Please, it's about exploration. Think yourself into the world and don't consult the internet whenever you are not sure about something.
It's not the kind of exploration I personally want or can do. No amount of thinking into world would give me an idea of gobbling on zombie brains and then waiting indefinitely.
Alright so, if someone could please tell me if this is normal..holding shift reveals the aspects of every item I ever pick up in my inventory? At the VERY start of the game, I already know everything? I don't remember that feature, and it sounds like it would damage my ability to research.
That is a new feature, scanning no longer gives you points for research and you now know everything aspect wise
I watched the Direwolf20 video |stone| mentioned, the grappling hook looks amazing. If anyones interested its near the end around 27 minutes. I wonder if that's in 5.0.4?
Mark position, please? This things is 30 minutes long. And it sems like a regular LP.
If this is really a Thaumcraft thing, why does he have it and we don't? I'm missing something here.
@Shirololl, if you read a few post before this, its says near the 27 minute mark. And yes dire has it. Also the forgecraft server is to test out beta builds of mods. It is probably very new.

Tis not publicly accessible, right?
...I'm just worried what actually pulls us there. If it's the wand/staff then we'd have to cling to it very hard in order to not fall off.
Yep, he is on forgecraft, a server that is pretty much hosted for mod testing and mod showcasing for mod developers, pack developers, texture artists and so on... and also for them to have fun/stream/record LP on bleeding edge mods and platforms. The hook, if it's there, it's legit. it's been like that since... i have no idea but a long time. Since i've been in modding, and probably a long time before that.
(Info regarding Forgecraft servers might not be 100% accurate :D)
edit: It's on-invite only
so if im hearing you right we might see the new golems on here (assuming they are in this experimental build)
I dunno, we seem to be pretty good at taking the eldritch epiphany (read: page of cthuvian brain-vomit) and spinning that off into several new functional inventions.
Heh, Well, When you read from the pages of cthuvian brain-vomit Don't you gain warp? By reading it your perspective of the world is widened, Allowing for the understanding necessary to utilize what you found. : )
Warp is an abstract representation of The Things Man Wasn't Meant To Know (or some variation of it at least) after all.

So warp-giving research is essentially similar to the knowledge hidden in Apocrypha (Hermaeus Mora's plane of Oblivion)? Nice.

I just took the Minecraft Noob test! Check out what I scored. Think you can beat me?!

Hermaeus Mora is heavily inspired by Cthulhu and Thaumcraft also has some lovecraftian elements to it was well. It's not surprising at all that they're similar.

Due to my snarky and sarcastic personality I can easily be seen as a jerk. If I've offended you in any way it was likely unintended.

I wouldn't say that. Lovecraft is about disempowerment and the unknown. Thaumcraft is about empowerment at a price and rather the mysterious than the unknown.

pretty much sums it up. its to note that a lot of modders play on forgecraft, and theyre often exchanging ideas, work together on some aspects of the mods and create cross mod compability and sometimes cross mod interaction.
for example xcompwiz, the author of mystcraft made an api called looking glass, that might also be used in the portal gun mod in the future, and get picked up by other mods.
azanor has been occationally on that server himself. most of the time if anything changes or gets added to a mod, it pops up on forgecraft first.
the video already showed the thaumcraft grappling hook, large texture changes to blood magic (way of time also talked about an overhaul of some of the systems), extra utilities 2, and they mentioned bigger changes to tinkers construct.
This is actually a very old feature, not a new one, in thaumcraft 3 you could view all the aspects with shift.
In Thaumcraft 4 you had to discover all the compound aspects and what each item was composed of. In TC5 you know what everything is made of and all of the aspects. Scanning has also changed so that it now unlocks research sections or bonus tidbits. Research has changed so that every note has its own pool of primal aspects instead of a collective pool of knowledge. Aspects have been simplified, some removed, and some renamed.
So I've noticed something that seems odd, and commenting on it elsewhere has someone suggesting it may be some kind of bug, and my throwing some searches at this thread hasn't given me any indication otherwise, is it intended for crafting void jars to give you warp? The research isn't flagged as forbidden knowledge, and the thaumonomicon doesn't mention anything about it, but I am very much getting warp each time I make one.

How come we learn about the hooks from an external source?
I made a D flip-flop!
what hooks?
Here's the video:
Edit: This video should start when they show the hook.

The taintlands special rain is awesome , and the particles very nice. New textures kind of steampunk look cool.
Also taint mecanic really cool, new taintlands seems something really fascinating.
I make modpacks in my free time, its fun.
