I have a problem. Aura node which is inside the block (for example Silverwood log) can't see when I use Optifine.
TC4 is ver.4.0.5b, Optifine is for 1.6.4 C7 Ultra.
This has been brought up a few times in the past. Report this to optifine as I've been told it works fine without it. It's not Azanor's problem if another mod likes to graphically break things.
It's easy enough to tell if there is a node there or not anyway. Silverwood logs have the black spot and sinister nodes are always the top of the totem.

Due to my snarky and sarcastic personality I can easily be seen as a jerk. If I've offended you in any way it was likely unintended.
so this is a but and will test to see if my mod pack is doing this but I can't look at any thaumcraft plants. if i do the change or vanish

i think i may have had a fun idea for a couple of new items in the mod.
the first one would be a chestpiece, where you can insert a jar essentia. similar to the thaumostatic harness. but its basically just a piece of leather armor, where the jar is rendered on your back.
what can you do with it?
well, you can set up networks of two block high magic mirrors for player teleportation. they could be color coded similar to enderchests from ender storage, to link specific mirrors together.
every time you travel through the mirrors, it drains essentia iter from the jar on your back, depending on the distance you travel.
the same way, it could also work with the portal gun wand focus i already proposed. left and right clicking with it on a block, places different colord markers. the animation would look kindof similar to the golem markers. if you walk up to them, a portal would open similar to the ones from thaumcraft 2. and travelling through them would cost essentia iter, that is drawn form the jar on your back.
the chestpiece could also contain other jars to power foci on your wand for a longer duration. for example a jar of aer on your back could power a lightning focus, even if your wand has run out. and so on.

To continue an old idea, you could also have a backpack tank of ordo or something enable a fire focus to burn a path through Fibrous Taint and Tainted Soil.

You want a farm, you grab a hoe. You want a boat, you grab some wood. You want a fireplace, you grab A FLAMING HELL-BOULDER BECAUSE THAT'S HOW MINECRAFTERS ROLL!!!
afaik Hungry nodes honor the hardness of nearby blocks, and thus, won't eat blocks too hard to be destroyed by dynamite. E.g. Obsidian. Extra Utilities X-times compressed cobblestone. And Tinkers Constructs ores - which have extreme hardness to account for their mining level being greater than diamond.
Well, it is true that Obsidian is inedible, and I'm not surprised it's because of blast resistance since other mods' heavily blast resistant blocks are also inedible (for instance, Artifice glass), but I wasn't talking about Ardite and Cobalt. ALL Tinkers' Construct ores are inedible. For instance, its copper and aluminum ores. They definitely are not immune to TNT, but a hungry node will not eat them.
It's actually the block's Hardness level that determines if a Hungry Node can consume it. Anything with a Hardness greater than 5 can't be consumed. Obsidian's Hardness level is 50. Ender Chests are 22.5, so they're safe as well.
The only other blocks in Vanilla that can't be consumed are Nether Portal (the actual purple part), End Portal blocks as well as the starlight portal itself, Command Blocks, and Bedrock.
I'm unsure what the Hardness levels of Thaumcraft's blocks are, aside from assuming that Obsidian Totem blocks have a Hardness level of 50 like Obsidian blocks.

Oh, Hardness isn't blast resistance, it's what determines digging speed? Well, Arcane Stone can't be eaten either, on the subject of Thaumcraft blocks, but... those don't appear to take long to dig. They appear to take as long as Arcane Stone Bricks, which CAN be eaten. Maybe it's only above 5 by a tiny amount?

Since I can't understand what is the meaning of all of this, I wondered if someone could help me understand it or, at least, tell me if the problem comes from thaumcraft or something else.

That's likely. It could be set at just 6, and it would likely have little impact on the harvesting speed, but keep them from being consumed at the same time. The highest Hardness Level in Vanilla is 50 (Obsidian) and second highest is 22.5 (Ender Chest). After that, it's all the way down to 5 and below for everything else. The other blocks I mentioned - like Bedrock - have an "infinite" hardness, which is why they can't be harvested at all.

I wonder how this all relates the the wand of digging? That normally mines things about the speed you'd expect, but there are a few things that take unreasonably long to break. The one that springs to mind is coal ore, but obsidian totems also count. They take at least 15 seconds to break, much longer than obsidian, even though unlike normal obsidian, the totems can be mined with an iron pick.

That's a good question, actually. Maybe someone with a bit more knowledge on TC4's code can answer that.
Hia. First I'd like to mention that I absolutely love this mod. I've never played the other versions, only Thaumcraft 4. And we love it!
I have skimmed through all of the posts on here, but I haven't found the answer, so I am hoping someone could shed some light. I'm currently running Thaumcraft on a server, and was wondering if there was a way for me to reward our players with aspects via a /give command. I'm thinking there isn't a way, as I haven't seen any commands listed anywhere so far. Thank you in advance for answering, and again, I appreciate all the work you do on the mod.

Hello all, I have a question.
Recently I migrated my server to MCPC+. I know that not all mods support that server type, and if Thaumcraft is among them, I apologize. But the point is, it runs fine. Or ran fine, at first. Over several days, starting and stopping the server many times (it only runs when people are interested in playing), it was fine. But today, randomly, I got errors in the server log on startup.
Note that this is not a crash. The game continues to load and run fine. I just got this message:
2013-12-19 22:22:21 [INFO] Attempted to place a tile entity (thaumcraft.common.tiles.TileNode@2f7d3a1e) at 624,244,409 (AIR) where there was no entity tile!

Or more precisely, I got 8 of them, for 8 different chunks. And, when I then took my thaumometer and when to a location where I had bookmarked a node - there was no node there. Basically, the nodes disappeared. I reckon that the above error tells me that it failed to place the node in the world.
I am now looking for information. Has anyone else seen this/is this a known issue? If yes, has it happened on normal servers too, or is this a MCPC+ issue? What would cause such behavior, and is there anything I can do to avoid it?

Shift, rightclick it with a wand.
Be warned, this will blow away all the boiling essentia into the atmosphere, causing taint/taint slimes, etc.
More precisely, it will create flux goo that, left unattended, will create slimes.
Dumping a cauldron and then immediately cleaning up the resulting goo is the most efficient way to deal with excess aspects.

It may inspire me to write a book: "Everything I Know About Latin I Learned In Thaumcraft"
It'll only be about 50 pages long.

Since I can't understand what is the meaning of all of this, I wondered if someone could help me understand it or, at least, tell me if the problem comes from thaumcraft or something else.
yet, heavy is the burden of the wise ones, when no one understands a word of what they say.
So, I remember that we're all mad here, and it's ok..."

Or more precisely, I got 8 of them, for 8 different chunks. And, when I then took my thaumometer and when to a location where I had bookmarked a node - there was no node there. Basically, the nodes disappeared. I reckon that the above error tells me that it failed to place the node in the world.
I am now looking for information. Has anyone else seen this/is this a known issue? If yes, has it happened on normal servers too, or is this a MCPC+ issue? What would cause such behavior, and is there anything I can do to avoid it?
