You can have five on the same layer, and place them in such a way that they all have overlapping ranges. I.e. they all affect the same area. Plus five is better than four, in terms of stability.

Now I'm the one having trouble with a tree farm. I'm using a Botania hopperhock to handle the collecting and storing. I've got four Use seals for planting dark oak saplings, a Provision seal on the sapling chest, and a Lumberjack seal. A breaker/smart golem for the chopping, a deft/smart golem for the planting. The trouble is, the breaker golem will indeed chop trees, but the deft golem won't plant. He just stands there and stares at me innocently. I've tried picking him up, I've tried punching him, nothing works.
I have the Use seals set on empty air above where the saplings are to go. I have set them to 'click on empty air' and to call for provisioning from the sapling chest. Dark oak saplings are whitelisted on the Use and Provision seals. I can't figure out what I'm doing wrong.
The only thing I can think of is that they're greatwood golems, and you specified unlocking brass material. Why was that?
Greatwood golems have worked fine for me in my tree farm. You have to unlock brass to get the fine manipulators trait. Unlike the breaker arms, that trait wasn't specifically referenced in the thaumonomicon anywhere I could find.
I'm not sure if that's a question or a statement, but yes... Whitelisted items have an 'x' in the lower right corner, and blacklisted ones do not.
Actually, you can put more than one item in the whitelist and turn the x into a number. Maybe it means you use more than one thing? I'm not really clear, but there is a checkbox for whitelist/blacklist, the x seems to just mean "any amount". Maybe you could put 3 items into a crucible and make some alchemically? I haven't tested any of this, just something I noticed re the x on the whitelist.
Can somebody show me their setup of an efficient Infusion Altar? I’m not sure how to improve mine. I have 5 stabilizers and plenty of skulls underneath (symmetrically) , but I can’t do a “moderate” infusion.

Stabilizing items like skulls are capped at 12. More than that will actually *decrease* stability.
Also, if the chunk runs out of vis - which can easily happen with 25 vis generators running - the stabilizers stop working. You need a high-vis chunk and/or lots of vis batteries.
Alternatively, use another mod to generate the RF.
so uh. i realize this is very most likely outdated. and not for this particular thread. but google fails me and forum searches fails me in finding an answer to this. currently using Thaumcraft-1.7.10-4.2.3.5 and im getting a crash that is litterally making a world unplayable an open eye link below will give a quick summary of the crash log but basically i found a thaumium pickaxe in a pyramid chest, i took it out and put it in my storage. later i needed something that could break redstone ore so i went back to my storage and picked up the thaumium pickaxe. i havent touched much of thaumcraft as at this stage im just trying to get some materials for basic running of the house i built, as soon as i broke the ore this crash happened: https://openeye.openmods.info/crashes/dbcc23bea8269f9491bce4987d66fb4f
any ideas how to fix? i cant even load the world at the moment. at this point i may uninstall thaumcraft completely, as it seems mega untable even with the most "stable" version there is and not touch it because litterally if it isnt pechs that crash me its this =/

i see there is a new update. were you able to fix the bug of golems not rendering with their upgrades properly when placed down?
its like 30% of the time the golem renders properly and 70% of the time he doesnt.

I figured out my tree farm problem. I was finding the seal interface confusing - the little 'x' on whitelisted items I thought meant blacklisting.
I find that x on the whitelist odd, too.

nope, either the crystal or crystal seed research notes specificity note you cant

minerguy341: This may indicate a video driver or rendering conflict issue.
AnrDaemon are you sure? It shows the aspects of other blocks, just not aura nodes.
