That is the exact bug that I fixed. The non core blocks were forgetting where the core was on relog. Should work fine now

I have a few of the furnaces going in my new world an they work amazingly, even with my hopper/translocator (chickenbones) setups!
Been trying to think up some new things to add with new blocks as well, like obsidian. But haven't been able to think of anything for the blocks to do/add

I have a new block that is WIP, works just not pretty. You see it in a video I'm making to show the mod myself
One of the mods that I feel would be an amazing add on both in vanilla and in a modpack, a job well done!
The version of this mod we played on was the older version that you had accidentally had linked as the new one, so the furnaces don't show their true potential, however we might do a follow up soon!
Really like the video, is there a chance you could make one with the updated mod? If you could, I would gladly put it into the post.
Absolutely! I'll have an updated video up by Thursday afternoon
Awesome!. If you could, show it adapts to texture packs by changing the config. I like how you showed it in Sphax and I think it is a feature worth noting. Keep up the good work and if anyone reading this hasn't watched their videos they are pretty good. Wouldn't hurt to check them out
9 iron blocks, 3 diamond blocks, rest redstone, and it still eats fuel like there's no tomorrow. I get that losing efficiency is desired, and I like it very much, just not at that rate.
I have experienced that too. It is actually harder than you would think to write a formula that works exactly as planned. I am working on it though, also you only need one diamond block, more than one makes no difference
Also something like upgrades like the ones in http://www.minecraft...t/topic/869534- would be awesome. Especially upgrades that'd make use of BC/IC2 energy instead your standard coal/charcoal/lava fuel.
You got the mod on GitHub? I might take a look at the formula. Applied mathematics part of my work .
Please do, it is at the bottom of the TileEntityFurnaceCore
Had just a quick look over after I decompiled it, so far, so good. Formula looks solid. I have a few ideas I'll do on paper, but can't do that now since I'm not on my dev workspace. No promises though.
However, just a suggestion, make use of way more parentheses. I know it's not really necessary in java, but trust me, it'll be helpful later on. A quick idea I had while looking at the code, was you could try it as case-structure.
Say if there are 3 redstone blocks, use formula a, if there are 4 redstone blocks, use formula b, if there are 5 redstone blocks, use formula c and so on. You could set the formulas however you like and play around with them until you like it.
Yeah that was where I was trying to avoid. The iron blocks work great and that formula is solid, but once you get into high number redstone blocks it doesn't matter until you go full redstone. Basically, I'm going to have to plot each individual point on a graph and derive a formula from that to fit all the points.
Completely forgot to include another bug report. I'm not getting any xp out of the modular furnace. Either with or without the emerald block.
I know case structures are bad, but they can help in a pinch until you figure out a better method if you're desperate. Anyway I'll test a few formulas, and will post if any of these turn out to be any good, again no promises though. Can't just now, 'cause I'm on break at work .
The experience issue seems to be a vanilla mechanic. Are you clicking the output? If you just click and pick it up you'll get more experience. Vanilla furnaces do the same thing. Weird but it's one of those weird vanilla things
Just watched your new video. Looking forward to seeing the IO blocks in action! Would defintley help simplify my current setup being able to configure what block take what.
I currently have 4 furnaces all connected to a common input box, output box, and a fuel box. And with nice use of hoppers and translocaters (chickenbones mod) I get them to all share the common boxes without any current issues, but it involves numerous hoppers and translocaters. Something like your IO block would greatly simplify things for me, and even allow me to add a second layer of furnaces (doubling to 8) without any major hopper/transloacter work needed.
Also would love to see that lava core in survival, but I also agree it needs to be a rather expensive item to make. For eample need to make a core, and a core case. The core could consist of 8 Lava bucket surrounding a block of diamond. then the case could be 4 blaze rods ( B ), 4 obsidian (O) and an ender eye (E) (like shown below) ALso, not sure if possible, but make it so when you use the lavacore, the redstone blocks have no effect on speed (or very minimal) as with 'infinite' fuel would make them a bit overpowered with a full redstone furnace. Or possibly make use of Coal blocks, maybe craft 9 of them to make condensed coal and make use of a few of them in the base recipe, so you end up needed several stacks of coal blocks overall... or something... Just more random ideas of mine

Also I'd like to agree that current redstone blocks seem a bit.. crazy on the fuel consumption, I have 2 per furnace now which isnt too bad, but any more than that and it burns through fuel stupidly fast. Fuel isnt a huge concern as I current have a barrel with over 200stacks of charcoal directly fueling them, but when it takes a few pieces of fuel per item, its just a tad wastefully and makes me setup a secondary furnace system to cook my fuel (turn woodblocks into charcoal)

But still overall really enjoying the mod!
It makes it all worth it to hear people enjoy the mod. It really does. So thank you for downloading it and giving it a try.
As for the lava core, probably won't be implemented. Right now, its a "Lava lamp". Felt I should at least give it an alternate purpose. I may add it back in later, however it would be used to craft a totally different furnace core block that wouldn't have any special modifiers for what you build it out of. It would just be a slightly better furnace with no fuel cost. If not that, if it is going to be implemented at all I will require you fill it with lava and make it a building block and not a core. Who knows.
As for the I/O. After some toying it seems to be a harder task then I originally thought. I do really want to add it though, however I am going to get the mod to a stable point with no glaring bugs, then I'll work on it. Step at a time.
Finally to build this wall of text more, The cost of fuel for redstone blocks is finally changed to a point I feel is fair. With no redstone or Iron you start with the fuel efficiency (for explanation sake i will refer to it as 'x') then for each iron block, it shifts x/25 towards higher efficiency, the opposite for redstone. Basically, iron and redstone are one to one moving efficiency in either direction, so a furnace consisting of half redstone and half iron would work just as well as all cobble (which you can't because you can only select 25 blocks). So you choose where you trade speed for efficiency. With this formula, all iron smelts a stack with around two coal, and all redstone uses around 14. A little more fair.
just found this mod and it looks like a good idea but will u update to 1.6.4 soon?
Probably, I am seeing what other mods do. Most work on 1.6.2 for now so I'm sort of waiting to see what happens. Depending on what changes happened in forge, it may work. But probably not.
Just to get some clarification as far as the redstone goes. Using your example with a half/half redstone/iron system (for sake of argument, odd block is anythign else, like diamond/emerald/craftcore) what would the increase in speed be? 1.5x, 2x?
Basically just trying to figure out what kind of speed increase the redstone will provide per block/combination. I like the idea of mixing/matching your redstone/iron to tweak your efficiency/speed rates, just would like to see what kind of speed increase you would get with a 50/50 split and per block basis.
Guess what I'm looking for is something like along the lines of (numbers pulled out of nowhere)..
Iron = +10% fuel efficiency
redstone = -10% efficiency +10% speed
Cant wait for the update to get all your current tweaks/fixes

Get it while it's hot. New update pushed out. With it, the IO block in full working order, reworked formula, and bug fixes! Also creative tab. This version is the closest to how I want the mod to be. I encourage you to play around with the redstone/iron ratios and tell me what you think. I hope this is a little better. Also, the IO should help you with your automation. To see exactly how it works watch my video, however it should be pretty straight forward.
Hope you like it and let me know if you have any more ideas

I don't think I will add more furnaces. I designed it so the furnace capabilities come from the blocks you build it from. As for upgrades, maybe.
