I really want to try the 1.7.2 mod, but I'm having trouble loading it. I noticed that the MPB_values folder it creates is empty as well. Here's the log:
One of your other mods seems to have deleted the glass block (probably Pane In The Glass or SpaceCore - Connected Glass).
I'll make the next update not react so badly to missing blocks, but in the meantime you can download the default mpb file from here. Just put in in the MPB_values folder and it will stop crashing.

That was a good fix, thank you. And thanks for pointing out that I have two glass mods...I only need one of them
Version 2.3 is now released for 1.6.4 and 1.7.2
- Worlds saved with 1.6.4 - 2.3 are compatible with 1.7.2 - 2.3
- The recipe editor from Balanced Exchange has been moved to BCMod, allowing it to be used as a standalone recipe editor
- Amulets now charge during transmutations rather than recharging after the transmutation. This gives you more indication of what will be transmuted, what it will become and how much it would cost. It also makes it slightly harder to accidentally destroy your stuff. The old recharge behaviour can be obtained with an amulet precharger upgrade, or if you really don't like it you can disable it by setting force_transmutation_charge_mode to 2 in the config file.
- Reactivity cores can now be right-clicked to activate Dual Transmutation mode. Dual transmutation mode allows your left and right mouse buttons to trigger different transmutations, so left click could transmute into stone while right click transmutes into blocks of reactivity, or left click could be in area mode while right click is in chain mode (like a dark matter pickaxe). The amulet upgrade slots can also be targeted to specific sides by clicking the bar above the slots.
- Blocks of Reactivity now have a much weaker effect on an amulet's recharge rate, requiring a full stack to get the same effect as before.
- The minimum recharge time has been reduced from 4 ticks to 3
- The volume of the Block of Reactivity breaking sound has been changed to (50% / (blocks broken so far)^2) volume, so breaking a few hundred blocks at once shouldn't sound so horrible anymore.
This has been a pretty big update and I haven't had time to thoroughly test it for both versions, so if you find any bugs please let me know.
I just tried running Balanced Exchange on an MCPC+ server and have encountered a rather strange bug. If I open a Transmutation Chest and close it using the ESC key, everything works fine. However, if I open it and close it using my inventory key (E) it crashes the server.
I'm not sure if I should post this to the MCPC+ board or if I can get you to take a look at it and see if there is a way to make it compatible.
I'm running the latest stable version of MCPC+.
I've had a look through the code for MCPC+ and CraftBukkit and it is a problem with MCPC+.
I don't think I can fix the problem on my side without rewriting my mods as Bukkit plugins (which I won't do).
If you're posting it to the MCPC+ board you may want to include this information
When Container.bukkitView gets assigned in FMLNetworkHandler or in ItemInWorldManager it checks if there is a TileEntity that implements IInventory on that block to use as Container.bukkitView.viewing.
The problem is that the net.minecraft.inventory.IInventory interface gets patched to include methods from CraftBukkit's net.minecraft.server.IInventory interface, so any mods built using the vanilla IInventory won't implement those methods and will cause AbstractMethodErrors.
I'd suggest leaving net.minecraft.inventory.IInventory unchanged and making a net.minecraft.server.IInventory interface that extends the vanilla IInventory with CraftBukkit's methods.
Installation instructions can be found under the Installation section of the first post.
Just click the show button beside the version you want to install (1.6.4 or 1.7.2).
Hey! I really like the mod and I have 1 question/suggestion. Is there a way to speed up the consumption rate of the tranmutational chest (or is it at least planned) and will you be adding mod support to other mods like IC2, Railcraft, etc?
A transmutation chest will consume 1 stack every second, which can be very fast.
I believe the problem is that when items are piped into a transmutation chest they are put in the first available slot, but when the transmutation chest consumes a stack its slot becomes available and will often be taken within a few seconds. So the transmutation chest ends up constantly consuming the same nearly-empty slot while the other slots keep getting filled.
In the next update I'll change the order that the transmutation chest consumes slots to prevent that happening.
Balanced Exchange fully supports items from other mods, and has an in-game MPB editor that allows you to set the MPB values for any item.
You can open the MPB editor by pressing CTRL+E while an amulet is open, but you have to be 'opped' to do that, so it won't work in survival mode (this will also be fixed in the next update, but until then you can just load a creative world and use the MPB editor from there).
I"m having an issue where blocks that my amulet has learned are not showing up in the menu. For instance: My amulet has learned dark oak wood, and dark oak planks and shows them in the learned block list. it will not show oak wood nor oak planks, despite my getting the message that it has learned then. It has also learned birch wood, and says it has learned birch planks, but the planks do not show in the list of learned blocks, whereas the wood itself does. Any suggestions for this?

Download version 2.3.2 (released yesterday), it fixes that bug.
Download and install Forge (version 10.12.0.1024 or higher).
Download version 2.4.1 of BCMod from here
Download version 2.3.2 of Balanced Exchange from here
Optional: Download version 2.4.1 of Backpacks! from here
Copy the jar files into the mods folder of your minecraft directory
Note: Worlds that have been saved with version 1.6.4 - 2.3 can be loaded in 1.7.2 with some minor issues.
- blocks from my mods that are stored in your inventory or in chests will be lost, so store them in backpacks, place them in the world or store them in an amulet-less transmutation chest.
- blocks from my mods that are placed in the world will be imported as '1.6.4 blocks'. These blocks will turn into their 1.7.2 counterparts over time or when you right-click them. (This has been done to work around an issue with forge's internal id remapping system that causes remapped blocks to not function properly, so the '1.6.4 blocks' save the real blocks from needing to be remapped)
By the way the BCMod downloads version 2.3.2 and you have the version listed as 2.4.1.
I installed Balanced Exchange, BCmod and the Backpacks mod onto my Forge, and now, even though the forge version is the latest, in singleplayer I instantly get forced back to the multiplayer screen. A fatal error has occured, this connection is terminated.
Here are the mods I have on at the moment:
Optifine
MCP
ForgeModLoader
Forge
CodeChickenCore
NotEnoughItems
SuperEnchants
BCMod
bspkrscore
Condensed Potions
Space Core
Survival Wings
Floating Ruins
Treecapitator
Deconstruction Mod
Backpacks
Balanced Exchange
Battle Towers
Alchemical Wizardry
Finder Compass
Ruins Spawning System
Soup Mod
AtomicStrykerUpdateCheck
VoxelMap
YALSM
Dunno about where i'd find a proper log on this. Nothing I could find seems obvious.
EDIT: I've narrowed it down to the backpacks mod, I think. Either that, or BCMod. Can't tell.
It's definitely the Backpacks mod, BCmod, or Balanced Exchange. One of those.
I haven't been able to replicate that problem so I can't tell if it fixes it or not but the changes I made in BCMod 2.5.2 may fix that problem.
If it doesn't work let me know and I'll try something else.
Also Balanced Exchange 2.5.1 has been released
Key changes are the 'BCMod - Open Item' keybinding has been removed, instead you open an amulet's interface by pressing the inventory key while holding the amulet or by right-clicking the amulet in almost any GUI.
I also added a 'pick block' keybinding, pressing this key will change the amulet's active block to what you're looking at (so long as its been learned).
The main changes in version 2.5.0 were the order that transmutation chests consume items was changed to prevent the same slot getting consumed every time and the MPB editor can now be used in single player survival mode.
One of your other mods seems to have deleted the glass block (probably Pane In The Glass or SpaceCore - Connected Glass).
