I've seen some people get stuck because there is a little-known rule that I found while decompiling the vanilla spawning code that says that new animals will not spawn if there are more 15 or more in the loaded chunks near you. So don't get two pigs and breed 20 of them and expect to get cows. As long as you try to stay under 15 until you have all the animals you want, you should be able to get them within a couple of hours. Just make sure the grassy platform is as wide as possible, well lit, in a good biome (plains or forest) and at least 24 blocks away from where you usually work.
I never knew that. Interesting.
I guess that's why I haven't been getting any new animals lately. I think more than 15 animals already spawned for me. Sadly, a good 10 of them are sheep.
I appreciate the bug report, but I'm no longer updating the mod for 1.6.4.
You are almost definitely dealing with an ID conflict between our items or blocks and not a true recipe conflict. These can easily be solved by going into either my config file or the config file for Big Reactors and changing the IDs of the conflicting items or blocks. The reason that I'm so sure that this is the case is because 1.29e is in Agrarian Skies which also contains Big Reactors and I this is the first I've heard of it.
These conflicts were impossible to avoid pre 1.7, but now IDs are no longer a concern. That is one of the main reasons that I won't work on 1.6.4 anymore. You might even say that 1.7 is the fix for this issue.
I spent all last night playing with this mod + skyblock, and I have to say that it's absolutely brilliant. Perfectly balanced, and fits with minecraft in a way that few popular mods do. Kudos.
Request/suggestion: can you give gunpowder a purpose? I'm collecting a lot of it from my mod drop trap, but there isn't a use for it in skyblock (no need for TNT)
My motto has always been, "Make things possible, not easy". Using a crook and a barrel to get iron sucks. You could always kill zombies for iron or purify some zombies to set up a village where you can kill the iron golems that spawn.
Chances are good that if you are really struggling, you're probably overlooking some tactical options. You could go fishing to generate dirt. You could create some grass blocks and use that to spawn some chickens, which give you the option of composting eggs. Hell, a bunch of chickens on top of a hopper can easily be used to create an automatic dirt farm using only vanilla blocks. You can create a mob farm and compost the zombie flesh or even use the bonemeal to quick-grow some carrots, wheat or potatoes instead of using it on trees. If you don't have water yet, thats fine. Try growing some pumpkins since they don't need water after their main stem is fully grown.
String and Silkworms is very good for making dirt as well. Sure it takes 25 pieces for each dirt block, but you get loads of it per tree. In my testing using saplings vs string and silkworms, String and silkworms nets you twice as much dirt on average than saplings.
Also, as far as Skyfactory is concerned, sieving dirt until you get a Force sapling then switch over to using Force trees for dirt production. Force saplings only take 1 bonemeal to grow and you get force nuggets at the same time as saplings. Using 18 force nuggets to make 2 force ingots into a set force shears will get you loads of leaves for composting. Also, setting up an early mob farm is very beneficial because of loot bags which often can contain a bucket filled with force liquid. Wahoo, free iron bucket not to mention all of the rotten flesh that can be composted.. If you utilize all of resources available in Skyfactory, you should be able to setup a cobblegen after only 2-3 hours of starting.
Man I been playing to around 2 years but you both just told me a ton I things I had no idea about...lol. So I think part of my issue is that I never played vanillia (I started out with DW20s pack) and I been noticing that even though mods really are great but they also can just by pass parts of vanilla mechanics to make things faster or more compact. Look at most mod servers you never really see cool things like you would see on hermitcraft.
maybe I should try using more vanilla mechanics for a bit...lol.

The things they mentioned are pretty exclusive to Ex Nihilo, or other mods. You're not going to find composting or force liquid or stuff like that in vanilla Minecraft. Which isn't to say Vanilla Minecraft is especially lacking. It's generally a good idea to play a game right out of the box, first, so that you can tell which aspects you want to change, add to, or get rid of.
Also, if you really want to get the most from Ex Nihilo, you may want to consider downloading and playing a Skyblock map, since that's what it was designed for.
Ironically, Ex Nihilo version 1.35b seems to be incompatible with Forestry version 3.0.0.90.
Running Minecraft version 1.7.10, and Forge version 10.13.0.1180.

Yep. I released compatibility for Forestry 2.0 on the 17th. Forestry moved to version 3.0 and broke my compatibility on the 18th. It literally worked for one day. I'll have it fixed this weekend sometime (again).

Yep I been usingYUNoMakeGoodMap by LexManos to make void map then I just spawn in 1 sapling and 1 cobble to sand on so the sapling can grow...then i play from there.
The second one is a crash on startup with 1.35, and 1.35b both give the same crash so I'm gonna use the 1.35b one. http://pastebin.com/iU3BqnJK
I really hope you can get these fixed. I'm not running a skyblock, but ex nihilo gives better resource gathering in it since there are no conventional tech mods. I appreciate the time, and thank you for making a great mod like this.

The 1.35b is an incompatibility with Forestry bees. They updated, and broke the fix. Erasmus already knows, and is planning on updating soonish to fix the issue.

That was odd somehow forestry ended up in that folder. Don't know how but I'm booting up the pack without it so hopefully that fixes things.
Edit: Okay that fixed the problems, thanks for the info, still not sure how forestry ended up in my load out, but its gone now and everything is running smoothly.
My world got corrupted when I tried pulling dirt out of a stone barrel with a stone sword in my hand (I don't know if the sword in my hand and the stone barrel have anything to do with it)
Mod version : 1.35b
I don't suppose you have a crash log?
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------
In other news... It's that time again!
Version 1.36
- Updated Forestry compatibilty to not crash with v3.0.
- Restored compatibility with Magic Bees and Extra Bees.
- Wintry bees and Attuned bees no longer need flowers.
- Mystical, Sorcerous, and Unusual bees want to settle near gourds instead of flowers now. (because pumpkins = magic?)
- All bees should be slightly less picky about where they live.
- Bees now recognize potted plants as valid flowers (and cactus, and mushrooms).
- Blazing Pyrotheum is recognized as a valid heat source for the crucible
- Ex Nihilo ores can be melted in the Tinkers Construct smeltery.
- Added AE2 Charged Certus Quartz to the sieve. Look for it in sand. It's extremely rare though, so be prepared to be at it for a while.
- Added a barrel recipe for AE2 Sky Stone (lava + certus quartz dust).
- Fixed a typo in the localization for Crushed End Stone.
Lots of changes under the hood for the bees and the barrels. Let me know if (when) you guys manage to break it.
Ive been considering adding Tinker's Construct to my Skyblock style, but with the visual glitch Ive had of it, it just irks me. And I hate having to wait for rain to get water.

I forget who I told this to, but if you add Natura, you can get water from cacti.
I forget who I told this to, but if you add Natura, you can get water from cacti.
It may have been me, but I cant stand Natura. It adds in way too much for me using way too little. And it's the same for Pam's Harvestcraft which I do enjoy Pam's mods, but I dont want to use a mod that adds in tons of features that I dont feel like using.
I can't seem to get Autonomous Activators to be able to automate the sieve in 1.7.10. Using Ex-Nihilo-1.36 and ThermalExpansion-[1.7.10]4.0.0B5-13. The items get placed in the sieve but no further "right cilcking" happens. Don't know who's side it is on.

Thanks for making such an awesome mod!
It won't do it by default. There's a config option you have to change from false to true. Something about sieve automation.
I never knew that. Interesting.
I guess that's why I haven't been getting any new animals lately. I think more than 15 animals already spawned for me. Sadly, a good 10 of them are sheep.
I guess it's time to slaughter some sheep.
Thanks
This is epic. Upvoted.

Don't forget to read the crashlog before reporting the crash. It might tell you why it's crashing.

Mantle Environment: Environment healthy.
I don't know if they changed something with the latest build, or what. But I can run each of the mods independently, just not together. Which kinda defeats the purpose.
First one is a crash on 1.34 when trying to put water into a barrel. http://pastebin.com/W5sN4xiT
And that's what I get for posting so early in the morning
