Anyone knows if magical forest create flux? Have yet to do any serious magic, but all the magic forest have around 30 flux, and the surrounding areas up to 20.
I've been operating at my main base under the assumption that flux evaporates (spacing things out) and that there was at least some replacement for ethereal blooms, and I just needed to get the research, ya know?
This... is not good news. I may hold a funeral. Or seventeen.
I've encounter the rift once so far, cause of the fact that vitnium essentia was required to make pipes, idk if that has been changed or was earlier in the beta, and in the mostly controlled environment it didnt get too out of hand, it eventually dissipated, but not before turning into a taint seed and causing me to be spawn camped till i could kill it cause it was in the chunk my bed was in, wasn't very fun, i have yet to see what happens from a more extreme flux buildup yet, and im not exactly excited to find out

Yep, I'm at the same point as you. Can't build pipes without vitium, can't have vitirum without all sorts of wrongness.
I think I'll just contaminate some random island that never gets loaded and come back. It doesn't feel like a natural progression though, so I really hope we see a return of ethereal blooms (perhaps with a farming mechanism? I miss mana beans

Mycelium also has vitium, if you're lucky enough to find it.
Is the cauldron completely bugged or just certain recipes from it?
I completely decimated an area on my map trying to make Nitor.
And another area trying to make a blank lesser focus.
I don't want to keep ruining areas if it's all bugged at the moment. xD
Azanor does have the tendency to keep breaking his toys.
Means, it is entirely possible that something has made the crucible completely bugged.
But I have not heared of something like this yet. But I also know nothing about the newest beta. Are you using Beta 13?

Yes, I AM a Vampire. Nice of you to notice.
Why is that box so big? What do you mean I should stop breaking the fourth wall?

At this point in time a small rift has open up in the forest near my house, looks like i did end up hitting that flux overflow, if my theory is correct then letting flux manifest in its physical form will clear it up from the aura, whereas ill have to deal with its affects with my own hand, something akin to a forest fire, burn away the dead underbrush to promote new growth, if thats not the case im probably gonna have constant flux issues in which i am not looking forward too

It's still in beta, which means unpredictable behaviors and bugs are going to be frequent until he comes out with a "release". That's what "beta" means, it's a testing phase.
If that bothers you I'd suggest waiting until then.

I get it now--vitium = "defect" = whatever spreads (I suppose). Makes sense, onwards to silk touch pickaxeing...!
Better to break mycelium with a shovel, so silk touch shovel is best.

I just took the Minecraft Noob test! Check out what I scored. Think you can beat me?!

It's likely more because both things grows by "corrupting" their surroundings into something else, and "taint" the natural with more of itself. I mean grass spreads and you don't see grass blocks having vitium.
So its likely more that it has vitium because it overwrites whats there with itself. Essentially tainting it by doing so.
I was talking about the definition of the Latin word vitium, which can in one sense be "defect". Defect meaning "corruption" is open to interpretation for sure but I like it and don't find it that far-fetched.

Eh, the pickaxe enchanted with Efficiency 1 and Unbreaking 2 on top of Silk Touch... I'll save the extra diamond and levels instead

Anyone playing with Beta 13 have a little time to spare for some field study? Just take a dioptra and wander about the world a bit by various methods of differing speeds, plunking the dioptra down here and there and looking for swathes of chunks with no aura. (Not just low aura, zero aura.) Trying to reproduce/isolate a problem and determine how common it is, and gather data to figure out whether specific combinations of mods trigger it.
"Hey, I'ma make some metric ton of alumentum here, yeah, why not."
"Cool, gravel is useless and has what I need. Let's grab two whole stacks to throw in! Oh I'll just add this block of coal, too."
"Oh nevermind all that excess Terra. I got plenty of q......AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAGGGGGHHHHH"
*sound funeral march*
*threw in a stack of 64 blocks of coal*
*everything's purple now*

Check the Github, another guy has the exact same issue which I've been trying to reproduce unsuccessfully with my own setup. He's running many more mods than I am though so you might want to compare notes...
(unless that's you?

That is me. I figured I'd ask here to see if anyone else was running into the same problem.

Can I start playing with this version and be able to access the eldritch stuff later on?
Or more to the point: will there be terrain regen for the eldritch portals, or are these even already in?
I can verify eldritch portals are in the game as of B11. And they spawn the crimson guys. Haven't seen any obelisks yet.
"We live on a placid island of ignorance in the midst of black seas of infinity, and it was not meant that we should voyage far."
I just remembered another small mod from the times of Thaumcraft 4: it allowed you to place essentia tubes into forge microblocks.
Is there something like that for current Thaumcraft?
Mycelium also has vitium, if you're lucky enough to find it.
I'm having a blast with this mod.
But I do have a slightly annoying question.

It's just me or in the latest beta you can't craft the triple meat treat?
