Advanced Alchemy Golem. Tie them to an inventory, tell tell them an item to make, and they will use the inventory to create that item automatically from a crucible.
Automate Thaumium production, stockpile Nitor, etc.
I can see this happening if it was just one or two players golems but all our players golems are disappearing :/
we do have Ars Magica and but the area all the golems are in is well lit with in a large radius.. can hectates still spawn with in lit areas? and as i said in my other response all the golems are disappearing even the ones inside houses and stuff... we thought it was cause of server restarts...maybe the golems wasn't rendering when the world loaded but that wasn't it and we thought it was clear lagg so we disable clear lagg and they still disappear :/ i dont know what it is... and i was thinking maybe it was MCPC+ but others are having this problems with just regular forge
I've had golems disappear from safe caves that were safe with magnum torches stopping hostile spawns, no pits or holes to fall in, no lava, etc.
The only explanation I could find was, someone said that golems occasionally load up before the rest of the world, and fall into the void.
Hecates can travel vast distances. Your golems are NOT safe unless completely walled in. My golems now survive on a server because I have them underground, or have built them walled (With a roof) greenhouses to operate in. My entrances are (only) 2 blocks high and use arcane warded blocks for ease of player access.

that explains, why my golems started vanishing, after i installed ars magica. seems i have to wall in my farms.
All the golems on our server keep disappearing I've done some research of others having this problem...is there anything i need to be aware of to fix this?
When any of my golems die on my server, there is a message in the server log stating what killed them. Might be worth a look through the logs.
example from my logs:
2014-01-14 23:45:53 [INFO] [ForgeModLoader] [Thaumcraft] EntityGolemBase['Straw Golem'/93, l='Terra', x=91.95, y=58.00, z=1900.70] was killed by TabletFakePlayer['tile.ttinkerer:animationTablet.name'/537, l='Terra', x=90.50, y=59.60, z=1901.50](tile.ttinkerer:animationTablet.name at 90.5,59.6,1901.5) (player)
I believe water does block fibrous taint, but there are a couple of problems. One is that taint (As in the biome) can spread across water, and fibrous taint can spontaneously appear once it makes it across the water. The other is that is can spread underground, so all it needs is on missed cave system to slink under your moat.
Taint is a terrible, terrible thing.
I was not aware that fiber can spawn spontaneously as tainted land spreads.
Magic Farm is configured with taint spread turned off.
This actually surprised me -- I thought that tainted land would spread throughout the chunk it was found in, but would not spread outside said chunk. I'm now at the point of thinking that there are three different spread levels for tainted land -- spread freely, spread within a chunk (or by node), no spread except by tainted animals and possibly corrupted node ("Magic Farm" -- in particular, my last test world had an animal induced spread that is most likely made worse by a corrupted node in the spread zone.).
Yea, I forgot about cave systems. Other than to say that fiber won't spread outside of tainted lands, even when spreading underground, so walling off a tainted cave is an acceptable solution.
(In regard to a mod that gives realistic animal genetics):
Would you really rather have bees that make diamonds and oil with magical genetic blocks?
... did I really ask that?
bnod23: Check your logs -- apparently Thaumcraft logs the cause-of-death for golems.

I did some CraftTweaker scripts for Mystical Agriculture. They fill in a couple of small gaps in MA, and also let you make or duplicate not only vanilla plants, but the blocks, plants and wood from Quark and Biomes O'Plenty. Also spawn eggs for most vanilla mobs! The scripts are here on Github.
I had my step dad help me check the logs with his nifty tool he has to search through the logs we seen nothing in there that states golems have been killed by anything.... meaning they have to be falling through the world..but its weird cause they disappear even when there is no restart or anything..but could it be that they are falling through before the chunk gets loaded like if they leave there home and then come back? and if that is.. thats a big bug lol

Unless your stepdad has himself been poking into Minecraft stuff, that "nifty tool" sounds suspiciously like he was looking at the system logs. The Minecraft logs are files in the Minecraft game directory, text files with a .log extension. There will likely be several groups, as logs are produced separately by client and server, with Forge adding a few of its own. That's what you need to look through.

the tool reads the server.logs of the minecraft server... this is not my first rodeo been server hosting for 2 years now... the tool allows us to specifically pin point and search for things through out the server.logs and any logs we ask it too... there was nothing in the minecraft logs that stated golems were getting killed by anything. we looked the logs long and hard and narrowed it down to just things thaumcraft log to the server... still nothing...meaning it has to be that the golems are rendering before the chunks are loaded and falling into the void we have taken out all other possibility of hecates killing them or wisps or anything for of that cause we had golems within a enclosed lit area with magnum torches just like Brail did left the area came back an hour or so later and it was gone..and even that i dont know if it is the cause because some of my players have chunk loaders and their golems are still disappearing

Just logged in as admin to test the void thing. Dug a hole through the bedrock to void, spawned a golem and gave him a push! Interestingly enough, he fell in, then warped back! I don't think you can kill golems with the void, but if they are falling through the world as you suspect, maybe they warped to a deep cavern beneath where they were stationed.
As for checking the logs, the information is in the "ForgeModLoader-server-#.log". There will most likely be a few with different numbers, check them all. You don't need a tool, notepad or your favorite text editor will do. Just open the file in notepad and use the search function to look for the word "killed". To be sure you are doing this correctly, you can test by sacrificing a golem to your sword

bnod23: "Not your first rodeo", check. But if the golems were falling out of the world, that should be listed as the cause of death! It sounds like either you're looking at the wrong files, or the logging isn't happening for some reason. Try looking in there with the file manager to see if there are files the tool might be overlooking (perhaps gzipped?).

and we now just put out server logs on a rotation so we have been logging in the same log for the past 2 months so there is no server logs that got zipped but my players never told me that the golems havent disappeared since our last crash so they have been there for well over 5 or 6 days now so maybe the crash caused it IDK but for now they are there and being well...im sorry for all the trouble thanks for all that helped me <3
well on a good note i finally found them in the logs... bad thing is the logs get deleted every few days so i will have to write a script to back them up every day im sorry that was my bad... i will keep a look out on it once again thanks for all the help
On a more serious note, since I haven't posted this here yet, I got around with Succubism from the FTB forums and we made a guide website for Thaumcraft and all of it's addons. It's been around for a while but it's been going through some polish, let us know what you thing.
Nice job on the website to the both of you. Succubism's guides have been exacting and up-to-date, very helpful. The new website looks to be quite a handy guide for those in need of a little look up

I have been running a tree farm for a while with single species, simple to setup and all. Today i got the bright idea that i could use the order upgrade to farm multiple different trees in the same range of a single use golem (my planter). I can't seem to get it to use any of the other items except the first one, as long as he has access to that item. If i remove all those saplings he will plant the next one, and only the next one until he runs out of those as well. Is there a clever way to tell him to cycle through each? Or am i just doing something wrong...

Designate each spot with a different-colored mark, and each sapling slot with a matching color.

That is how its setup. But once he has finished the first item (top left) no matter what color it is (yellow) he will pick up that item from the chest again and stand idle with it in hand until one of those needs to be replanted. If that item still exists in the supply chest he will continue this forever. Only way he will move on to the next item (bottom left) is if the chest does not have any of the 1st when he checks it. Same with the 2nd to 3rd, and 3rd to 4th...
Golem is a flesh golem with use, order and fire upgrade (extra slots). Colors are yellow (top left), purple (bottom left), orange (top right), blue (bottom right). Set to use on block and the marks are on the ground. Maybe i need to mark them use on empty and mark them on saplings?
