fwiw i think the proposed change to Vis as a distinct, unified thing is very nice. i think the parallels between vis and essentia blurred them as distinct things. making Vis into Just Vis differentiates them better and i think it's good, aesthetically and design-wise
For use in creative mode for test purposes only: "Instant aura."
An item that can be 7 (or 2 with the recently proposed system) different types, that you can right click in a certain chunk and that will increase the aura of that type in that chunk.
An item that can do the opposite would also be handy of course.
That would indeed be very handy for adventure map makers
If I remember correctly, in TC4 and when playing in creative mode, the equal trade one focus and the portable hole could be used for free, and I believe that also was the case with Magia Naturalis' construction focus. If Azanor also would make all the foci needed for quick and easy (re)construction free in creative mode in TC5 too, I would be very happy
Suggestion: With the new vis mechanics, can we haz "Aura Comparator"? Research dependent on Magical Redstone. Creates a sensory device that outputs a value proportionate to the chunk's aura strength. Also, "Flux Comparator". Allows for general shutdowns of industry if the aura gets bottomed out.

Several pages back, someone suggested making the dioptra output a redstone signal depending on the strength of whatever vis/flux it's displaying.

Hey all, was wondering if Void Thaumaturge armor was better vs. Thaumium Fortress for straight battle...though I noticed the "armor meter" was higher with the Void Thaumaturge robes, and I became confused because usually the mod does not render obsolete it's equipment...
So if anyone knows, I'd appreciate it
The big bonus the thaumium fortress armor has over the void thaumaturge robes is that you're nearly fire-proof with the whole set on, and you also can customize the helmet with face plates. It's an apples and oranges kind of comparison. The void thaumaturge robes give you a huge vis discount which is great if you're bombing with foci a lot. They also don't need a repair enchant on them if you plan on keeping them for a long time.
If you're up in monsters' faces a lot beating on them with a sword, the thaumium fortress armor with a sipping fiend face plate might be a better bet. Void thaumaturge robes are better if you're casting. It depends on how you play, really.
You want a farm, you grab a hoe. You want a boat, you grab some wood. You want a fireplace, you grab A FLAMING HELL-BOULDER BECAUSE THAT'S HOW MINECRAFTERS ROLL!!!
But, that essentia is neither uncommon, nor particularly required.
Doesn't change the fact that it's still a mechanic that can be taken advantage of. Might not be useful to you or I but someone out there might want to make an essentia farm from a mob spawner or something.

The problem was inside the Brazilian Portuguese language file. Some outdated image links. I have fixed the Research page for that language and if we're lucky, Azanor will release it with the next Thaumcraft update.
Are you sure that the other Thaumonomicon pages are ok though?
The Portuguese Portuguese language file is still broken and so may still quite a lot of others. Probably a good reason for issuing a Github issue tomorrow. Unless I feel like checking all those files by myself.
EDIT: Looking at the enormous heap of changes to go through for each and every file, I do not feel comfortable doing all these by myself. I may help update the Dutch one. Any volunteers for the other languages?

I did some CraftTweaker scripts for Mystical Agriculture. They fill in a couple of small gaps in MA, and also let you make or duplicate not only vanilla plants, but the blocks, plants and wood from Quark and Biomes O'Plenty. Also spawn eggs for most vanilla mobs! The scripts are here on Github.
I'm having a hard time unlocking eldritch stuff, I got my warp to maximum by eating zombie brains but so far I haven't got any new unlocks, do I need to keep waiting for a random warp event to happen or is my thaumonomicon bugged?

You're doing all the right things. Have you read a crimson cult book yet? If so, you just have to wait, unfortunately. Oh, and be sure to keep doing warpy stuff. Zombie brains don't cause Hunger like rotten flesh anymore, so now I carry zombie brains instead of food. Keeps me topped up.

getting into the idea of light and vis. and where it comes from. will there be a new stages of a node?
like if you get vis from the air, then concentrate it. you end up with a pure essence? or would that be a node?
you could turn pure essenses into nodes.... idk it was just an idea.
also would lightning then charge the vis in the air? because it is light and energy. and what are the affects of the vis being charged?

Doesn't seem terribly useful - unless i've been terribly unlucky, you get neither armor, nor XP drops from mobs killed in liquid death.
It's primary purpose seems to be getting essentia from mobs. Although it'd be nice to get xp and rare drops from mobs too.
