I believe the first one is the one with Advanced Genetics in it...
Ended up removing two mods (Advanced genetics and Runic Dust) due to crashes... :c
The third one I dont THINK petains to A.G., but I threw it in just incase. :3

Hey Obsi, how rare is it to get a specific gene? I've tried several times with different cells and have only gotten Basic Gene. Also, have you already implemented a spider ability to climb walls and not have to jump up one-block high steps?

I believed I either tried to get blood from myself (syringe)
And/or I tried to open/use a machine.
This is on a server, not in singleplayer.
I'd be happy to make a server for you to test it on, or for me to record the crashing and all.

It isn't rare at all, to my testing.
You CHOOSE if you want basic gene or a different gene, when you go to turn DNA into Gene.

You CHOOSE if you want basic gene or a different gene, when you go to turn DNA into Gene.

Weird, it only shows basic gene in the selection screen, unless I can't see the options in a small window. I'll keep trying and see what I get. Btw, the helixes I decode are Helix(Basic Gene)

There's your problem.
The (Basic Gene) means that it's only good for Basic Genes.
I found I get these from Villagers.
Try getting some "skin scales" from zombies, spiders, creepers, cows, chickens... Anything that has a "Good" ability. (I dont recommend creepers... Unless you WANT to be a creeper)
And then try decoding that Helix.

Some cells and skin scales I get are from spiders and the occasional zombie/skeleton. I tried with some good luck and got a lot of creeper skin scales too. Oh, man, just thought of a feature: Get incomplete genes from mob drops. Would make mob farming a whole lot more worth the effort.

If THAT turns up with just basic gene... You've found a bug!
If it turns up with "basic gene" AND "explode yourself" then nothing's wrong.
Report back please (I'm curious. )

Edit: I think Spider cells only come back with (Basic Gene) because spiders don't yet have an ability. Haven't tried too much with creeper cells, will report back on this.

Good news! Talking with the Runic Dust mod (a different mod that was causing crashes) and he told me which crash was which!

YES! Finally got explode yourself from a creeper helix! No bugs to report. Guess spiders and skellies don't have abilities as of yet. They should though.

I THINK they're being worked on, but you may wanna check with the creator.
Also, don't forget about the vanilla mobs!

Yeah, I won't like it though if I die from exploding myself. Also, I just sent him a message about possible spider abilities, and MAYBE a wither boss ability. To be able to shoot wither skulls at mobs would be almost intoxicating.

I wouldn't be too happy about exploding myself, either... But... A zombie might be happy to... HMMM. >:3
I think there's a different mod to do that... Not sure though.

But to have spider abilities without the spider queen mod? So awesome. Seriously, not needing the You Are The Wither mod to shoot wither skulls? Brilliant, brilliant, brilliant I tell you! Genius I say!

Also, it seems you can extract blood from other mobs. Seems like another way to extract DNA.

I agree.

I've found centrifuged Creeper Blood (Green syringe) will KILL you by giving you Wither.
Not so sure HOW to get DNA from them, though... Will require some playing around with. :3

Me neither. Also, actually killed a pig by spamming the scraper right-click function on it. Guess that's a way to prevent it from becoming OP.

Weird, how am I able to do it w/o energy? I've been doing it for days straight. Unless I downloaded a version that doesn't require energy and/or I forgot to update to an energy requiring version.
Edit: Wonder if you can make a slime ability? I'm always wondering what it'd be like to be able to split like a slime, or maybe all mobs drop slimeballs?
