I might just be a super idiot with computers and stuff...(i know...I am) but i have no clue how to install this mod. I have a mac and when i downloaded the mod i got the folder and i compressed everything in it and then placed that zip file in the mods folder with forge installed and it did not work. it kept crashing... Please help, Im a super noob but want to learn!
Edit1: ok i found out that i am even more of a noob. I was using an outdated forge, but now when i try to download a newer forge it wont launch. Any help?
Welp, research doesnt update in the Thaumomnomnomicon when in the Bibliocraft desk, you have to remove it and open it by hand in order for it to update. Just in case anyone else tries it

What research is that? It's possible there's another aspect (or more) that you haven't used yet that would give you enough runes to solve it. If it's only got those two aspects, it appears unsolvable which means you'll have to make a new research note.

That still wouldn't solve it. There's two inactive nodes, and not enough runes currently to reach them both.

Alright, as I'm progressing though the research I managed to make myself the Shovel of the Earthmover. When I attempt to place a 3x3 of anything, anywhere (with the necessary materials in the inv), it doesn't do what it's suppose to. Although, I've noticed that if I right-click an edge of a block, it places some around it. It's kind of difficult to work with. Not sure if it's a bug or not or it's suppose to function like that.
Neither. That's intended design.
You may have misunderstood me. Scanning objects in the wild do have a chance to produce Research Notes, this I'm aware of. I was more talking about something like this
Is there any current workaround to the crash regarding thaumometers and portals? It doesn't just happen when you 'scan' a portal, apparently it also happens if you happen to have the thaumometer equipped while facing the portal.
Was scanning items in the same room as my nether portal, turned around to open a chest without thinking with thaumometer still equipped and even though I wasn't actively scanning anything at that moment (it was just in my hands) the portal just swung across view and now cannot log back into world... own carelessness I guess, an unfortunate accident, but irritating all the same...:-/
Realise might have to wait until that particular bug is squashed before I can get back into my world, but thought I'd ask all the same just in case anyone knew a workaround...
It's been stated quite a few times in this thread, including the previous page.
Spam one of your hotkeys (that isn't holding the Thaumometer) as you start loading the game and you should switch items before it finishes loading and be able to get back in.
Hey guys, i have a problem with researching.
I started researching with a research note i got from knowledge fragments.
(something for golems)
After that the only researches i got were the other golem things like hats, bowties and so on..
Now i got all of them and i can't get another research.
I tried 50 aspects, but noone gave me a research note.
Shouldnt ignis give me nitor research or something?
I have full Scribing Tools and Paper in the research table, but nothing works.
Any ideas?
From what im reading here, you have only done the lost knowledge research that you gained from lost knowledge fragments.
To do the normal research you need normal paper in the research table then use one of the aspects. If you have research with that aspect it till turn one of the normal sheets of paper into a research note.

They said they were using paper and scribing tools in the research table. This is something that's happened to me before, and sometimes you just won't get normal research, for whatever reason. I've procced Lost Knowledge research before without using fragments using this method, as well.
Only thing I can suggest is to scan some more things or discover some new aspects if you haven't discovered them all. That seemed to always work for me. Failing that, you could try relogging. Either way, it should resolve after some time, I just don't know what it's caused by or what to do specifically to fix it.

azanor, do you think it's possible for you to change the thaumometer so when you're riding a horse or a pig, that the animal you're riding doesn't get picked up by the thaumometer? I'm travelling across the surface with my horse, looking for new aspects but the thaumometer keeps picking up the horse's aspects so I constantly need to dismount the horse to analyze items
It does that with me and Archimedes Airships as well.
Alright aza. Ive been following tc since the first version and i have to say, this is by far the most impressive version. The way that you make automating stuff a lot slower and require much more work just makes it so incredibly rewarding once you have finally completed something, but alas there is one thing that keeps bugging me. It is REALLY difficult to keep track of which items contain which aspects at times when you want to distill essentia. Some are simple to remember like "hey, wheat may have the messis one cause its the picture of a crop!" but some like for example iter can be hard to find items for.
And so i have a suggestion that i would think be awesome if you would consider; an aspect logbook, and not like the thaumonomicon that shows which aspects it is composed of. im thinking a logbook that once an item has been scanned, it gets added to that book and you will be able to search for both items and aspects using a searchbar. It would be a medium to high level research that is made through infusing and while it is not necessary, it will definitely help a person out if he has a bunch of messy chests or just flat out forgot which items contains a certain aspect
I've been thinking about asking for this as well. It would also be useful for figuring out if you've scanned a particular item, block or mob yet, so you know if you need to go looking.

It does that with me and Archimedes Airships as well.
I've been thinking about asking for this as well. It would also be useful for figuring out if you've scanned a particular item, block or mob yet, so you know if you need to go looking.
Known issue explained in the OP, workaround can be found quoted in the first post on this page.
Then stop looking at the spawner.
there doesnt seem to be a real reason to go any other route than the standart iron, gold, thaumium.
not shure about copper for the first wooden wand, but ive always just skipped that since it requires an extra research. silver wand caps dont seem useful at all.
maybe there could be done something different with them.
