Whats a good, renewable, source of Ordo to use for metal purification? I guess, for metallum, im just going to have to use some iron, but with iron ingots now only worth 4 metallum that means the "ore doubling" thaumcraft offers is more like 1.75x.
I used to spin down Gelum or Granum for that, but when I go to 1.7 I'll probably use Potentia, or Instrumentum from Fabrico, or Motus from Iter. I'd get the fabrico and iter from crafting benches and boats.

Just a quick query. Why would you use the iron ingots instead of breaking each bar down into iron nuggets? That nets you 9 metallum per bar. Far more efficient if metallum is needed, though it takes longer to liquify it all due to the higher item count.
Edit: Bah, used the wrong item terminology for ingots/nuggets. FIXED!

Heh. I just built a gigantic complex essentia piping system that would have only worked in 4.1. I show the mass of valves, tubes, filtered pipes, and jars to my friend, and he calls me an insane genius. Ah, the ignorant. He had no idea it was (currently) completely dis functional.
Also, Farproc, I would suggest you use coal, and centrifuge the Potentia for Ordo.

Et Tu, non-working one direction essentia pipes? ^^ Also agree with using Coal/Charcoal, especially if using dark oaks and the Infernal Furnace. You can even use the Ignis on the furnace itself! Oh, the joys of a fast furnace.

Yeah, that's the plus of melting combustible matter in a furnace made of solid stone fused with crystals
As for the pipes, it was just seventy Void jars attached to filtered essentia tubes. (one for each aspect) The problem was that I had attached some of the tubes together. I had to use loads of valves, which in turn prompted my friend to think I was crazy. To be completely honest, the system might work, though it may be a bit difficult to operate due to some of the valves being located in rather undesirable locations. (I should also try out one directional tubes, that could fix it)

I was working on a storage system with no essentia piping fights between jars using the one-way tubes, but currently that's not possible until Thaumcraft 4 updates and the pipes are un-borked. I may be able to then get a system working that could pull from this storage network on demand.
This is an amazing and well done mod, yet I feel it is a bit one sided. In the gameplay, it seems you are a wizard of light who is trying to deter darkness. Yet since I am that person who likes the dark side of things, can you add an option to be a wizard of darkness, in which the taint biome don't do any harm to you and the magical biomes give you negative effects?
Hmm. On the one hand, that would slash the spawning rate. On the other, automatic kills of one-third the number is still easier! I've been shooting through holes, the obvious problem being that they shoot back.
Other findings, playing with equal-exchange:
Swapping obsidian for saplings works even better when you've already got water flowing over it. I've been summarily emptying lava lakes on my recent node-hunt/exploration mission.
On the other hand, the effect does not spread properly when replacing fences with cobblestone walls. There's no problem replacing fences with grass, or vice versa. (OK, it is a problem, but the exchange works as "expected".)
Trying to EE clay for saplings underwater was futile but amusing. It took me a couple of tries to realize it was replacing the water blocks... I would call that a bug (most things don't target water), but it occurs to me that replacing water with dirt could be useful out at sea.
And speaking of out at sea, a long standing bug: When scanning from a boat, you can only scan your boat. It's probably not a bug that flying (harness or SotZ) doesn't work while in a boat (or presumably while riding a horse), but that could have been entertaining....

I did some CraftTweaker scripts for Mystical Agriculture. They fill in a couple of small gaps in MA, and also let you make or duplicate not only vanilla plants, but the blocks, plants and wood from Quark and Biomes O'Plenty. Also spawn eggs for most vanilla mobs! The scripts are here on Github.
Ug, after working fine for a while, I'm getting another crash.

So, a mode where taint is harmless and magical forest is your enemy? That's bigger and harder than you make it sound, but doable and might be interesting. Although, I think it would work best as the central premise of a Thaumcraft add-on, rather than something you'd try to add to vanilla Thaumcraft. Minecraft does generally focus on being the light (see: torchlight vs. monster spawns), so Azanor tends to go along with that.

I have an Ordo factory, currently I'm breaking down Levers or Fence Gates. I break down the Machina to Motus then break down that to Ordo.. the Aer is being shunted into an end jar.

The problem is your view on the subject. There is no light or dark thaumaturgy. Much like tools and weapons, it depends on how it's used that defines if it's "good" or "evil". Would you say a sword is evil when it slays another person? How about if it slays undead and hostile beasts?
Sure, it's easy to say the taint is evil due to it's nature. It's a wild and out of control substance. Would you consider a bee to be evil if it stings you in self defense? I believe that the taint is sentient, and as such, it is acting out of self preservation.

Due to my snarky and sarcastic personality I can easily be seen as a jerk. If I've offended you in any way it was likely unintended.

The idea of a taint-oriented path of thaumaturgy has been around/requested since taint was first added back in Thaumcraft 2. Although the original form of this was more focussed on methods of controlling/containing taint

And by the way; Who is John Galt?

I wouldn't consider a bee evil if it stung me, but I might still exterminate the nest to ensure I wouldn't get stung again, especially if it was also defoliating my yard somehow. To continue your analogy...beekeepers exist. (I should know. Hi, Dad!)

Arcane bore with double cobble generator.
9 x 9 nether wart farm.
2 x 9 x 9 mana bean farms.
About 20 golems.
So far this has supplied all the essentia I need for my arcane bores, furnaces and infusions.
It took a few days to set up, but has been well worth it in easier management of essentia.
I do also use the Hopper Ducts mod to simplify item transfer, but it could probably all be done with vanilla hoppers/droppers and golems.
edit to add: I can also throw in arrows and armor from a mob farm to top up the jars if I run out of something mentioned above.
Have fun, and
KeepOnDigging!

The idea of a taint-oriented path of thaumaturgy has been around/requested since taint was first added back in Thaumcraft 2. Although the original form of this was more focussed on methods of controlling/containing taint
Angels are bright, though the brightest fell. Though all things foul would wear the brows of grace; Still grace must look so.
And by the way; Who is John Galt?
I wouldn't consider a bee evil if it stung me, but I might still exterminate the nest to ensure I wouldn't get stung again, especially if it was also defoliating my yard somehow. To continue your analogy...beekeepers exist. (I should know. Hi, Dad!)
I don't know if it is a intended feature or a bug.
It's a bug and it has been fixed for the next release. Only one blaze is supposed to spawn.
But… I quite like it how it is! It's not a bad deal, swapping a bucket of lava for 10 blaze rods
KeepOnDigging.
Yeah, this is a known bug. It's rather amusing actually. Too bad it's not intended.
