What could be really cool: hook up a mana bean farm to the dropper rig.

You want a farm, you grab a hoe. You want a boat, you grab some wood. You want a fireplace, you grab A FLAMING HELL-BOULDER BECAUSE THAT'S HOW MINECRAFTERS ROLL!!!
Ladies and Madmen! I now have a simple, but amazing build for you that only uses vanilla thaumcraft mechanics.
I present the hungry node reactor:
What it does, and how it works:
Alright, let me cover the basics first.
Most thaumaturge's know what hunger nodes do: They "Eat" blocks and entity's if there in range. What few know is that when they eat something, they gain a few of the aspects of what they eat. They also have a restriction on any block placed so they can't eat anything with high blast resistance.
Now then, how this works: Place anything in the chest that you want turned into vis. Then the EU pipes move anything in the chest to a vanilla dropper powered by a redstone timer. This drops it for the node to munch on.
So basically: If you drop cobble in the chest, you get terra (With compound focus) and perditio. It should work on anything you drop in.
So what can you do with this? Well, here we have a way to turn items into vis. You could hook it up to a mob farm, or break the node for a ton of wispy essence. Get creative with this people!
Note: be careful near the reactor, as the node will still try and suck you closer. It can't hurt you through a wall, but it can be hard to escape.
i always wondered if it was possible. didnt know, that blast resistant blocks can block off the effect of a node. thats really nice.
imo, this is how aura manipulation should work. right now it feels weird to transport any nodes in jars. i wish there was a system to contain hungry and tainted nodes in thaumcraft, and that you can use them to power your wands.
I have done further experimentation on hungry nodes. From my tests, it appears that the total aspect count it gains from eating will never clime above the highest natural aspect. So if it has 43 perdito naturally as the highest aspect, it can never have more then 43 of any aspect.

Question not the mad-mans ways, for you may begin to see logic in his actions, then find yourself mad as well.
You may call me The Madman, as there is no name that suits me better.
I happen to make modded survival maps, if your interested see my latest: The Asylum

What I actually did for now was I burned a stack of tainted goo, which gave me three jars of Vitium, then took one of the jars of Vitium and spun it down to Praecantatio and Perditio. But yes, I totally need to set up a netherwart farm.

How did you get a whole stack of tainted goo? I had a hard enough time getting the 11 or 12 I needed for ethereal blooms. But then again, I was trying to farm tentacles on a tainted biome in Twilight Forest, so maybe that had something to do with it...
For me the best source of any aspect period is beans, mass amounts of beans heh that'd make me a Flatulent Thaumaturge. (My mana bean farm is slightly excessive and as a result I have over 800 of every bean in my AE system)
Any plans to add the Fishing Rod enchants to Thaumcraft?
[Edit] Thaumium Fishing Rod? Maybe magical one via Infusion that double the fish you get?
=========
I remember back in the days of TC3 I once asked you Azanor about whether we'd get enchanted armor, like armor equivalents of the Hoe of Growth, etc and you said we would. Is that still planned?
Not quite a piece of armor of each element like the tools, but new armors are planned - I already added the runic armor. Assets and item id's for them has been in since the start of TC3 (maybe TC2?), but I finally got them done the way I want them.

I take it you've been a good little thaumaturge and kept your cauldron from overflowing.
If you don't... well, the good news is you won't want for tainted goo.
Calling it a good chance is pushing it, I've heard from a number of people trying to create a taint biome that's it's amazingly difficult. If you're worried about it, just plant an ethereal bloom nearby so any spawning taint biomes get purified.
Netherwart is wonderful for this. Praecantatio + Herba, and since the lamp of growth was introduced Herba is extremely useful.
No. Seriously. What are you growing? I can't use wheat, cotton, sugar cane, cactus, or whatever else fast enough to stop my chests overflowing. I suppose I could just switch to smaller plot sizes.

Yes! I'd kill for a use for all this arbor essence. I know it's obsessive, but I hate waste.
Geographicraft (formerly Climate Control) - Control climate, ocean, and land sizes; stop chunk walls; put modded biomes into Default worlds, and more!
RTG plus - All the beautiful terrain of RTG, plus varied and beautiful trees and forests.

What have fellow thaumaturges found to be the most cost-effective and efficient sources of Praecantatio?
other than netherwart?
Greatwood tree wood. Easily renewable; chopped down very fast with Axe of the Stream. However, prepare to be up to your nose hairs in Arbor essence!

Doesn't overflow have a decent chance of turning the surrounding area into Taint biome?
