Having Recently started trying to toy with some of hte things in the Eldritch tab, im still unsure how something of it functions, i thought i might have guessed it right but as it stands i havent yet:
I cant seem to figure out how to "stabalize" a Flux Rift, I actaully find them quite beneficial to keep around since they take in flux, but im not sure when, or why they become unstable and fall to pieces, My current assumption is they are created once a flux threshold is met and constantly suck up flux to increase its size, but that by itself is something i had assumed to be destabilizing it in nature, and they only "pop" so to speak, after they have absorbed all the flux they can from surrounding chunks, i want to have a void siphon up next to one in a multiplayer server im in, so i dumped a bunch of essentia into a crucible to create a large one, but by the time i created my second causuality collapser for a second rift that opened, i found that both of them had exploded out into taint and the flux in the aura was relatively calm now. ive found no notation specificly stating a "how to stabilize a rift" but im curious if anyone has made setups to both farm void seeds and use a rift for flux cleanup.

Does anybody keep count on the flow of comments? Which page where we on when a foolish dev came around thinking this thread to be not about TC anymore because Azanor announced nothing like an update?
I have the Twilight Forest and Aether mods installed and for some reason the Vis Crystals are generating all over everything in those dimensions like even on and in structures. It's not bothering me too much but I was wondering if there is a way to make Vis Crystals generate in the overworld only and in no other dimension
It's been a while since i last posted ideas, But i just came up with some regarding taint and had to write them down.
This idea was born, partially by my dismay that taint destroys trees, as well as from a sudden image i formed in my head.
----------------------------------------
----------------------------------------
The crux of the idea is to diversify taint by separating it into three "types": Light Taint, Heavy/Deep Taint, and Growing Taint.
-Heavy Taint:
Heavy Taint Biomes are steeped in taint, Painting it a familiar shade of dark purple. They are always surrounded by Light Taint biomes.
While it does not spread, the Heavy Taint biomes are functionally the same as previous versions of taint. It is the matured form of taint and within this land, trees over time deteriorate and becomes hives, and animals becomes living tools to spread and maintain its presence.
There is little presence of nature in heavily tainted areas, even the ground and water having been heavily suffused with taint.
Heavy Taint can sometimes be found naturally, likely as the mishap of some ancient thaumaturge that grew out of control.
-Deep Taint:
Deep Taint is functionally and visually the same as heavy taint, only entirely underground. It is always found directly below Heavy Taint.
This 'biome' usually forms when Heavy Taint takes root, growing down into the ground, and through the caves, as the stone becomes converted.
Deep Taint biomes can also rarely be found in the wild, Recognizable as a opening in the earth reminiscent of a sinkhole. A lightly-purple mist spewing out from its depths and into the air, surrounding it with a biome of Light Taint that's settling around the opening.
-Light Taint:
Light Taint biomes, as the names suggest, are lightly tainted. Light Taint biomes always surround Heavy Taint biomes.
A Pale, grey-ish purple reminiscent of the mushroom biome covers the land, a light, grey-ish mist hanging in the air.
The Light Taint biome is not a precursor to Heavy Taint biomes however. It is actually the off-shoot and overflow of a vast amount of taint, blanketing the land in taint-spores. Like a layer of fine ash from the aftermath of a erupted volcano.
The minds of lesser animals seems to be affected by the spores, becoming slower when within the biome. The player is not noticeably affected however.
Although the trees still remain unharmed in Light Taint, their bark noticeably darken and their leaves fills with spores, making them pale.
Light Taint biomes does not spread, and will slowly disperse over time if there is no Heavy/Deep taint to support its presence.
-Growing Taint:
Lastly there's Growing Taint. It is the most similar to current and past versions of taint, following the same behavior.
It is aggressive and dangerous. Devouring the land in its vicinity as it spreads and consumes to perpetuate itself.
The occasionally explosive growth-spurts of Growing Taint has been the bane of many a reckless Thaumaturge and their careless experimenting in the past.
Once it is born it spreads fast, but it still only becomes difficult to remove once it has gained sufficient mass to take root. This difficulty stems from the fact that while growing it spews out all manner of defenses to preserve itself. The longer it stays, the bigger it gets. And the bigger it gets, the more defenses it can create.
While still at a small size, this is rather manageable. But if it is allowed to fester for long enough its voracious growth will feed the creation of more and stronger defensive measures, eventually overrunning anyone but the most prepared Thaumaturges.
While it is young however it is not much of a threat to a prepared Thaumaturge. But if it is allowed to take root, the best course is to simply leave it be.
Growing Taint, if given time, will eventually calm and settle. Maturing into Heavy Taint. Itis much more easily removed in this state as it's more spread out, preventing it from mustering a more concentrated effort to protect itself.
Once it has settled into heavy Taint it will cease to grow. Only maintaining its current size, slowly spreading Light Taint at its edges.
Other ideas:
-Chests and containers become turned into 'Crusted Boxes/Blocks' when tainted, which will drop their contents when broken. Any machines will also drop their contents when broken.
-When the aura is sufficiently suffused with Vis it can sometimes form blocky veins of crystallized Vis. These blocks can be mined and either used as decoration, or converted into crystals.
----------------------------------------
----------------------------------------
Anyways, that's it.
On a side note, Anyone else here heard of Hytale? From its style alone, i could easily imagine Thaumcraft belonging in it.
This all sounds very cool and a much deeper twist on the current form of Taint. I'd love to see the Deep taint implemented at the very least, as caves are severely unloved in most mods and could use a nice twist like this.
-------
re: side note; yep, Hytale has me hyped beyond belief, and i agree that thaumcraft would nicely fit in among what content we've seen so far
Great Mod but please give People a way to get Items thrown in the Crucible back.. Like ive been farming the entire day and slipped lick 1 inch aside and throw somethin in i needet pretty badly..
The crucible doesn't "remember" what you threw in. The Crucible instantly breaks whatever touches the boiling water down into the base components.
In light of this, I propose the addition of a new kind of Crucible, the PF Crucible, which basically makes the Crucible sentient by infusing it with a couple of Brains. In this Crucible, the essentia would not break down into its base components, but would stay stable, as if the Crucible still knows what you threw into it. You still would not have any way of retrieving whatever you accidentally dropped into it, though. Tantalus wouldn't envy you.
"Remember that spawn of Cthulhu you dropped into the boiling water? This Crucible remembers."
A stable crucible as a precursor to the Thaumatorium sounds exactly like what i'd want in thaumcraft, honestly.
the pressure of throwing the items in fast enough to not have a critical aspect degrade is INTENSE for me.
I have a small question which I cant seem to find an answer to. Am I doing something wrong or is the "split trajectory" option in foci crafting currently broken/bugged? Whenever I try to use it with one of my foci, it outright breaks the usage of the focus. It wont cast right then or if it does, it doesn't do any damage whatsoever. When I'm using scatter or target it works out just fine, only "split" doesn't.

I appreciate the help, fellow thaumaturges!
First: Tell us _exactly_ what you are doing with the foci. Might be that you are just using it wrong. No worries, we have all been there.
Second: Can you tell us if this "brokenness" appears with Thaumcraft as the only mod and if not, with which mods it starts to break?
Third: Just practice patience, we are going to get your problem fixed (I hope)

Yes, I AM a Vampire. Nice of you to notice.
Why is that box so big? What do you mean I should stop breaking the fourth wall?

Ok then, I'll try:
First:
I tried many things with it. But as I remember as soon as I build in the split trajectory option for a focus it stopped working properly whatsoever.
A few examples I have been trying:
* Split Trajectory
Bolt -> Fire
Bolt -> Frost
*Split Trajectory
Bolt -> Fire
Cloud -> Frost
*Bolt
Split Trajectory
Bolt -> Fire
Bolt -> Fire
While the ones with ST in the first slot after ROOT dont seem to do anything besides a cut off particle effect, the focus with the BOLT seems to use a bolt animation correctly, but it does no damage.
Second: I only use Thaumcraft and Baubles as main mods that really add anything new to the game. Besides them there is only Optifine, Xaeros World Map and Xaeros Minimap. I would assume they dont interfere with each other. Or atleast they shouldn't
Third: Sure, no worries. I can use the other options just fine
EDIT:
Oh, also, if the split trajectory works for anyone else, would you mind sharing with me on how to get it to work, please?
And second: I see that in creative mode there are still blocks left over from the outer lands, but nothing inside the thaumonomicon seems to indicate that travel is possible in our version yet. Am I wrong to think that those are just some assets Azanor left in for later updates or is there still a way to reach the outer lands with legitimate ways?
Split Trajectory is usually used when you try to do 2 things at once, like Bolt and Projectile. What are you trying to do?
Nothing in particular. I just tried to do two things at once. Like fireing a fireball and spawning a cloud of ice beneath the enemy at the same time.
As I said, ST doesn't work at all in my case. Does anyone have an working example for me that I could test? It does not matter what the focus does, its just to see if something isn't working right.
So, is it possible in the current version to obtain the primal pearl, or one of the equivalent items to build the void metal essentia smelter? Has it actually worked for anyone?
Also: is it possible to make a golem fill a bucket? No, the use seal on a block which gets filled with the fluid doesn't work. The problem is that I want to bucket Betweenlands swamp water, not regular water.
Edit: just got a pearl. I nuked 5 or 6 rifts by now, only one of them dropped the pearl...
Hello, i have a question about the Flux Condenser : can i pump in it multiple type of essentia to work (with the 4 different input) or it need to receive only 1 type of essentia ?

You can even hook jars with different essentia up to the same input. Once one jar goes dry, the condenser will pull from the next one.

Can't you put a Use seal on a source block for the golem to click on?
Failing that, a dispenser should be able to fill buckets.
The block that gets filled is the exact opposite of a source block; it's the block that does the filling.
That said, I'm rather surprised it doesn't work. Did you try 'Click on empty air'?
Oh, I haven't considered that it could be interpreted as "flowing block". I was thinking of, like, you place two source blocks with a gap, and the one in between is getting filled with another source block.
