Please read the project page. This mod requires the bookshelf api. It is a separate mod and is linked on the curse page. You can't run this mod without it
My apologies! I added the API and all is working well :).
May I make a suggestion? It is very small. In the Information tab, the color of the background mixed with the green font is very difficult to see on my monitor. I tried it on another monitor and it is a little better and readable, but I still think those two colors are much too conflicting. Maybe a dark grey instead or more of a blue, red or purple like Thermal Expansion?
So here comes a feature that I think a lot of you will like. Its a little complex and you have to understand how the functions are being used, but here is the ability to add functions to the blocks while in game. Don't be scared I know it looks like a lot but this is the easiest way to give you this ability

Ooh, that does look interesting. Though so far I've been able to read the new json files just fine, this sounds like it'll be a lot easier than closing Minecraft every time I want to change or even just check certain block values

That is what I wanted to bring. As you change the values, it will change the live values. In fact, you don't even really have to press save, that is there for when you're creating values for a block that has no values. Using this gui, you can view and edit current values and map entirely new blocks, you can even set the value for all of that block type or by Metadata. It's a powerful gui and I hope it will finally make the configuration easy for everyone. Changes made will be saved to the json so it's up to you if you wish to use this or the json.
By the way, I'm in need of help mapping vanilla blocks to fair values, if one gives good speed it should take multiplicity. If you find some values you like, post them here. I may just make them the defaults
Wow, I can't believe you changed it, and so quickly! The brown looks great! Thank you so much
How exactly do I access this GUI to add values? There are blocks from ProjectE and Extra Utilities I added in your 1.7.3 version that I'd like to add again

P.S. Haha, the bookshelf API font
If you are an op on your server or in single player, just type "/configureBlockValues" or something similar to that. I can't remember it exactly but it's something like that.
Have fun with it! Read my earlier post about how the functions work to really get the most out of it

I wouldn't really know what values to assign the blocks, but something I have noticed is that there seems to be more blocks that positively affect efficiency than speed. I don't know if this is done on purpose, but I can't really get my cuboids to go as fast as I'd like them, no matter how much I try to optimize them. Nice work on the user-friendly interface
You can now use NEI to see the values of blocks. This will be an option when looking at the usages of a block. I hope this helps some of you learn what some blocks do. If you click on the graphs, you will open a list of all blocks that have values. I've also mapped most of the vanilla blocks so you'll have more options.
Expect an update soon. Sorry for all the frequent updates but it is the first release and it is bound to happen. Hope you guys enjoy the new build
New version coming out soon. Here is what you should know:
Warning:
Break and pick up all blocks before updating. I have made a major change to the inventory code so you'll need to make sure all cores and banks are in item form. Like in a chest or your inventory. That way, you can just place them back down and they will move to the new system. You will crash unless you do this. Sorry for the that. But it comes with the benefit that the storage system will be much easier to create.
If you plan on using this without NEI, don't. There seems to be some unforeseen issue with sided method calls that NEI solves. The problem is at the vanilla level I believe and NEI patches the issue.
You need to delete/modify the blockValues.json. Some of the defaults listed a 0 for the denominator and that will cause NaN issues. If you've added blocks, copy those to a text document, delete the config, load the game to generate the new file, and then add them back. Or you can open the mod .jar and copy the changed values to your existing json. This will hopefully be the last time you have to do this so don't be afraid to add in as many values as you like.
Features:
The I/O can now be controlled with redstone. All it will do is disable automatic import and export for that I/O. It will not stop things from being piped into it.
You can place torches and redstone control on blocks now
Fixes:
Lighting issue with the fuel banks has been solved. Finally.
Fixed issue with I/O blocks not inserting into other I/O blocks
Fixed issue with the fluid tank render level not matching the actual level
There is likely to be other changes as well but those are the important ones. Since we have been ironing out the major bugs from the first release the update schedule should slow down. I'm sorry we've pushed so many updates but I don't want to hold back fixes just for that reason. I hope you will all be patient with us and try to get this thing up and going. I'm excited to see my long awaited vision come to life as I've wanted it to for ages. We are going to make this mod the best it can be and I hope you'll keep up with it as we go.
Storage system is next. Hopefully (if things go as I want them to) it should be close to a testing state next week. At the very least, the basic chest will be. More upgrades will come.
so since this wont Work without nei, how cant I get it on my server?
I should have been more clear, that is only for client side. Server side you don't need it. The issue has to do with GUIs so you don't need NEI on the server
Ok the list of changes has gotten much bigger. We have fixed a number of bugs and adjusted some things to make it a little more fair. I'll update you when we release but I don't want to make a list to have to change it again. I plan to release very soon. As soon as I find this build stable I'll release it. That way, I can work on the storage system and let that version get out there
Things you should know, all blocks need to be broken before you update. You can place them afterwards but there was a major change to all inventories to make them much better and they will not work with old inventories. I hate to do this but its the easiest way moving forward. This will be the first major release since the first one so there are a lot of changes. Please delete you config directory as many things have changed and if you want to get the new values and features you'll need to remove the old ones. I consider this the release that puts the furnace and crusher into a stable state. Not too many changes will occur with those block as we are moving to new systems. I will be working on the storage system and Dyo will be working on generators. Hopefully we can have something for you guys to play with soon but both are very new systems. While I've done the storage before, I'm doing it in a totally new way. It'll function the same in game, but the code will be quite different. Hence why the inventories have had to be changed. You will have your search bar and all the features you've come to love from the last system plus a lot more. I'll explain more when we get to that point.
For now, enjoy the new release. As always post any issues you find to the issue tracker on GitHub and we will do our best to get the solved as quickly as possible. Most of the changes and fixes in this release came from you guys finding bugs so thank you to those who helped out.
If you've been thinking of putting this into a mod pack, please use this version. This is much better than any previous. If you play a pack with an old version, ask the creator to update to this version. Version 2.1.5
I have some exciting news. The storage system is now up and running. I've done the work to make sure that this one is far more stable and easy to expand upon. That means more expansions. I have plans for many more expansions. I won't spoil anything yet, but I have some pretty neat ideas. Also, a very requested feature is already implemented: a search bar. There is a search expansion that already works and is ready. Search by name or using @ you can search by mod just like nei. Sorting will come next along with all the old expansions and many more. Also, there is no limit on size. Make it as big as you want. There is no limit.
I hope you guys like the changes. A new beta build will be out soon so keep an eye out for it
The storage system is almost ready for release. Here is what has changed
You can still build it in any form
There must be a connection to the core however
There is no longer an inventory limit
Current expansions:
Basic: Just gives you another block to access. Think of it as a cable connecting your system
Capacity: Gives 11 slots
Search: You can now search for things in the inventory. Use '@' to search by mod. More tags to come
Sort: Allows you to sort the inventory, will try its best to merge stacks together
Security: Keep unwanted people from accessing or breaking your system. By default when added locks to just you but you can add trusted people from its interface (shift click to see)
Crafting: Adds a crafting grid. Works with NEI, will pull from inventory for recipes
Hopping: Pulls items in to system from the world. Default range is 3 but can be anywhere from 0-16 by accessing its interface (shift click). Can be controlled by redstone
Smashing: Will break the block it is facing. Stores one pick, will use that pick to break (including fortune enchant). Redstone controlled
More expansions to come
This is already many times over better than the last version. The system is efficiency and feels just like a simple AE system. I know you guys are going to enjoy this
(Hint, you can put a storage bus on any part of the block and you can access it from your AE system, cheap storage)
Also, as a recommendation, maybe make a tier system for capacity expansions in order to make things a bit more compact.
Possible. The thing about this system is the blocks are pretty cheap. Upgrades would have to be expensive to offset that. The one thing keeping this well balanced is the fact that it takes up so much space. You really have to plan out how you do things. Plus, it gives you a sense that you have that many items. One block magic isn't really my type of thing. However, I can see some wanting the upgrades. It is a difficult decision that I will have to think about for a little while

Yeah. If you decide to do it, I wouldn't make the upgrades too drastic in order to keep your vision of the mod. You just keep on keeping on

Weirdly enough, I added the Bookshelf API and it still crashed when I right clicked the modular furnace core
EDIT: Nope, same problem, I installed bookshelf but I can't enter the Furnace GUI, when I do I crash
