I only carry just a single silverwood wand. I almost never run out of vis unless I'm doing a lot of mining with the excavation focus. But then again I'm always walking around in my thaumaturge robes so I've got a higher vis discount. I've also got frugal III on all of my foci.

I agree with this. I've made ice and obsidian wands but never really use them due to the silverwood wand having the greater vis storage. The only use I see for a recharge wand core is if you have no nodes that contain a certain vis, so vis of that element could be difficult to come by. I had that problem with fire vis and went to go find a blaze to get some rods, but I encountered some nodes in the nether with plenty of fire vis. I just grabed those nodes and moved them into my base removing the need for a blaze rod wand core.
I'm curious, dose anyone (who has access to a silverwood wand core) use any of the recharge wand cores?
I do for my Entropy wands, for crafting purposes. On the island I live on on my server, I have a medium sized island that only has 3 really small entropy nodes, which results in really bad entropy gains over time. Like, I have about 200+ of every other aspect (I carry a few wands for storage sake of holding more), but entropy tends to run in the 60 range on my wand. Everything else I have in what is usually an abundance, but Entropy is always my achilles heel. To that end, I have two entropy wands I use for that. One I leave in the table, one I carry on me to store more aspects in.
I just found a particular node in a desert temple. It appears to have its own gravitational pull, and breaks blocks around itself. It pulled me in and dropped me into the loot pit which it itself opened up, killing me.
WTF Azanor? WTF?
Now after half an hour of searching to recover my stuff, just to add insult to injury I can't scan this special node. ;(

That sounds like a hungry node. Fun aren't they? They can be turned off in configs if you don't like them. They make great garbage cans.

Say hello to your first Hungry node. You will learn to dispise them. And give them a very wide berth.
Also, feel lucky you got thrown a far distance from it, otherwise it would have eaten all your items as well when you died.

This is a hungry node. Hungry nodes will pull in entities immediately and blocks given time in a short radius and consume the aspects of them and them to it's vis. Watch-out for the break block particles that fly towards it and be wary of odd holes you see in the landscape, because given time this node will break all the block in it's radius so it becomes harder to spot. I'm sure Azanor will be adding a way to safely deal with and possibility utilize hungry nodes eventually.
I wonder if the excavation focus can break these hungry nodes from a safe distance. Always worth trying if anyone comes across one they want to get rid of.

Episode 2 of todays Thaumic Adventures!! Soon after returning to my hut, for reasons unknown to me I decided I was going to throw half a stack of gravel and a stack of cobblestone into my crucible because I wanted to see the affects of flux in this version as the aspects degraded. So as it turns out.. .that wasn't a good plan. Several blocks worth of flux goo and about 1 minute resulted in this mother.
Notice that I'm almost dead after the rush to escape my house as this thing grew.
god why......

Its gotten worse...
I attempted to venture into the nexus of the issue; my alchemy room
Oh god the infestation....
Oh look, he has a friend!!
I also died in the alchemy room, leaving my stuff downstairs on the ground. How am I now going to combat these behemoths that I was unable to kill even with my full armor and weapons?
I actually had a bow in my inventory, but I wasn't prepared to combat the forces of hell this evening. I was expecting a nice afternoon of being poisoned by flux and my house filling up with flux gas in the name of science, so it wasn't on my hot bar. And I don't think it would help me much against these things anyway. There's so many.....
For the people who are running into Hungry nodes as a big problem, if you have Ars Magica, try using a Projectile Dig spell on it. Not sure on how it would interact, but I know Projectile Dig can break normal nodes instantly. It might be able to break the Hungry node before the projectile is destroyed, solving your node problem, and also probably giving you a mega-ton of ethereal essences.
Suggestion: Make some kind of "white matter bomb" for dealing with hungry nodes. This would be very late-game research, probably made by infusion-crafting TNT. It would be placed inside the hungry node's grab radius, and detonate when it came in contact with the node (if an armed WMB never did so, it would decay into lit TNT in a minute or so), and have an 80% chance of breaking the node, a 15% chance of making it a normal one with reduced brightness, and a 5% chance of making it normal without dimming it.

You want a farm, you grab a hoe. You want a boat, you grab some wood. You want a fireplace, you grab A FLAMING HELL-BOULDER BECAUSE THAT'S HOW MINECRAFTERS ROLL!!!
Hahahahahahahahahahahahahaaaaaa!!!!! Now that's really, really funny!
Next time you try an experiment like this, you might want to consider setting up a safe area so everything would be contained rather then in the middle of your home. It could have been worse, you could have caused taint to consume your home. Be happy that's not able to happen... yet.
And remember: practice safe thaumaturgy!

Would I be correct in assuming that the recipe for iron nuggets is a single iron bar in the crafting table? And if so, my failure to get such nuggets would indicate that I have somehow messed up my install?
I've been away from minecraft for around a year, and am coming back to a new minecraft launcher, a much higher version number, and very little personal memory of how everything is supposed to work. I installed forge, I put Thaumcraft into the mods folder, and yet I feel like I am playing native 1.2.5. I get no XP from mining, there is no evidence of horses or anything else other than the mundanely typical.
hi i got a crash on 1.6.2 if i scan and not move me mouse its fine but if i move the mouse and holding the scanning thingy minecraft crash :-( but on 1.6.4 its fine i can go crazy with it XD first i scan on 4.0.1a than i update it to 4.0.2a on 1.6.2 try on old map crash than new map still crash only if i holding on that scanning thingy and look around its will crash :-(

You say issue, I say feature...
I'm hoping for a "nuke it from orbit" option. I lost over 10 dark nodes worth of essences to one that I accidentally stumbled across in the wild.
