So, um, is there a cheat sheet of things to scan in TC5?
Scanning for aspects seems a tad pointless as they are all present already in the research interface.
But there is scanning that unlocks research - which doesn't seem as elegant as it was in TC4 as, now that we don't care about research points, I'm not really in the habit of scanning things I chance upon.
More to the point - what exactly do I need to scan to get the crystal "growth" (cluster?) research? And hence the ability to harvest crystals with my wand? Oh! Its locked behind Infusion isn't it!
I made a post a while back with some of the things I discovered.

"We live on a placid island of ignorance in the midst of black seas of infinity, and it was not meant that we should voyage far."
I created the brass golem with a biothaumic mind, armor, dart gun, and climbing legs. When I click on my golem with a bell, he follows, but he doesn't help me attack or defend me. I have all of the golem research (that I can see) done and it says he would assist me. Did I do something wrong?
I've decided this must be a bug because from most everything I've read, they should almost work like wolves.
I usually avoid anything requiring Ordo until I can centrifuge it. Then its Wood->Buttons all the way.
Cooking cobble is going to generate flux by way of exhausting the Ignis in the aura - (I mean, it WILL be cooked in an Infernal Furnace), but processing buttons will generate flux now too...
Infernal Furnace is usually not worth the hassle. Vanilla furnace with three bellows can smelt more than a stack of cobble on one Alumentum.
I use Ordo to convert ore to native clusters, so I need a lot f it.
Nah, there were no other pedestals around other than the ones for the Infusion. Also, I ended up checking the github page for the reported bugs, and lo and behold, seems like it's a bug someone else also reported. Neither the Goggles nor the faceplates can be applied to the helm by Infusion Crafting for some reason.
I believe it's Revelations to the Outer Lands. Only annoyance is the fact that without that my Eldritch tab isn't 100% >.>
I'm guessing discovering that has to do with this:
Scanning it doesn't seem to do anything. This bugged?

They will only attack something if they have an aggression module and you attack first. The module can be added to any hands with the selector in the bottom left, or it is automatically added if they have claw hands.
I just finished converting my world to 5.1.3, and I seem to be having a couple of issues. I'm using Forge 11.15.0.1707. (I couldn't find a recommended 1.8.9 version...)
Prior to converting, I'd crafted a gold-banded primal staff and was about to start Opening the Eye; I'd tried the altar near my base, but it dumped me into the void and I had to restore my save.
Now in 5.1.3, that altar still dumps me into the void, but the other two Crimson Cult-banner altars I saved waypoints to are accepting the four eyes but not doing anything when I try to hit them with the staff. None of those three altars shows a visible node or mini-portal above the center stone (previously, it didn't appear to be a node, but there was a little swirly thing visible).
The lowest aspect in my staff is about 825, but it appears to be refusing to charge itself, no matter whether I hold it in my hand or the hotbar. I watched it both before and after researching Aura Preserver; none of the vis levels in my base are below 10%, and I wandered over a large area with it in the hotbar, so I don't think that's it. I haven't tried charging any other wands. I did notice it charging while the void was killing me during the portal that dumped me into the void, and the opening would have dropped the levels in the staff below half, so maybe its innate recharge was working but aura-pulling wasn't.
Am I just getting unlucky with altars for opening the eye? Are the crimson-bannered ones not supposed to work? (I don't like that they take my Eyes, if so...) Did previously-generated ones break from the conversion, and I need to wander somewhere and find new ones?
For those of you having problem playing TC (and quite a few other mods) in LAN games, it turns out it is a bug in forge. It has been fixed in Forge 11.15.0.1701.
Im trying to do a simple smelting setup with the golems and the infernal furnace but am hitting a wall. All i am trying to do is have a chest that is emptied by a golem then taken to another chest on top of the infernal furnace to be stored and smelted, after that I want the chest the furnace spits into to be emptied and the stuff taken back to a final chest sitting by the first chest. Im sure most of you see where im going with this, just simple input/output chests for auto smelting.
Now in TC 4 i could have 2 golems tasked with each setup and be done with it. But in TC 5 the way the golem ai works it will only deal with one chest setup, by that i mean take stuff from one chest and put it in another. If you have more that one setup it dosnt work. There are priorities but that doesnt help this problem that i see.
I feel we need to be able to create networks between the seals so that many empty/fill tasks can be done in the same area. So if you set a empty seal to network 2 or orange color, whatever, they will only store in chests with a network 2 store seal on them.
I have to say, I'm quite glad with how the Eldritch Dimension has turned out in Thaumcraft 5.
The Auto caster constantly bombarding you with those seeking vis shards was an interesting surprise that nearly overwhelmed me the first time. Eventually, I figured out how to deal with them. I really like how the ancient stone now is a bit patterened, really adds a nice touch to the place.
Also is it just me or does the place feel shorter and smaller than it did previously? Not that I mind of course. Also the area that seem to block out the light with air and holes was an interesting touch. Also new to the place was some lava pools and arcane spa which is nice to give yourself a break from warp. I might have to try and scoop some of that up later.
All in all, I have to say the Eldritch Dimension is even more fun and intriguing than it was before with all sorts of new tricks up it's sleeves. Well worth the warp to get here that's for sure.

You post a lot. I went back 10 pages of history and didn't see a list :/
As it is, I have researched and unlocked ALL the non warp visible researches, except for Arcane Elevator that claims it is missing some prior research.
The item grate also seems to be missing, so I'm not sure how to make sure golems don't fall into the Infernal Furnace.
Azanor posted this awhile back but you can attach hoppers to the "lava" block now in infernal furnaces, as they act as an inventory now i honesttly prefer to look of the item grate too, but itll do for now for me

Try scanning a feather, and/or regular or fire bat.
Here is a list of items I have scanned that could unlock additional research. Once again, your results my vary.
Use the latest version.

started minecraft today and all my research is gone?!?
rest is all normal. no items missing, no jars missing, no waypoints on map missing
just the research is back at start like I never researched anything...
TC5.1.3, Forge 11.15.0.1705
thankfully my daily backup was running not long ago. restored, all normal, still strange...

me and a few other players just noticed, there's no entry in the thaumonomicon for Infinity, is there?
The robes do not appear to be rendering in the latest (5.1.3) version of Thaumcraft? Is there a specific version of Forge they work with?
Oh wait - I'm using Optifine. I'll try without it.

Yes, a lot of golems things that were trivial in TC4 are needlessly complicated in TC5.
If we could link golems to seals and/or seals together it would let have good parts of both TC4 and TC5.
Is it still possible to turn normal shards into tainted shards in the Nether?
I've got three shards planted, but no matter how long I wait or how much flux I dump into the aura, they aren't changing.
EDIT: Nevermind. Turns out it was due to me trying to convert shards that didn't have any vis of their aspect in the aura.
My thoughts on the Eldritch Dimension...

What golem setup do you use for farming? Mine work perfectly with sugarcane, but have problems replanting other crops.
