hear.
However, simply being within the presence of a monolith can unsettle weak minds. ("Weak" being not-warped.)
(My) speculation is that the Clerics are lost in a trance, listening to the "whispers" from the monolith. Maybe the whispers contain knowledge of things beyond our simple material world... the whispers could be a sort of twisted comfort that eases a Cleric who has lost his mind... it is unclear what they are actually listening to, if listening is what they're doing, after all. It's lots of speculation.
You'd like to get a closer look yourself, but there are far too many guards to take on... you think that they are not only guarding the monolith, but the entranced Clerics.
One particular motive, is... what are the Clerics listening to, that you cannot?
**this is definitely not the end or the final draft. There is a lot more. This specific part is the beginning to a new journey, research-wise.
I am just very excited to convey my ideas to the community... Please tell me what you think, but don't eat me alive!
So they prevent them from destroying everything by destroying everything?
I mean... once it's all destroyed, you no longer have to worry about anything being destroyed.
That's what they're going for, right? Seems sound to me.
All i know is that after almost 2 years a new Thaumcraft is coming out and i cant wait i started modding in 1.6.4 and Thaumcraft was my hook now all we need is Thaumic Energistics (or merged with TC seeing as Applied Energistics 2 is standard in just about every Modpack now) to be updated and i will be golden the Jars are cool but a waste of space in My Opinion (you dont have to agree just my thoughts)

Who knows? Maybe some dark whispers to an apprentice? A flash of insight? Magic is unpredictable.

I made a D flip-flop!
Maybe the endermen attack you if you look at them because they have PTSD from the monoliths constantly watching them?

*wants to play 1.10 mods*
*also wants to keep coding for 1.7.10*
Decisions...
*also just wants to pet cats*

Oops, that completely slipped my mind... all this talk about monoliths had confused me.
Thanks, I'm glad you like it!
Cats. Definitely cats.

I don’t mind to play beta version lol
Azanor, any teasers of new progress on 1.10.2 you can show us non-patreon users?

No, I'm afraid PTSD doesn't work like that... that's similar to social anxiety, but this isn't even the right forum for that, lol.
