I just tried the beta, I like the changes to research. However, I've noticed that the creative mode cheat sheet isnt working, which has made it harder to try out the new stuff. Also, I suggest making the gauntlet an open hand, as the current model makes it difficult to tell what it is.

You might have the cheat sheet disabled in your config settings. Also even though it sometimes works the new research entries aren't shown until you close the research browser GUI and open it again.
Hey a bit of feedback here, I was playing around in creative and I wanted to scan my cauldron I right clicked it and instead of scanning it the cauldron ate it. You might want to disable that functionality for the scanner, many thaumometers will be saved!
Cauldron only eats stuff if you click on it's top and like someone else mentioned sneak clicking will also prevent it.
TF2 is the only game where you can, potentially, die to a shovel being wielded by a man in a wizard hat, parachuting around, defying physics, and on fire.

Along with that, it doesnt show the status of the vis in the chunk - i don't know if that is intended or not. Finally, I do not know where to find a reasonable source of Praecantatio - it seems to be neccesary for a lot of stuff, but so far, only enchanted objects seem to contain it in very small quantities. Is there a better source of it?

The goggles display the amount of essentia in containers such as warded jars and cauldrons. I would like if the googles displayed the ambient vis levels so I don’t need to hold my Thaumometer all the time. I’m not sure if it has changed, but Netherwart was a good source for praecantatio.

I was just racking my brain for the same answer just recently, came over to the forum for help until i realized that answer to that was the first item we made in TC6. Salis Mundas, even as the mage now we have a reason to stock up on redstone

1. If theorycrafting gives me two options, neither of which are possible, is there a way to "cancel"? When it happens to me, I just pickaxe the table and recreate it, but it seems like there is probably a better way. (See image.)
2. How do you "use" items in theorycrafting? One time it asked me for a specific type of vis crystal that I had, but clicking on the page did nothing even with the crystal in my inventory, so I chose the other option.
since this is the beta, I'm guessing we can report bugs here, or..? Anyway, the first one is that in the golemancy thing in the fundamentals tab, it asks this research with a missing name, (although I found out that it was scanning a golem)
Another one is after I discovered Thaumium in magical metalurgy, It gives me another missing research thing, which was like voidstuff or something. I'm guessing this has something to do with voidmetal, but I'm not sure.
When I have a beacon near me, and I use it as my research aid, Aural Influence shows up but I cannot click it, even when my beacon base is set, and their is an item that activated the beacon.

Is their a way to regain aura that you lost in the environment? Like in TC5 you were able to use those totems.
I have scanned a tainted mobs, and tainted blocks and yet I haven't unlocked the taint research. Do I need to go to a tainted biome? My home is infected with taint and I need to save it. I have the tainted seed research, though.
How do you get phials of essentia? I can see them when doing theorycrafting, but I'm pretty sure they don't tell you how to get liquid essentia in the first alchemy thing. Is there more research I'm supposed to do?

That's a good question, and I have yet to find a good source myself in TC6 for Praecantatio. Enchanted objects, enchanted books, some potions, one or two other magically crafted things, but nothing close to a pure source.

Indeed, salis mundus is one of the few things that contains Praecantatio. But not very much, and it's an expensive way to get it. Possibly slightly better once you have researched and constructed a thaumatorium.
Another thing about Thaumcraft 6 is that unless you're excruciatingly careful, ... well, actually, even IF you are excruciatingly careful, you're going to generate a lot of flux, possibly enough to limit your ability to craft things to help you produce less flux. You ... might wanna consider doing your alchemy and essentia refining in a safe spot well away from your main base, just in case of mishaps.
How do i combine crystals into another crystal. This is not clear to me at all
You dont, if this is in reference to the "what do these two crystal essentias make" its asking for you to produce it from somewhere, for example the terra and victus one, its not asking you to combine the 2 types directly, its asking you to crystallize something with herba in it and "deposit" it into the research, with the base components
